- OCTOBER CLASSIC IS NEXT UP FOR THE NARC SPRINT CARS AT KERN RACEWAY
(10/20/25 - Andrew Kunas) Bakersfield, CA ... The closing stretch of the 2025 NARC 410 Sprint Car Series campaign continues with the October Classic this Saturday (October 25th), as the series makes its only appearance of the season at the Bakersfield Speedway dirt track at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway. The October Classic combo-show also features the CARS Tour and the "Harvick Showdown" with NASCAR champion Kevin Harvick and his son Keelan racing against each other in late models on the half-mile asphalt oval. The NARC show will follow that event on the neighboring dirt track, located just outside of turn four. Race fans can purchase a $30 ticket to get into both events. The pavement race starts at 6:00 p.m., the NARC show at approximately 7:30 p.m. NARC last visited the Kern Raceway dirt track this time last year, but since then the old Bakersfield Speedway in nearby Oildale closed and its operations transferred over to the dirt track at Kern. The dirt track facility now operates as Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway. The facility has also undergone improvements since NARC's last visit, including additional seating. No matter the official name of the track, action will be hot on Saturday night with much at stake. Things remain tight at the top of the NARC standings with only two events remaining. D.J. Netto of Hanford picked up an enormous victory on October 11th at Antioch Speedway to increase his point lead over Oroville's Sean Becker, who finished fourth in that race. Just 12 points now separate the two former series champions. Netto has three NARC wins on the season, including winning both Antioch races. Becker is winless on the season but has been strongly consistent all season and more than once has knocked on the door of victory. Even with Netto winning in NARC's last outing, one misstep by Netto coupled with a strong outing by Becker - or even better, a win for him - could really shake things up for the November 1st finale at the Stockton Dirt Track. WHO TO WATCH In last year's October Classic at Kern Raceway, it was San Jose's Tim Kaeding picking up the victory. The veteran racer and former NARC champion led every lap, but had to withstand a number of race stoppages and challenges for the lead along the way. Kaeding, long one of the most popular and exciting racers out of California, will be one to watch again. Another Kaeding to watch will be Tim's brother Bud, who sits third in the NARC points. The Campbell driver won his 23rd NARC feature event of his career, winning the Johnny Key Classic at Ocean Speedway in August. Clovis driver Dominic Gorden ran a strong second in the race at Antioch and set fast time in qualifying earlier that evening. Having won the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial earlier this season and posting other podium finishes, Gorden is hoping to capture a second NARC victory on the season before the season is up. Having opened in 2015, the Kern Raceway dirt track has hosted numerous sprint car races and other open wheel events on its 1/3-mile clay oval. Shane Golobic was a NARC winner in 2022 and the following year it was Corey Day picking up a win there on his way to the 2023 NARC championship. Future NARC champion Justin Sanders picked up a win there in 2021. Mariah Ede is expected to race and will look to all but wrap up NARC Rookie of the Year honors. The young lady from Fresno has had her struggles during his first year in a 410 sprint car, but has shown speed at times also. Former NARC champion Dominic Scelzi of Fresno is expected, along with Oregon driver Tanner Holmes, Templeton's Kaleb Montgomery, Lemoore's Gauge Garcia, Redding's Max Mittry, Windsor's John Clark, Gilroy's Jarrett Soares, and Benicia's Billy Aton. FAN INFO The Bakersfield Speedway dirt track at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway is located at 13500 Raceway Blvd, nearby the Interstate 5 / Hwy 43 interchange. The 1/3-mile clay oval sits just to the north of the half-mile asphalt track. WMR midgets and the SoCal dwarf cars will be joining NARC on Saturday. General admission is $30 for adults. Front gates at the dirt track open at 6:00 p.m. with racing scheduled for approximately 8:00 p.m. The Northern Auto Racing Club is the premier 410 winged sprint car series in the western United States. Since 1960, the traveling organization has thrilled fans at dirt tracks up and down the West Coast and crowned a "King of the West" champion. - Joel Myers Jr. claims Trophy Cup title/ Tanner Holmes wins $10,000 main event
