  After Qualifying for Both Western World Championship Main Events, Eddie Tafoya Jr. Returns to Perris This Saturday

  Chino Hills, CA — October 30, 2025 — Eddie Tafoya Jr. took on the best traditional sprint car drivers in the world last weekend when he battled the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Cars and the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars in the prestigious Western World Championships at Central Arizona Raceway. Tafoya was one of only three USAC/CRA drivers to qualify directly into both main events without needing to run a C main, B main, or take a provisional spot. A strong field of 46 cars turned out for two nights of intense 410 sprint car action. Tafoya, who raced at the same track south of Phoenix in Casa Grande earlier this year with USAC/CRA, timed in 25th fastest on night one. That put him in the loaded fifth and final heat race, where only the top four transferred directly to the main. The 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year rose to the occasion, finishing fourth and locking himself straight into the 30-lap feature, avoiding the chaos of the lower mains. In the main event, the Chino Hills, California racer started 22nd and came home 23rd. On night two, Tafoya, 28, found himself in the second qualifier—an eight-lap, 13-car showdown where only the top five would advance directly to the A main. For the second straight night, he answered the challenge, finishing fourth and once again skipping the preliminary races. "It was definitely a weight off my shoulders, and it was a lot less work going straight into the mains from the heat races," the veteran racer said. "It was good to skip the B and the C at this race. We had a really good baseline setup. It's a great track that kind of suits my style. It's kind of wide open. You've just got to hit your marks and stay in the good dirt." The finale featured one of the toughest fields of 2025. Starting on the inside of row eight (15th), Tafoya advanced two positions to finish a solid 13th against the national stars. "Racing with them makes me a better driver," Tafoya added about competing against the national series racers. "Racing against those guys is the benchmark and the speed we try to be all the time. It just seems like whenever they come out here, we try to step it up—definitely find some speed and eliminate our mistakes. It helps me be a better driver." This Saturday, the second-generation driver looks to carry his Arizona momentum into Perris Auto Speedway. The event will mark his ninth appearance of the season at his home track, where he hopes to better his season-best fourth-place finish from September 9th.   NARC CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE CONCLUDES AT STOCKTON'S TRIBUTE TO GP

  (10/27/25 - Andrew Kunas) Stockton, CA ...A big night of racing awaits the NARC King of the West sprint car series, as the 2025 season concludes with the annual Tribute to Gary Patterson and a championship will be won Saturday night (November 1st) at the Stockton Dirt Track. Just 12 points separate a pair of former NARC champions at the top of the standings, with each man in pursuit of his second title. Hanford's D.J. Netto, the 2019 titlist, is ahead of Oroville's Sean Becker, who won his championship 20 years ago, going into what will be a hotly contested season finale. Netto has won three times this season and that includes the season opener at the Stockton Dirt Track in March when Netto won the Salute to Leroy Van Connett. He also won the last NARC event, held October 11th at Antioch Speedway. Netto and the Netto Ag No. 88n team will look for another strong performance at a track he has been successful at to wrap up a second NARC championship. Becker meanwhile is winless this season, but he has been competitive all season aboard the Don Bjork No. 7b and the "Shark" has led laps in multiple main events this year. If Becker wants to win his second championship though, he will likely need to get that first win on the season in the finale and pair that with a significantly subpar performance by Netto. With his three wins on the season, Netto owns the tiebreaker if the two drivers were to finish with identical point tallies. If Becker were to gain a point by setting fast time in qualifying and then win Saturday's Patterson Tribute, Netto would need to finish 10th place or better in the main event to clinch the title. Incidentally, neither Netto or Becker has won the race that honors the legendary Gary Patterson, at least in 410 sprint car competition, and both would love to add their name to the list of winners of the event to cap off the season. One of the all-time greats out of California, Patterson - or the "Preacher" as he was nicknamed - won races all over the West Coast and across the country, racing as a true outlaw for most of his career. Though he lost his life in a 1983 racing accident at Calistoga Speedway, Patterson's accomplishments behind the wheel of a sprint car landed