WHEATLAND, MO. (Oct. 9, 2026) - The front of the starting lineup for Saturday night's Hickamo Stock Cars Big Buck 50 Presented by Whitetail Trophy Hunt is set and the reigning champ will again be the man to beat.
Johnny Fennewald of Appleton City used a mid-race pass to win Dash One and lock down the pole for the $25,000-to-win, 50-lap feature. Richie Tosh of Salado, Ark., won Dash Two to claim the outside front-row spot.
Meanwhile, the Late Model Fall Nationals for the MARS DIRTcar Series saw Chase Junghans of Manhattan, Kansas, earn his first career MARS feature win as he held off Dallon Murty. Junghans captured the $5,000 prize and the Late Models will race for double that on Saturday night.
In the Super Stocks, pole-starter Terry Schultz led the opening two laps of Dash One, but Fennewald was quickly applying pressure to the top qualifier from Thursday night. Fennewald was able to clear Schultz on the outside, coming off turn four, to complete lap five.
Fennewald checked out from there, beating Schultz by 1.5 seconds at the finish. William Garner was third with Kyle Slader fourth.
In the Dash Two, Tosh got the jump on fellow front-row starter Tony Anglin for the early lead. Tosh rolled to a big lead from there and never was threatened.
Tosh, of Salado, Ark., beat sixth-starting Peyton Taylor by 1.5 seconds with Anglin third and Burl Woods fourth.
Junghans wires MARS field: Chase Junghans won his second straight feature at Lucas Oil Speedway after breaking through for the $11,000 Ron Jenkins Memorial over Labor Day Weekend. He led all 30 laps.
"I told myself at the beginning of the year - and I said this last time we were up front here - every time we come here I get my butt kicked," Junghans said in victory lane. "I could never figure it out and there's a lot of good-paying races here throughout the year. I just wanted to try and get this place figured out.
"We're getting better, but there's still room for improvement," Junghans added. "The race track was phenomenal. I just have to thank my guys, Donnie and Bob, Emily my wife and everybody who helps us."
Junghans grabbed the lead at the start and had nearly a one-second edge over Dylan Thornton by lap 10 of the 30-lapper. Thornton began to gradually cut into the margin as Dallon Murty moved into third.
By the halfway mark on lap 15, Thornton and Murty were right behind the leader. They were still running 1-2-3 when Thornton popped the wall in turn two, as he and Murty was mixing it up for second, to bring out the first caution of the race on lap 17.
"Man, I hate that for Dylan," Murty said. "I had to slide him down there and I thought I sent it in hard enough to where he would check and turn under. But I hate that. Sorry to him."
After the restart, Junghans and Murty exchanged sliders on consecutive laps but Junghans was able to stave off the challenger with Tony Jackson Jr. lurking in third and Chris Simpson in fourth.
Junghans was up to the challenge, holding off Murty to win by .937 seconds. Jackson was third, Simpson fourth and Jason Feger fifth.
"We were pretty good and it's a good night with the new car," Murty said. "I have to thank everybody at Longhorn."
Simpson of Oxford, Iowa, set fast overall qualifying time, just missing the track record for Late Models at 14.641 seconds. That was in Group 1 and barely off Garrett Alberson's track record of 14.443 set on May 24, 2024 with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., led Group 2 with a lap of 14.933.