Tulare, CA…Joel Myers Jr. charged from 24th to eighth in the main event on Saturday night at Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway, securing the $30,000 Abreu Vineyards Trophy Cup benefiting the Rayce Rudeen Foundation championship for the first time in his career. While Myers captured the title Jacksonville, Oregon's Tanner Holmes picked up a thrilling late race win during the 50 lap Trophy Cup finale aboard the Tarlton & Son No. 21 mount. The event featured a dramatic and exciting conclusion on Saturday night with fantastic racing right from the drop of the green flag. Oregon driver Tyler Thompson made a memorable last corner move to take the final transfer spot into the feature. He then proceeded to jump into the lead at the start of the fully inverted A-main. Thompson held command until catching the wall in turn one and getting upside down, putting him out of the race. Washington youngster Levi Hillier then inherited the lead and did an impressive job keeping the talented field at bay for several laps. Tanner Holmes moved into the runner up spot on lap 19 and then gave chase after the leader. With fans on the edge of their seats Holmes blasted to the inside on lap 28 and made it side by side for the top spot. Hillier was caught in a tough spot and contacted the wall getting upside down to bring out a red flag. With Holmes now up front he soon had to deal with a fast-moving Spencer Bayston in the Works Limited W machine. The action was fast and furious around the Thunderbowl Raceway with a close race for the lead, along with the high point drivers moving their way forward from the rear. Bayston hounded Holmes for several laps and finally made the move by on lap 46 to grab the top spot. Holmes stayed close however and made a bold move to grab the lead back coming to the white flag. Bayston attempted to take it back on the final lap, but Holmes fended him to claim his first Trophy Cup main event win. Bayston came home second, followed by 12th starting Justyn Cox, who had a stellar run and was in contention for the Trophy Cup championship at times. Eleventh starting Kaleb Montgomery and 17th starter Dominic Scelzi rounded out the top five. 23rd starter Colby Copeland, Landon Brooks, 24th starter Joel Myers Jr., Austin Wood and 21st starter Ryan Bernal completed the top 10. When all was said and done Joel Myers Jr. wrapped up the Abreu Vineyards Trophy Cup 31 title by just three points over Colby Copeland. Myers piloted the Hayward Motorsports No. 19 to the championship with a strong drive in both his heat race and the main event on Saturday night. Copeland's run was also ultra impressive after visiting the work area early in the race. Scelzi, Cox and Montgomery comprised the remainder of the top five in points. - Arkansas driver Cody Gardner stuns Thunderbowl Raceway crowd with Friday Trophy Cup victory
Tulare, CA…Making his first career start at Thunderbowl Raceway this week Benton, Arkansas racer Cody Gardner looked like a season veteran at the track on Friday night, scooping up victory at the Abreu Vineyards Trophy Cup benefiting the Rayce Rudeen Foundation. Gardner made the move by Colby Copeland and fended off a late challenge to bring home the win aboard the Burkham Contracting No. 6 Sprint Car. The 30-lap Trophy Cup night two feature started with Colby Copeland and Bud Kaeding leading the field down to green. The action was hot and heavy right off the bat, with several battles taking place throughout the field. Copeland, driving the C&M Motorsports No. 7C this weekend, shot out front ahead of Cody Gardner who claimed second early on. Gardner had picked up an impressive heat race win earlier in the program hounded the leader and would carve his way past on lap 10 to assume the point. Copeland then began to deal with a very fast Bud Kaeding, as the pair exchanged the second spot on multiple occasions. The Roseville driver eventually got the better of it and closed back in on Gardner to make it race for the win going down to the wire. Gardner was certainly kept on his toes as Copeland stayed withing striking distance for several circuits. The Arkansas wheelman was up to the challenge though and drove off to accept the Ed Entz checkered flag for the huge triumph. Copeland came home in second with Bud Kaeding rounding out the podium. Sebastopol's Joel Myers Jr. had an exciting run to finish in fourth, followed by Hollister's Ryan Bernal in fifth. Completing the top 10 were Anthony Macri, Hard Charger Justyn Cox, Tim Kaeding, Landon Brooks and Caeden Steele. Cody Gardner goes into the Trophy Cup finale with a one-point lead over Tim Kaeding. The top five drivers in points are separated by just four points in one of the closest races in recent memory. … Results Trophy Cup Night Two Thunderbowl Raceway 360 Sprint Cars 60 Entries A Feature 30 Laps | 00:21:12.471 1. 6-Cody Gardner[4]; 2. 7C-Colby Copeland[1]; 3. 29-Bud Kaeding[2]; 4. 19-Joel Myers Jr[3]; 5. 73-Ryan Bernal[8]; 6. 94TH-Anthony Macri[15]; 7. 42X-Justyn Cox[17]; 8. 0-Tim Kaeding[12]; 9. 21L-Landon Brooks[11]; 10. 121-Caeden Steele[6]; 11. - Arkansas driver Cody Gardner stuns Thunderbowl Raceway crowd with Friday Trophy Cup victory
Making his first career start at Thunderbowl Raceway this week Benton, Arkansas racer Cody Gardner looked like a season veteran at the track on Friday night, scooping up victory at the Abreu Vineyards Trophy Cup benefiting the Rayce Rudeen Foundation.