him in the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1998. The Tribute to Gary Patterson was first run in 1984, won by future Hall of Famer Chuck Gurney. The race had been held annually in Calistoga before moving to Stockton in recent years. The list of race winners is full of big names. Former "King of California" Steve Kent and Hall of Famer Brent Kaeding lead everyone with four wins each. Another Hall of Famer and NARC great Tim Green is a three-time winner of the event alongside Rico Abreau and Justin Sanders. Sanders won last year's Patterson Tribute to win the 2024 NARC championship in walk-off fashion after an intense points battle with Cole Macedo. Other Hall of Famers who have won the Patterson Tribute include Jimmy Sills (twice), Jeff Swindell and Paul McMahan. WHO ELSE TO WATCH Campbell's Bud Kaeding, another former NARC champion, is surprisingly one of the big names who has not won a Patterson main event, and this Saturday he will look to join his father Brent and brother Tim as a winner of the prestigious event. Kaeding, winner of the Johnny Key Classic at Ocean Speedway in August, sits third in the points going into the finale. Aromas's Justin Sanders, last year's "King of the West" who leads everyone with seven NARC victories this year aboard the Mittry Motorsports No. 2x, will look to cap off his season a win that would tie him with Brent Kaeding and Steve Kent for most Patterson wins. Fremont's Shane Golobic is still looking for his first NARC win this season but is twice a winner of the Patterson and would like to win his third on Saturday. This year's Dave Bradway Jr Memorial winner Dominic Gorden will be in attendance and is looking for a third career NARC win to cap off his season. Fresno's Mariah Ede is expected to race on Saturday and will wrap up NARC Rookie of the Year honors. Former NARC champion Dominic Scelzi of Fresno is expected, along with Templeton's Kaleb Montgomery, Lemoore's Gauge Garcia, Redding's Max Mittry, Windsor's John Clark, Gilroy's Jarrett Soares, and Benecia's Billy Aton.   Halloween showdown wraps up SCCT season at Stockton Dirt Track Friday

  Stockton, CA…What started in March will conclude this Friday when the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour tackles the Stockton Dirt Track to open the 42nd annual Tribute to Gary Patterson on Halloween. The event has morphed back into a double header weekend with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, the Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Tour and West Coast Pro Stocks launching things on Friday October 31st. Kids 12 and under wearing a costume will receive free admission in the stands on Halloween. Teams are also encouraged to bring candy for a Trick or Treat in the pit area following the races. Saturday November 1st will then showcase the NARC 410 Sprint Cars, the California Midget Super Series and Dwarf Cars. Plenty of camping is available on the fairgrounds for those who want to make a weekend out of it at the Tribute to Gary Patterson. "Everyone with Noceti Group is looking forward to GP weekend this Friday and Saturday," said Stockton Dirt Track Promoter Tony Noceti. "We continue doing work on this track to try and give teams the best possible surface. Back in March it was dialed in a little more and I feel that we should have two great nights of racing to finish off the championships."   OCTOBER CLASSIC IS NEXT UP FOR THE NARC SPRINT CARS AT KERN RACEWAY

  (10/20/25 - Andrew Kunas) Bakersfield, CA ... The closing stretch of the 2025 NARC 410 Sprint Car Series campaign continues with the October Classic this Saturday (October 25th), as the series makes its only appearance of the season at the Bakersfield Speedway dirt track at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway. The October Classic combo-show also features the CARS Tour and the "Harvick Showdown" with NASCAR champion Kevin Harvick and his son Keelan racing against each other in late models on the half-mile asphalt oval. The NARC show will follow that event on the neighboring dirt track, located just outside of turn four. Race fans can purchase a $30 ticket to get into both events. The pavement race starts at 6:00 p.m., the NARC show at approximately 7:30 p.m. NARC last visited the Kern Raceway dirt track this time last year, but since then the old Bakersfield Speedway in nearby Oildale closed and its operations transferred over to the dirt track at Kern. The dirt track facility now operates as Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway. The facility has also undergone improvements since NARC's last visit, including additional seating. No matter the official name of the track, action will be hot on Saturday night with much at stake. Things remain tight at the top of the NARC standings with only two events remaining. D.J. Netto of Hanford picked up an enormous victory on October 11th at Antioch Speedway to increase his point lead over Oroville's Sean Becker, who finished fourth in