- BRADEN CHIARAMONTE FINISHED HIS 2023 OUTDOOR SEASON AT MERCED AND VENTURA
(El Cajon, CA, November 29, 2023) Teenage racing star Braden Chiaramonte closed out the USAC Midget racing season last week with two races at the Merced Speedway and at the 82nd Running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at the Ventura Raceway. The three races were his 41st, 42nd, and 43rd of the 2023 campaign. They were his last speed contests until the 39th Annual Tulsa Shootout that runs from December 26th through the 31st. A Lance Jennings photo of Braden Chiaramonte is attached to this release. For the final three races of the USAC Midget season, Chiaramonte was back behind the wheel of the Graunstadt Enterprises - Streeter Racing/Gary Silva Ranches/T&T Trucking/Spike/Stanton/SR 11X #14J. He came into the Merced races after placing 22nd in the main the previous Friday at the Placerville Speedway Merced Speedway, November 21st The El Cajon, California-based teen headed to Doug Lockwood's always well-prepared Merced Speedway for the two nights of racing on November 21st and 22nd. Twenty-nine other cars showed up for the third to last USAC Midget race of the 2023 campaign. When time trials concluded, Chiaramonte had turned in the 15th fastest lap at 11.809. The goal in the heat races was to finish in the top five and go directly to the A main without having to run the B. That is just what the driver known as "Spare Change" did in the third 10 lapper. He placed fifth to make his second USAC National Midget main in three starts in 2023. Chiaramonte lined up 15th in the talent-laden 23-car main event field that included World of Outlaw and USAC Sprint, Silver Crown, and Midget heroes. After 30 intense, high-speed laps, he brought the black and gold #14J home in 18th. Merced Speedway, November 22nd Night two at Merced saw 31 cars go to battle on the well-manicured 1/3 mile clay oval. Qualifying again kicked off the night and Chiaramonte cut .152 off his first night time with a lap of 11.657. Thursday's heats only put the top four drivers straight into the main. Unfortunately, the talented teen ended up sixth in the second heat and unlike 24 hours earlier, he had to take on the B main for a chance to get into the A. Except momentarily slipping back to seventh, Chiaramonte virtually held the sixth spot the entire distance to earn his passage into the 30-lap finale. For the 30-lap main on the second night of "Midget Madness," Chiaramonte started 17th. Despite slipping back to 20th early on, he came back to finish in the same spot as he started. That gave him three straight A main appearances in the toughest midget series on the planet. Ventura Raceway, November 25 Chiaramonte's outdoor season ended in Ventura at the 82nd running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix. The prestigious race is the third oldest in the USA behind only the Indianapolis 500 and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. An enthusiastic sellout crowd was cheering from the grandstands and the race was streamed live on Flo Racing making it available to thousands of other fans around the world. A strong 48-car field signed into the pits for the final race of the 2023 campaign. Chiaramonte's time of 12.831 was the 39th best on the track that is located next to the beach on the Ventura County Fairgrounds. A ninth-place result in the first qualifying race meant that the 16-year-old driver would have to head to the B main in an effort to get one of the last four positions into the 98-lap finale. The personable teen started 14th in the B. Getting entangled in someone else's faux pas early on meant he had to go to the back for the restart. On a small track like Ventura, that is anything but good in a short (12-lap) race. Chiaramonte did the best he could in the limited time he had but the laps ticked off too fast. He got up to 13th by the time the checkered waved. That was not enough to get to the A main and his night was over. The schedule slows down for the next few weeks before Chiaramonte heads to Oklahoma for the 39th Tulsa Shootout from December 26th through the 31st. While the driver and his crew will be away from the track, they will stay busy as they are working on marketing partnerships for the 2024 season. - BRADEN CHIARAMONTE CLOSES 2023 OUTDOOR SEASON THIS WEEK AT MERCED AND THE TURKEY NIGHT GRAND PRIX
