Sizzling Jeff Dyer Gets Ready for the Busiest Part of the 2026 Racing Campaign

Yucca Valley, CA — August 27, 2026 — For open-wheel racer and California Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Dyer, the season is about to get very busy over the next two weekends. This Saturday night, he will do double duty in his 410 sprint car and lightning sprint at Ventura Raceway. Next weekend, he will venture north to compete at the famous Calistoga Speedway for the first time in his racing career.

Dyer, who calls Yucca Valley, California, home, enters Saturday's California Lightning Sprint Car Series race as the current point leader. The veteran driver leads all California lightning sprint racers with six wins in 2026. Between the CLS and SoCal Lightning Sprints, he has won his last four starts, including three straight in the SCLS.

While he leads the CLS point standings and the state in lightning sprint wins, he has yet to score a victory at Ventura. In his first race at the seaside track in March, he finished sixth in the main event. Mechanical issues plagued his next appearance on May 30th, when he finished 15th, his worst lightning sprint result of the year. Two weeks later, he recorded his best Ventura finish of the season when he placed second.

With six points-paying races remaining in the CLS season, Dyer holds a 73-point lead in the championship standings. In the SoCal Lightning Sprint Series, he is third in points, 26 behind the second-place driver with four races remaining.

Dyer's last start came two weeks ago with the SCLS at Barona. After placing second in his heat race, he started third in the main event. He took the lead on lap five at the San Diego County quarter-mile oval and pulled away from the field for his sixth win of the season.

With his confidence boosted by the recent performances of his 410 sprint car since the engine was rebuilt, Dyer will bring it to Ventura on Saturday to compete with the Ultimate Sprint Car Series. Since getting the engine back, Dyer has raced it twice, on July 4th at Santa Maria and July 11th at Perris. He placed eighth at Santa Maria and recorded his career-best Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA finish when he finished sixth one week later.

On Labor Day weekend, the veteran driver will head to one of California's most historic tracks, Calistoga Speedway. Located in California's famous "Wine Country," Dyer will spend two days competing in the annual Vermeil Classic with USAC/CRA on the big half-mile oval.

This Saturday at Ventura, spectator gates will open at 3:00 p.m., with racing scheduled to begin at 5:30. Adult tickets are $22. Seniors 60 and older, military personnel with ID, and students with ID are $18. Children 12 and under are admitted free with a paying adult.