that race. Just 12 points now separate the two former series champions. Netto has three NARC wins on the season, including winning both Antioch races. Becker is winless on the season but has been strongly consistent all season and more than once has knocked on the door of victory. Even with Netto winning in NARC's last outing, one misstep by Netto coupled with a strong outing by Becker - or even better, a win for him - could really shake things up for the November 1st finale at the Stockton Dirt Track. WHO TO WATCH In last year's October Classic at Kern Raceway, it was San Jose's Tim Kaeding picking up the victory. The veteran racer and former NARC champion led every lap, but had to withstand a number of race stoppages and challenges for the lead along the way. Kaeding, long one of the most popular and exciting racers out of California, will be one to watch again. Another Kaeding to watch will be Tim's brother Bud, who sits third in the NARC points. The Campbell driver won his 23rd NARC feature event of his career, winning the Johnny Key Classic at Ocean Speedway in August. Clovis driver Dominic Gorden ran a strong second in the race at Antioch and set fast time in qualifying earlier that evening. Having won the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial earlier this season and posting other podium finishes, Gorden is hoping to capture a second NARC victory on the season before the season is up. Having opened in 2015, the Kern Raceway dirt track has hosted numerous sprint car races and other open wheel events on its 1/3-mile clay oval. Shane Golobic was a NARC winner in 2022 and the following year it was Corey Day picking up a win there on his way to the 2023 NARC championship. Future NARC champion Justin Sanders picked up a win there in 2021. Mariah Ede is expected to race and will look to all but wrap up NARC Rookie of the Year honors. The young lady from Fresno has had her struggles during his first year in a 410 sprint car, but has shown speed at times also. Former NARC champion Dominic Scelzi of Fresno is expected, along with Oregon driver Tanner Holmes, Templeton's Kaleb Montgomery, Lemoore's Gauge Garcia, Redding's Max Mittry, Windsor's John Clark, Gilroy's Jarrett Soares, and Benicia's Billy Aton.   Eddie Tafoya Jr. Returns to Perris After Another Top-10 Finish

  Chino Hills, CA — October 8, 2025 — After a brief break from competition, Eddie Tafoya Jr. will return to action when the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series resumes on Saturday, October 18th, at Perris Auto Speedway. The event will mark the 22nd start of the season for the Chino Hills, California, racer and his ninth appearance of the year at the track closest to his home. Tafoya, 28, heads into the night following another solid top-10 performance at the famed half mile on September 27th. On an evening when rain showers surrounded the facility and came within a mile of the oval, the driver of the eye-catching #51T qualified eighth quick with a lap of 17.066 seconds. The 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year went on to finish fifth in his heat race. In the 30-lap main event, he started in the eighth position and maintained his consistent form to finish in the same spot against a tough field of competitors. In eight main event starts at Perris in 2025, the track's 2018 Young Guns Champion has finished inside the top 10 seven times. The only exception came in the season opener on March 1st, when loose belts forced him to slow mid-race and he placed 13th. His best Perris result this year is a fourth-place finish on September 13th in a race streamed live worldwide on Dirt Vision. His average main event finish in 2025 at the long-time Riverside County half mile stands at an impressive 8.125. Tafoya has qualified in seven of eight visits to The PAS this season. The lone miss occurred on August 16th, when a tumble during his first qualifying lap sidelined his effort. His quickest qualifying time came at the March 1st season opener—16.668 seconds—while his best qualifying position, sixth, has been achieved twice (April 5th and June 21st).   ANTIOCH SPEEDWAY OPEN WHEEL OCTOBERFEST AWAITS NARC SPRINT CARS

  (10/7/25 - Andrew Kunas) Antioch, CA ... The closing stretch of the 2025 NARC King of the West sprint car season continues this Saturday (October 11th) with the tour's second visit of the year to Antioch Speedway for the Open Wheel Octoberfest. Things have tightened up in the point standings with just three races remaining. Former series champion D.J. Netto of Hanford continues to lead in pursuit of his second NARC championship but is now holding on by a thread. Falling back to finish ninth in last Saturday's event at Thunderbowl Raceway, combined with Oroville's Sean Becker rising late to finish second, resulted in Netto's lead over Becker shrinking to just seven points. Saturday's race ironically comes at the same track where the two battled for the lead in May's Contra Costa County Clash. Becker