- Tim Kaeding claims opening night of Trophy Cup 31 in Tulare
Tulare, CA…San Jose's Tim Kaeding picked up victory during a wild night to open Abreu Vineyards Trophy Cup 31 benefiting the Rayce Rudeen Foundation on Thursday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare. The three-time Trophy Cup champion took the lead on lap 18 and earned his second straight triumph at Thunderbowl Raceway aboard the Williams Motorsports 0 mount. Kaeding and Oakley's Dylan Bloomfield battled tooth and nail coming down to the finish, which saw contact occur and Bloomfield unfortunately get upside down. "It is great to get another win, but I feel bad with what happened there with Dylan late in the race," Kaeding said after the feature. "I definitely didn't want it to end that way. We were racing really hard for that win, and he did a great job. I want to thank my entire team and all the people that put on this event though. Trophy Cup is a special race to a lot of people." A total of 59 cars competed on opening night of Trophy Cup 31. At the waving of the Ed Entz green flag, it was Dylan Bloomfield blasting out front from the pole position. The 18-year-old set a torrid pace early on and held the field at bay over the first half of the race. Tim Kaeding began to hound the No. 33D machine in heavy lapped traffic and as noted carved his way to the point on lap 18. Bloomfield, however, kept pace with the veteran and made it a close battle right down to the wire. With the laps ticking off Bloomfield got a great run on the leader as the crowd came to its feet. He pulled even with Kaeding and as the duo fought for the win contact ensued in turn four, resulting in Bloomfield getting upside down. Kaeding was able to keep going with nose wing damage and would lead the one lap shootout to the checkered flag. Lemoore's Gauge Garcia gave a look to the inside of Kaeding on the final restart but had to settle for a solid runner up finish aboard the Keller Motorsports No. 2K entry. Overland Park, Kansas driver Jace Park rounded out the podium to open Trophy Cup 31 at the helm of the Clayton Snow Racing No. 17 mount. It marked a career best finish at the Thunderbowl for Park. Completing the top five in the 30-lapper were Redding's Max Mittry and Washington's Trey Starks. Rounding out the top 10 in the main event were Shane Golobic, Dominic Scelzi, Landon Brooks, Bud Kaeding and Ryan Bernal. After one night of action at Trophy Cup 31 Tim Kaeding is the high points driver over Gauge Garcia and Max Mittry. Racing resumes at Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway with the second prelim on Friday night. …… Results Trophy Cup Night One Thunderbowl Raceway 360 Sprint Cars 59 Entries A Feature 1 30 Laps 1. 0-Tim Kaeding[4]; 2. 2K-Gauge Garcia[5]; 3. 17-Jace Park[3]; 4. 2XM-Max Mittry[6]; 5. 55-Trey Starks[7]; 6. 17W-Shane Golobic[8]; 7. 41-Dominic Scelzi[9]; 8. 21L-Landon Brooks[11]; 9. 29-Bud Kaeding[13]; 10. 73-Ryan Bernal[16]; 11. 21-Tanner Holmes[22]; 12. 88N-DJ Netto[12]; 13. 7C-Colby Copeland[10]; 14. 21P-Robbie Price[15]; 15. - ANTIOCH SPEEDWAY OPEN WHEEL OCTOBERFEST AWAITS NARC SPRINT CARS
(10/7/25 - Andrew Kunas) Antioch, CA ... The closing stretch of the 2025 NARC King of the West sprint car season continues this Saturday (October 11th) with the tour's second visit of the year to Antioch Speedway for the Open Wheel Octoberfest. Things have tightened up in the point standings with just three races remaining. Former series champion D.J. Netto of Hanford continues to lead in pursuit of his second NARC championship but is now holding on by a thread. Falling back to finish ninth in last Saturday's event at Thunderbowl Raceway, combined with Oroville's Sean Becker rising late to finish second, resulted in Netto's lead over Becker shrinking to just seven points. Saturday's race ironically comes at the same track where the two battled for the lead in May's Contra Costa County Clash. Becker had taken the lead, but hard racing resulted in contact between the two and Becker crashed out, and Netto went on to win his second race of the season. That was also Netto's last victory this season. Becker is winless but has been competitive all season. With the two in a close points battle with just a few races remaining, so much is on the line Saturday. Campbell's Bud Kaeding, a winner in the Johnny