(El Cajon, CA, November 20, 2023) Rising open-wheel star Brayden Chiaramonte will close the outdoor portion of his 2023 racing schedule this week with races at the Merced Speedway Tuesday and Wednesday, November 21st and 22nd, and Saturday at the Ventura Raceway in the 82nd running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix. All three shows will see the talented driver competing in Matt Streeter's fast #14 USAC Midget. The teenage driver enters the final week of USAC competition after competing in the USAC National Midget Series races last Tuesday at the Bakersfield Speedway and Friday in the Hangtown 100 at the Placerville Speedway. Bakersfield Speedway, November 14th Thirty-six UASC National Midgets showed up at the Bakersfield for the first of six races in California. Making his first appearance in a midget in 10 months dating back to the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Oklahoma, Chiaramonte came out flying in qualifying. The 16-year-old from El Cajon, California turned in a lap of 12.900. That was good for the 11th fastest time in the 36-car star-laden field. Chiaramonte found himself outside row two in the third heat race. Running in the top four most of the way, he was clearly one of the fastest cars in the group. However, a late-race stop sent him to the back of the pack for a restart. He fought his way past one car when the race went back to green but time ran out and he finished eighth. That meant he had to contest the 12-lap B main. In a hard-fought, 16-car, star-filled B, Chiaramonte ended up seventh, missing a transfer to the A main by one position. PLACERVILLE SPEEDWAY, NOVEMBER 17th Chiaramonte and his team journeyed 300 miles north from Bakersfield to Placerville for Friday's opening night of the Hangtown 100. Before they got there, the track had been pounded by rain. The track staff did a stellar job getting the track good enough to race on. Qualifying was split up by heat race groups and Chiaramonte was third fastest in his group of nine cars with a lap of 12.407. That was good for the 17th-best time of the 36 cars on hand. While the track crew got the clay surface raceable, the rain made for technical, "cowboy up" conditions. With drizzle hitting the track for his heat, Chiaramonte started sixth. Unfortunately, a car spun to a stop in turn four in front of him on lap one. With nowhere to go, he nearly got past the stopped car, but nicked it with his right rear. The yellow for the spinner necessitated a complete restart. Battling for the fourth and final transfer spot, track conditions saw him bicycle in turn three with two laps to go. He quickly recovered but slipped back to sixth. That is where he finished and it forced him to contest the B main. Starting on the pole in the B, Chiaramonte tamed the track and led the first two circuits before slipping back to second on lap three. Going into turn one on the fourth go around, the new leader got upside down bringing out a red flag. Simultaneously, the heavens opened up again and saturated the track. By the time the rain stopped and the track crew had worked the surface back in, the action had been delayed for 45 minutes. When racing resumed, Chiaramonte started first and kept the black #14 in front over the final nine laps for the victory and his ticket into the main event. He started 20th in the 30-lap main event that went green to checkers without a caution or a red flag. The final rain made the track hard to pass on and the young driver ended up 22nd in the main event. Chiaramonte will conclude the outdoor portion of his season this Friday and Saturday in the 82nd Running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at Jim Naylor's Ventura Raceway. Friday will be practice for the USAC National Midgets with their racing on Saturday. Advance tickets are available and advised at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/82nd-annual-turkey-night-grand-prix-tickets-629591554287?aff=oddtdtcreator. Gates will open at 3:00 p.m. each day. The track is located on the Ventura County Fairgrounds at 10 W. Harbor Boulevard (93001). The website is http://venturaraceway.com/ and the office phone number is (805) 648-RACE. For fans who cannot make it, both nights will be streamed live on Flo Racing. For more information or to order please visit https://www.floracing.com/. Chiaramonte would like to thank all his sponsors who have made his racing efforts possible. RTL Traffic Control, AM Ortega, Hyper Racing, Chop Design, Adams Motors, Hacienda Casa Blanca Fine Mexican Dining, Evil Plus Injection, King Racing Products, Tiner-Hirst Enterprises, and Keizer Wheels. Chiaramonte and his team are in the midst of a busy racing season. - AFTER ANOTHER IMPRESSIVE RUN IN A 410 SPRINT CAR, BRADEN CHIARAMONTE TAKES ON USAC MIDGET WESTERN SWING