had taken the lead, but hard racing resulted in contact between the two and Becker crashed out, and Netto went on to win his second race of the season. That was also Netto's last victory this season. Becker is winless but has been competitive all season. With the two in a close points battle with just a few races remaining, so much is on the line Saturday. Campbell's Bud Kaeding, a winner in the Johnny Key Classic in August, continues to lurk in third place in the standings, sitting a mere 21 points out of the lead. A bad night for Netto and/or Becker could potentially put Kaeding in the thick of things as well. WHO TO WATCH Tim Kaeding and the Williams Motorsports No. 0 team is expected to run the remaining NARC races this season. One of the most exciting drivers to ever come out of California, the future Hall of Famer has one NARC win to his credit this season, coming in July at Petaluma Speedway. Kaeding struggled in qualifying last Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway, but turned in a strong main event run, coming from 12th to finish fifth. Kaeding and the Zero Heroes will look to get back in the win column on Saturday. Fresno's Mariah Ede, in her first year racing 410 sprint cars, is now leading the NARC Rookie of the Year chase and is expected to race on Saturday. Joining her also is Fremont's Shane Golobic, who was the hard charger at Thunderbowl, and who won a BCRA midget race at Antioch in May and will look to pick up a sprint car win there on Saturday. Also expected to compete are reigning NARC champion Justin Sanders of Aromas, Lemoore's Gauge Garcia, Templeton's Kaleb Montgomery, Dominic Gorden of Clovis, Dylan Bloomfield of Oakley, and Max Mittry of Redding. Washington's Jesse Schlotfeldt will continue his fall swing of races in California and Oklahoma's Cannon McIntosh is expected to again pilot a Roth Motorsports entry.   NARC BEGINS HOME STRETCH WITH CHRIS & BRIAN FARIA MEMORIAL AT TULARE

  (9/30/25 - Andrew Kunas) Tulare, CA ... The closing stretch of the 2025 NARC King of the West sprint car season is upon us. The first of four races in five weeks is this Saturday as the NARC teams tackle the famous Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare for the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial. This action-packed racing card will also feature the Sprint Car Challenge Tour 360's. The race is one of the cornerstone events at the popular 1/3-mile clay oval. First contested in 2002, the event honors a pair of brothers from the Faria family, longtime participants in California racing. Chris Faria, who was an up and coming racer, passed away after a farming accident in 1993. His older brother Brian, who was active behind the scenes at Thunderbowl Raceway, tragically passed away in early 2006 in a traffic accident, and Brian's name was soon put alongside his brother's for this race. The 2025 race was originally scheduled for April 26th, but Mother Nature interfered and forced its postponement. NARC and Thunderbowl Raceway officials agreed to reschedule the event for October 4th to start a busy stretch to finish NARC's season. The event, held at one of California's most challenging dirt tracks, has long been looked forward to by NARC competitors and fans, and the list of past winners of the race reads like a who's who of west coast sprint car racing. Jason Meyers, a future World of Outlaws champion, won the inaugural event in 2002. National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Brent Kaeding won it twice in the latter years of his legendary career. A young kid named Kyle Larson, years before the NASCAR world got to know him, was the 2010 winner of the race. NARC champions such as D.J. Netto and Kyle Hirst are also past winners. Last year's event, ironically postponed by weather to a later date also, was won by Cole Macedo aboard the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21. WHO TO WATCH Speaking of NARC champions, former series champ D.J. Netto, who lives just down the road from Thunderbowl Raceway in Hanford, holds a slim 14-point lead over another former champion in Sean Becker of Oroville. Netto has two NARC wins to his credit this season, but hasn't won since May. Netto, however, has seen success in Tulare over the years, including winning the 2015 edition of the Faria. Netto hopes his past success at Thunderbowl Raceway will continue as he seeks his second NARC championship. After winning six NARC races during the summer with Australian ace James McFadden in cockpit, the Tarlton Motorsports team will welcome back Oregon's Tanner Holmes, who piloted the car back in the spring. Holmes was victorious in NARC competition with the Tarlton team in May when he took the first of the Twin 20's at the Morrie Williams Memorial in Tulare. After piloting his family's car during the summer, Holmes will rejoin the Tarlton's and is hoping for a repeat of May this Saturday. Between Holmes and McFadden, the seven NARC wins by