Key Classic in August, continues to lurk in third place in the standings, sitting a mere 21 points out of the lead. A bad night for Netto and/or Becker could potentially put Kaeding in the thick of things as well. WHO TO WATCH Tim Kaeding and the Williams Motorsports No. 0 team is expected to run the remaining NARC races this season. One of the most exciting drivers to ever come out of California, the future Hall of Famer has one NARC win to his credit this season, coming in July at Petaluma Speedway. Kaeding struggled in qualifying last Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway, but turned in a strong main event run, coming from 12th to finish fifth. Kaeding and the Zero Heroes will look to get back in the win column on Saturday. Fresno's Mariah Ede, in her first year racing 410 sprint cars, is now leading the NARC Rookie of the Year chase and is expected to race on Saturday. Joining her also is Fremont's Shane Golobic, who was the hard charger at Thunderbowl, and who won a BCRA midget race at Antioch in May and will look to pick up a sprint car win there on Saturday. Also expected to compete are reigning NARC champion Justin Sanders of Aromas, Lemoore's Gauge Garcia, Templeton's Kaleb Montgomery, Dominic Gorden of Clovis, Dylan Bloomfield of Oakley, and Max Mittry of Redding. Washington's Jesse Schlotfeldt will continue his fall swing of races in California and Oklahoma's Cannon McIntosh is expected to again pilot a Roth Motorsports entry. FAN INFO Antioch Speedway is located at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds at 1201 W 10th Street. It's an all open wheel night as the NARC 410 sprint cars will be joined by the BCRA and USAC Western States midgets. General admission for adults is $35 with kids, seniors and military getting in for $25. Front gates open at 5:00 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with qualifying and racing to follow. - Tim Kaeding returns to Thunderbowl Raceway victory lane after 10 years
Tulare, CA…After starting on the pole San Jose's Tim Kaeding checked out from the field to earn his second career Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour triumph on Saturday night at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare. Kaeding, who is the all-time leader in Winged Sprint Car wins at the track, amazingly won for the first time in Tulare since a World of Outlaws score in 2015. His victory at the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial came aboard the famed Williams Motorsports/ Emadco Disposal 0 mount. "It feels great to get back up here in victory lane at Thunderbowl Raceway," Kaeding commented. "I can't thank everyone on this 0 team enough for their support. It's been a long time since I have felt like I've been in contention at the Trophy Cup. After tonight though I feel like we have a legitimate shot at it. We are ready to get going in a couple weeks." The 30-lap Shop Kyle Larson main event started out with a red flag involving Kyle Rasmussen, who got upside down on the back stretch. He luckily emerged okay but was done for the night. When going back green again things would then go all the way throughout the conclusion. Kaeding worked lapped traffic to perfection and was never seriously challenged during the remainder of the race. He grabbed the Ed Entz pink checkered flag well ahead the rest of the field to claim the Trophy Cup Tune-Up. Redding's Max Mittry, the SCCT Speedweek champ, crossed the stripe in second to match a career best effort with SCCT, followed Oakley's Dylan Bloomfield, Fresno's Caeden Steele and Hanford's DJ Netto in the top five. Completing the top 10 were Jake Andreotti, point leader Austin Wood, Jace Park, Tanner Holmes and Pit Stop USA Hard Charger Award winner Dominic Scelzi. A total of 35 cars competed at the penultimate round of the SCCT season. Fresno's Caeden Steele began the evening by earning the Sierra Foothills Wine Services Fast Time Award by clocking a lap of 13.844 around the one third mile clay oval. The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour will now get set to finish off the 2025 season at the Stockton Dirt Track on Friday October 31st at the Stockton Dirt Track. - TANNER HOLMES IS THE NARC MAN OF THE HOUR AT TULARE