(El Cajon, CA, November 13, 2023) After another stunning performance where he finished fifth in his second 410 sprint car start, teenage sensation Braden Chiaramonte is teaming up with noted West Coast car owner Matt Streeter for the USAC National Midgets Western Swing beginning Tuesday at the famous Bakersfield Speedway. The duo will follow Tuesday's event with races Thursday and Friday at the Placerville Speedway, next Tuesday and Wednesday, November 21st and 22nd, at the Merced Speedway and Saturday, November 25th at the 82nd running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at the Ventura Raceway. Chiaramonte, who lives in El Cajon, California, first teamed up with Streeter at the Bakersfield Speedway on April 16th, 2022. To the fans in the stands at the start of that night, the teen was just another name on the roster. That all changed in his first-ever USAC Midget heat race. After qualifying ninth, he started fourth in the hotly contested prelim. Using the outside line like a seasoned pro, he passed two cars in turn two on the first lap to move up to second. By the end of the first circuit, he had procured the lead and proceeded to move away from the pack. He led the race until lap seven when the defending series champion chased him down and got by. Chiaramonte finished second in that heat. By the time the main came around that night, the track was shot after being pounded by five other divisions. Chiaramonte, who was 15 at the time, started the main in ninth. By lap eight, he steered Streeter's #14 car up to fourth. A trip up to the wide line a few laps later saw him slip back and he ran from sixth to 10th the remainder of the way before crossing under the checkers 10th. Chiaramonte made two more appearances in Streeter cars last year placing seventh at Ventura on May 21st and 10th at Merced on June 18th. After the show at Bakersfield, Chiaramonte and Streeter will head north for two nights of racing this Friday and Saturday in the Hangtown 100 at the Placerville Speedway. After that, the team will be back in action next Tuesday and Wednesday, November 21st and 22nd, at the Merced Speedway. The season will wrap up with the 82nd running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at Jim Naylor's Ventura Raceway on November 25th. Young Chiaramonte comes into the California swing after another impressive showing in a 410 sprint car at the Western World Championships at Arizona's Cocopah Speedway. It was not only Chiaramonte's second and third appearances in a 410 but it was the first time he had ever raced at Cocopah. Three weeks earlier he shocked the 410 world by qualifying third fastest and finishing fourth at Mohave. The trip to Cocopah proved to be even more impressive as it was against a larger and tougher field that included several National drivers. Opening night of the Western World Championships saw Chiaramonte qualify 16th of the 33 cars on hand with a lap of 17.151. By the time he came onto the track for his 10-lap heat, the track was pretty much gone and had turned into a tire-eating monster. The teen initially steered the immaculate #73B into second and ended up placing fourth. That earned him a direct ticket into the A main event. When Chiaramonte returned to the pits after the heat, there was oil everywhere on the car. As the crew poured over the engine to find out where the oil was coming from, they found that a bolt for the valve cover had stripped out. Unfortunately, the team did not have a helicoil to make the repairs and they were done for the night. Saturday, with repairs made and with vastly improved track conditions, Chiaramonte cut .407 off of his qualifying time and ended up seventh fastest of the 28 sprint cars on hand. He again earned a direct ticket to the main event by placing fourth in his heat. For the main, Chiaramonte started seventh. Early on, the youthful driver slipped back a few spots before he began steering his white and bright orange sprint car forward. Around the halfway point he was seventh. Soon thereafter he moved up to fifth and stayed there for the duration giving him two top five finishes in the first two 410 sprint car starts in his career. Spectator gates at Bakersfield will open at 4:00 p.m. with racing at 6:00. Adult tickets are $20.00. Seniors 65 and over and military with proper ID get in for $18.00. Kids 6-12 are $10.00 and children 5 and under are free. Parking is free. The track is located at 5001 North Chester Ext. Ave., Bakersfield (93308). The track website is http://www.bakersfieldspeedway.com/ and the office phone number is (661) 393-3373. Gates will open each day at 3:00 p.m. with racing at 6:00 at Placerville. The track is located at 100 Placerville Drive, Placerville, California. The office phone number is (530) 344-7592. - SETH AND JEFF DYER WILL BOTH BE IN ACTION AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY
(Yucca Valley, CA, November 7, 2023) Two weeks after Cinderella's carriage turned into a pumpkin for Dyer Motorsports at the Ventura Raceway, team drivers Jeff and Seth Dyer will both be in action when Perris Auto Speedway closes its 27th season of racing this Saturday night, November 11th. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and racing will begin at 7:00. The team will be taking both of its lightning sprint cars to Saturday's race along with its #39 full-size sprint car. Each of the team drivers will be competing in the POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprint Car portion of the program. Twenty-four hours before Saturday's race, Jeff, a California Highway Patrol Officer, will be testing the #39 410 sprint car at The PAS. It will be his first time back in the substantially heavier racing machine since July 15th. He has been out of the car due to suffering a torn Achilles tendon in August. If the test goes well, he will race the car in the USAC/CRA portion of the program. If there is discomfort, the team will throw restrictors in the engine and Seth will make his second appearance in the PAS Young Gun Series. Dyer Motorsports started October off with a bang when Jeff destroyed the lightning sprint car competition to win his first race back after surgery at the Mohave Valley Raceway on October 14th. One week later at the Imperial Valley Raceway, Jeff finished third in the SWLS Friday night main event. Twenty-four hours later he finished sixth but for the second time in a week, a DMS car won the main event when Seth drove a perfect race. He led every lap and scored a runaway win for the first victory in his career. After two successful weeks, things took a turn in the wrong direction at the California Lightning Sprint Car Series race at Ventura on October 28th. The night started off bright enough when Jeff turned in his series-leading fifth fast qualifying time of the season. He backed that up with a third-place finish in his heat. An engine issue forced Seth to miss qualifying. The same concern compelled the team to make the decision to have him start the main event and immediately pull out so he could collect start points and not damage the powerplant. That would almost guarantee him finishing last in the main, right? Wrong! One driver did finish behind him. Unfortunately, that was his dad. The original start of the main event was called back as one of the front-row starters took off too early. Before the restart, Jeff coasted to a stop on the front straightaway. His front sprocket had come off and he was done for the night. Moments later after the race restarted, Seth did as planned, and coasted into the pits as the next car out. There is a lot at stake in Saturday's race as Jeff comes into the night with a 49-point lead in the SWLS championship standings. Seth is two spots back in third. In their other 2023 appearance with the POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprints at The PAS this year on May 27th, Jeff won the main event and Seth ended up third. In honor of Veteran's Day, all active military members who show a valid ID at the ticket window on Saturday will get a ticket for $5.00 and a pass for one accompanying guest at the time of purchase. Adult tickets for Saturday's race are $30.00. Seniors 65 and over get in for $25.00. For kids 6-12 it is only $5.00 and children 5 and under are free. The fairgrounds charge $10.00 for parking. Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds at 18700 Lake Perris Drive in the City of Perris. The track website is http://www.perrisautospeedway.com/ and the office phone number is (951) 940-0134. After Saturday's race at Perris, the Dyers will get right back in action when the SWLS and CLS clash in a co-sanctioned race at the Bakersfield Speedway next Tuesday night. Are you looking into getting into lightning sprint car racing? If you answered yes, contact Jeff Dyer. He has two top-of-the-line lightning cars for sale. He can be contacted using the phone number or email address at the top of this release. As pictured, the Dyer Motorsports team shirts are now available. You can pick one up in the pits after the races or you can order via email at mailto:dyermotorsports4@gmail.com Jeff is racing in memory of his grandparents, Glenn, and Beverly Sels, throughout the 2023 season. Jeff would like to thank the following for making the 2023 racing campaign possible in the #4 and 4Jr Lightning Sprint Cars. Dependable Machine Inc., Haircuts By Susie, Jobu Racing, LBA Investigations, and Dyer Motorsports. For the USAC/CRA #39 sprint car, Straight Time Stirrups, Dependable Machines Inc., Hair Cuts By Susie, Jobu Racing, Justice Brothers, Fonseca Racing, and Specialty Fasteners helped put him on the track. - Cole Macedo Wins Merced Speedway Pop-Up Race
Slated to run at Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA Friday and Saturday night, issues with the surface led to cancellations. Looking like the weekend was a loss, Merced Speedway stepped up and added winged 360 sprint cars to their nightly schedule, and Cole Macedo made the most of it as he scored his fifth win of the season.