the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21 team are tied for the most this season with the Mittry Motorsports No. 2x, all of theirs with Justin Sanders behind the wheel. The second of the Twin 20's in May was won by Caeden Steele, and it was the young Fresno-area driver's first NARC win. Steele is another driver hoping that past history will repeat itself on Saturday. Sean Becker, despite running second in points, is winless this season, but has been competitive all season and is coming off a podium run at the last NARC race at Placerville Speedway on September 6th. Another driver expected this Saturday include Campbell's Bud Kaeding, a winner in August at the Johnny Key Classic at Ocean Speedway. Kaeding enters the night third in the points, just 23 tallies back of Netto with four races remaining.   Eddie Tafoya Jr. Heads Back to Perris After Season-Best Run

  Chino Hills, CA — September 25, 2025 — Fresh off his best outing of the season, Eddie Tafoya Jr. will be back in action this Saturday, September 27th, when Perris Auto Speedway hosts the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars. Two weeks ago, Tafoya charged from deep in the field to finish fourth and captured the "In Memory of Jim and Chet Gardner Hard Charger Award" for passing more cars than any other driver on the famous half-mile oval. The 27-year-old Chino Hills, California racer entered that race on the heels of another strong fourth-place finish when the Ultimate Sprint Car Series visited Petaluma Speedway in the Bay Area on September 1st. Tafoya, the 2018 Perris Auto Speedway Young Guns champion, opened his most recent PAS appearance by qualifying 13th in the 21-car field with a lap of 17.441 seconds. He then advanced to fourth in his heat race. In the 30-lap main event, the 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year lined up on the inside of the seventh row in 13th. To make things more challenging, the World of Outlaws winged feature was moved ahead of the USAC/CRA finale at the last minute, creating a slicker surface and making passing more difficult for most of the non-wing competitors. However, that was not the case for Tafoya in his sharp-looking #51T. The second-generation driver sliced through the field, picking off 13 cars and taking the checkered flag in fourth.   Eddie Tafoya Jr. Ready for Perris' Biggest Sprint Car Night of 2025

  Chino Hills, CA — September 7, 2025 — After a weekend off following three straight nights of racing in Northern California, Eddie Tafoya Jr. returns to action this Saturday, September 13th, when Perris Auto Speedway hosts its biggest sprint car program of the season. Tafoya will pilot his familiar #51T in the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series that sharing the spotlight with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars in a rare and exciting open-wheel doubleheader. The 27-year-old Chino Hills, California racer comes into the event with momentum, fresh off his best finish of 2025 — a fourth-place run in the Ultimate Sprint Car Series at Petaluma Speedway on Labor Day. In just his second career start with the USCS, and his first appearance at Petaluma since 2019, Tafoya charged forward from seventh on the grid to secure the top-five result on the tight 3/8-mile oval. Earlier that evening, Tafoya was third-fastest in his qualifying group, seventh overall of the 20 cars on hand and recorded a third-place finish in his 10-lap heat race. "The night went well," Tafoya said of Petaluma. "The track changes a lot. You kind of start tightening up the car and then go back to where you started for the main event. Just had to make sure the car was drivable after the two previous nights." The strong Petaluma outing came on the heels of Tafoya's participation in the historic reopening of Calistoga Speedway over Labor Day weekend. Racing returned to the iconic half-mile for the first time in six years in front of sellout crowds. On night one, Tafoya timed in eighth-fastest among 34 cars, finished fifth in his heat, and transferred through the B-main before ending the A-main in 16th. Night two saw him post the 18th-quickest qualifying lap, grab a second in his heat, and lock into the feature, where he placed 18th. "I was pretty excited to go back there," Tafoya said of his return to the big half mile. " I am always happy to go to big fast racetracks. Unfortunately, the results didn't necessarily pan out how we wanted but we still had fun up there. The first night I had a good starting spot in eighth. I just think I was way to tight. I was trying to compensate on how slick the dirt was getting but then it ended up getting rough so I was kind of caught in a sticky situation. I was just stuck." "The second night, it felt a lot better in the heat race and I almost won it," Tafoya continued. " In the main, we had a right rear shock let go. So I was all over the place and on the verge of being out of control, so I brought it in early." Tafoya, the 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year, will now look to build on that experience as he tackles one of the biggest stages of the season at Perris Auto Speedway.   McFADDEN TAKES NARC LOUIE VERMEIL CLASSIC OPENER AT CALISTOGA