(10/4/25 - Andrew Kunas) Tulare, CA ... Four months out of someone's car? No problem for Tanner Holmes and the Tarlton Motorsports sprint car team, who found themselves in NARC victory lane together for the second time this season when they took Saturday's Chris & Brian Faria Memorial at Thunderbowl Raceway. The young Oregon driver had not been in the American Rock & Rent-sponsored No. 21 Kistler-powered Maxim since June 7th but quickly got comfortable once he was back in the car on Saturday evening. Starting from the pole after a dash win, Holmes took the lead and from there was rarely challenged as he led all 30 laps and earned his third career NARC win. That initial start was called back after another car came to a stop but on the second start Holmes took off on an open track, but did find occasional difficulty in slower traffic. Washington visitor Jesse Schlotfeldt was in position once to take a shot at Holmes in the early laps, but couldn't make a move as he also struggled occasionally. After that, Schlotfeldt couldn't get back up to Holmes, whether in the open or in traffic, and eventually pulled off the track when his car had a driveline problem occur with just a few laps remaining. After struggling with the slower cars in the first half of the race, Holmes admitted he had to get himself straight during a caution with 14 laps completed. He found his groove in the latter half of the race, and with Schlotfeldt pulling off and the race staying green, Holmes cruised in the last few laps to pick up another win at the same track where he won the first of the Twin 20's at the Morrie Williams Memorial in May. For the Tarlton Motorsports team, it was their series leading eighth NARC win on the season, with two coming from Holmes and six from Australian star James McFadden during the summer when Holmes was in his family's car. "I took advantage of that yellow and almost had a chat with myself - and gather myself - and get a little more up on the wheel," Holmes said about the caution flag coming after he managed to stay in the lead despite struggling some. "I felt like I regrouped well and knew exactly what to do. Really cool to win first night back out (in the Tarlton car)." There may have been struggles early in the feature, but the win capped off what was nearly a perfect night for the No. 21. Holmes set fast time in qualifying and won the Beacon Wealth Strategies Dash to earn the pole for the main event. The only blemish was a fourth place finish in his heat race on a freshly reworked race track. Sean Becker, who started outside the front row, fell back to sixth at one point, but after strong restart and finding his groove, Becker drove back up to third place and then inherited second when Schlotfeldt dropped out. Becker had been passed by D.J. Netto, who he was chasing for the points lead, but passed him back and Netto eventually fell back to finish ninth while Becker finished runner-up in the D&J Construction Rental-sponsored Bjork Construction No. 7b Shaver-powered Maxim, and shaved Netto's lead to just seven points unofficially in the process. Justin Sanders ran in and battled for positions in the top five throughout the race and picked up the podium finish aboard the Yuba Sutter Aviation-sponsored Mittry Construction No. 2x Rider-powered KPC. Shane Golobic earned the Williams Roofing Hard Charger nod, coming from 14th to finish fourth aboard the NOS Energy-sponsored Matt Wood Racing No. 17w Kistler-powered KPC. In addition to the $150 bonus from Williams Roofing, Golobic gained another $150 from the Western Renegades Non-Wing Sprint Car Series. The 12th starting Tim Kaeding moved up to finish fifth in the Emadco Disposal-sponsored Williams Motorsports No. 0 Maxwill-powered Maxim. Cannon McIntosh, Bud Kaeding, Dominic Scelzi, Netto and Dominic Gorden rounded out the Top 10. Heat races earlier in the evening were won by Schlotfeldt, Gauge Garcia and Sanders before Holmes won the dash. Holmes paced the 19-car field in Automotive Racing Products Qualifying, touring the 1/3-mile, high-banked clay oval in 13.587 seconds to start the evening off. - TANNER HOLMES CLAIMS FARIA MEMORIAL NARC SHOW AT TULARE
Four months out of someoneโs car? No problem for Tanner Holmes and the Tarlton Motorsports sprint car team, who found themselves in NARC victory lane together for the second time this season when they took Saturdayโs Chris & Brian Faria Memorial at Thunderbowl Raceway.