  (8/30/25 - Andrew Kunas) Calistoga, CA ... Sometimes, a change of scenery will do you good. Just ask James McFadden. After a hard week elsewhere, McFadden and the Tarlton Motorsports team decided to change plans and hurried down to join NARC at the reopening Calistoga Speedway. The decision resulted in a $5,000 victory on the opening night of the Louie Vermeil Classic. McFadden led all 25 laps and picked up his fifth NARC victory of the season aboard the American Rock & Rent-sponsored Tarlton Motorsports No. 21 TRD-powered Maxim, and it was his sixth career triumph with the series. It wasn't always easy as Australian star was challenged for the lead at the midway point by Indiana visitor Spencer Bayston. After completing the 13th circuit, Bayston passed McFadden for the lead as they raced in traffic on the big half-mile. An untimely caution flag though negated Bayston's pass and put McFadden back out front. McFadden successfully fended off Bayston on a pair of restarts before Bayston then pulled off the track with mechanical issues. Shane Golobic later moved into second place but could not challenge McFadden. Pulling into the winner's circle in his first visit to the historic Calistoga Speedway, McFadden celebrated with his patented "shoey", taking a drink of beer from one of his racing shoes, the fifth time he'd done that this season in NARC competition. McFadden had won four of out five races in NARC's Fastest Five Days in Motorsports up in the Pacific Northwest in June before traveling out east with the team for the summer. After the tough Thursday and Friday night with High Limit Racing at Skagit Speedway up in Washington, the Tarlton Motorsports team was no doubt feeling much better with the bounce back NARC win Saturday night at Calistoga.   Eddie Tafoya Jr. Heads North for Labor Day Weekend Tripleheader

  Chino Hills, CA — August 28, 2025 — For the first time since 2021, Chino Hills, California, sprint car racer Eddie Tafoya Jr. is heading to Northern California for three big races over Labor Day weekend. The now-veteran driver will kick things off this Saturday and Sunday, August 30th and 31st, competing in the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series 14th Annual Louie Vermeil Classic at the legendary Calistoga Speedway. On Labor Day Monday, he'll make the short trip to Petaluma Speedway to battle with the Ultimate Sprint Car Series. The weekend at Calistoga is one of the most highly anticipated events on the West Coast in 2025. Shuttered since 2019, the picturesque half-mile clay oval seemed doomed until the city purchased the fairgrounds property, bringing racing back to the historic venue. For 28-year-old Tafoya, it will be just his second trip to Calistoga. The last time he raced there came on September 1, 2019 — the track's final event before the shutdown — during the season he earned USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year honors. That night he qualified 16th in a 24-car field, started 16th, and finished 15th in the main event. A big weekend awaits the NARC King of the West Sprint Car Series as it takes part in the triumphant reopening of Calistoga Speedway for the Louie Vermeil Classic this Saturday and Sunday (August 30th-31st). Fans will have the opportunity to witness the best of both worlds as the USAC/CRA non-wing 410 sprint cars share this open wheel racing program. The historic half-mile clay oval located in Napa County has not seen race cars on track since 2019. The Louie Vermeil Classic was first run in 2008. After the track shuttered and was left without a promoter during the COVID-19 plagued 2020 season, the event was moved to Silver Dollar Speedway for 2021 before going on hiatus. With Calistoga opening back up, the event has restarted and returns to its original home, which was always regarded as the home track of the Northern Auto Racing Club sprint cars. The event honors Louie Vermeil, a large figure in California sprint car racing who helped found the Northern Auto Racing Club in 1960 and saw the association through its early decades, serving as president from 1965 to 1985. Vermeil also fielded several cars during his time in racing, from the early "big cars" to sprint cars, with drivers including Johnny Anderson and Mike Andreetta piloting his cars. Vermeil, who passed away in 1987, was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1995 for his work in sprint car racing. The Louie Vermeil Classic started as a USAC/CRA non-wing event, and NARC joined in 2019 to give the fans both winged 410 and wingless 410 sprint cars to watch. That 2019 Louie Vermeil Classic, the last at Calistoga, saw Dominic Scelzi and Rico Abreu score victories on the big half-mile. The 2021 edition at Silver Dollar Speedway saw Scelzi and Justin Sanders win the two NARC features that weekend. More than $130,000 in prize money and awards are up for grabs at this exciting two-day show. Saturday's feature event winner will pocket a $5000 payday. Sunday's winners will walk away with $10,000. WHO TO WATCH Things remain tight at the top of the NARC point standings, with just 16 points separating points leader D.J. Netto of Hanford and fourth place Bud Kaeding of Campbell. Netto is just five points ahead of leading Rookie of the Year candidate Tyler Thompson of Harrisburg, Oregon, while third place Sean Becker of Oroville is just seven points back of Thompson. Netto, the 2019 NARC champion, won two of the first three NARC races in 2025, but has not won since May 10th at Antioch Speedway. Netto has his share of Top 5 finishes but also has some unfortunate DNF's to go with it, but remains atop the standings. Thompson is still looking for his first career NARC victory, but has been very consistent, usually finishing the Top 10 each night. Thompson, however, has just parted ways with the Main Motorsports team and is unsure what car he will be driving this weekend. Dominic Gorden of Clovis is also expected to compete. Gorden, twice a NARC winner, won this year's Dave Bradway Jr Memorial and would like to add a Louie Vermeil win to his resume. Lincoln's Tanner Carrick, who recently matched his career best NARC finish with a runner-up at Ocean Speedway on August 2nd, is also entered and looks to earn his first NARC win at one of the biggest events of the season.   After Two Months Off, Brody Roa Is Itching To Get Back In His Racecar Saturday At Perris

  Cypress, CA - August 14, 2025 — Fifty-six days may not sound like a long time, but for 2023 USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series champion Brody Roa, it's felt like an eternity. That stretch without strapping into his sprint car ends this Saturday night when his bright green #91R rolls into the pit area at Perris Auto Speedway for battle in the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Series. Roa, who calls Garden Grove, California home, last competed at Perris on June 21. That night, the 15-year sprint car veteran was having his best outing of the season. He qualified fourth fastest of the 20-car field, advanced from fifth to fourth in his heat race, and earned the third starting spot for the main event on the famous half-mile clay oval. In the feature, the 34-year-old wasted no time charging to the front, stealing the lead coming off turn two on lap three. But moments later, a slide through turn four got a little too sideways, slowing his momentum. Another car had nowhere to go and made contact, ending Roa's night early. That charge to the lead — with the car handling better than it had all year — only made him hungrier to get back behind the wheel. "I am excited," Roa enthused on Thursday evening. "Not racing a ton this year and then taking two months off in the middle of the season. I have got the itch to go again. I have tinkered on the car a little bit over the last two months. I actually put it on the ground today and took some measurements. We are all ready to go. I think that kind of showed that by the end of the night, we were pretty good." The second-generation driver took the July race at Perris off as it was on the same day as his daughter Rylee's second birthday party. Even though he has not been in the car for nearly two months, Roa does not think there will be any issues getting back into the swing of things on Saturday. "Getting in the right mindset is not too difficult for me," he replied when asked if he is racer ready. "It takes a few laps, probably hot laps and qualifying to get things felt out again and get in a rhythm. As far as mindset goes, I have been doing it long enough that I can turn that mode on once we get to the racetrack." Roa is still looking for a ride or someone who has an engine to team up with for the upcoming USAC/CRA races at the grand reopening of the famous Calistoga Speedway on Labor Day weekend. "Nothing yet," Roa answered when asked if he had put anything together. "I have had a couple of conversations. Even if we found an engine and put it in our stuff, obviously, that is a lot of money for our team to go up and do it. I have got a little backing to do it. Just nothing with the right engine or right car to go and really make it worth it has come through yet. I am still open to something that might pop up. If it is the right opportunity, not just for me, but for the car owner or engine owner to do it, I will. As of right now, I am going to be watching on Flo." Fans eager to see Roa and the rest of the USAC/CRA stars in action can head to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday. Spectator gates open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 7:00. Tickets are $35.00 for ages 13 and up, $30.00 for seniors 65 and over, $10.00 for kids 6-12, and free for children 5 and under. The fairgrounds charge $20.00 for parking.