- Thunderbowl Raceway hosts penultimate SCCT event this Saturday
Tulare, CA…The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour is set to make its annual October trip to the Central Valley for this Saturday's "Chris & Brian Faria Memorial" at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare. It marks the penultimate show of the SCCT campaign and is the final opportunity for drivers to get laps at the track prior to Trophy Cup 31 on October 16th-18th. Purse info and more on the lucrative event can be found via www.tularetrophycup.com The Faria Memorial this Saturday October 4th also features the NARC 410 Sprint Cars and has long been a cornerstone on the Stone Chevrolet Buick GMC Thunderbowl Raceway schedule over the years. Chris Faria was an up and coming driver who was the youngest of five children to Danny Sr. & Arlet Faria. He grew up on their farm in Tipton and was known as the prankster of the family. Chris unfortunately lost his life at the age of 21 during a farming accident and his memory has been kept alive with a memorial race at the Thunderbowl Raceway ever since. Brian was the oldest of the five Faria children and was taken from us in January of 2006 during an accident while driving on a highway. Brian enjoyed helping out with the track preparation at the Thunderbowl, as he drove the water truck and the grader among other things. "We look forward to hosting the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial on Saturday," track GM Josh Miller said. "It's always one of the big events at Thunderbowl Raceway and having both SCCT and NARC should make for a great night of racing. We hope everyone will come out on October 4th and then return for the Trophy Cup in a couple weeks." With two events remaining in the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour season, it continues to be Austin Wood sitting atop the standings. The 15-year-old from Sacramento hung tough to record an eight-place finish during the most recent race in Petaluma and looks for another consistent outing at Thunderbowl Raceway this weekend. Wood ran eighth at Tulare during a local event in May. Yuba City's Seth Standley finished right behind Wood in the main event at Petaluma Speedway and goes into Tulare 47-markers back of the lead. Standley will be searching for a strong night at the Thunderbowl to close the gap. Rounding out the top five going into the penultimate round of the campaign are Bozeman, Montana's Cole Schroeder, Redding's Max Mittry and Marysville's Dawson Hammes. Comprising the remainder of the top 10 are Brentwood's Adrianna Demartini, Santa Rosa's Tyler Cato, Elk Grove's Bubba Decaires, Marysville's Carson Hammes and El Cajon's Braden Chiaramonte. The SCCT stop at Thunderbowl Raceway last year was captured by Lincoln's Tanner Carrick over Central Valley racer Caeden Steele and San Jose's Tim Kaeding. Tickets and Details: Adult Grandstand tickets for the Faria Memorial/ Trophy Cup Tune-Up at Thunderbowl Raceway this Saturday October 4 cost $35, while Bleacher tickets are $30. Senior and child pricing is also available. Tickets can be purchased at the gate on race day. The front grandstand gate will open at 4pm with the pit meeting held at 5pm and cars on track at 5:30. - NARC BEGINS HOME STRETCH WITH CHRIS & BRIAN FARIA MEMORIAL AT TULARE
(9/30/25 - Andrew Kunas) Tulare, CA ... The closing stretch of the 2025 NARC King of the West sprint car season is upon us. The first of four races in five weeks is this Saturday as the NARC teams tackle the famous Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare for the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial. This action-packed racing card will also feature the Sprint Car Challenge Tour 360's. The race is one of the cornerstone events at the popular 1/3-mile clay oval. First contested in 2002, the event honors a pair of brothers from the Faria family, longtime participants in California racing. Chris Faria, who was an up and coming racer, passed away after a farming accident in 1993. His older brother Brian, who was active behind the scenes at Thunderbowl Raceway, tragically passed away in early 2006 in a traffic accident, and Brian's name was soon put alongside his brother's for this race. The 2025 race was originally scheduled for April 26th, but Mother Nature interfered and forced its postponement. NARC and Thunderbowl Raceway officials agreed to reschedule the event for October 4th to start a busy stretch to finish NARC's season. The event, held at one of California's most challenging dirt tracks, has long been looked forward to by NARC competitors and fans, and the list of past winners of the race reads like a who's who of west coast sprint car racing. Jason Meyers, a future World of Outlaws champion, won the inaugural event in 2002. National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Brent Kaeding won it twice in the latter years of his legendary career. A young kid named Kyle Larson, years before the NASCAR world got to know him, was the 2010 winner of the race. NARC champions such as D.J. Netto and Kyle Hirst are also past winners. Last year's event, ironically postponed by weather to a later date also, was won by Cole Macedo aboard the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21. WHO TO WATCH Speaking of NARC champions, former series champ D.J. Netto, who lives just down the road from Thunderbowl Raceway in Hanford, holds a slim 14-point lead over another former champion in Sean Becker of Oroville. Netto has two NARC wins to his credit this season, but hasn't won since May. Netto, however, has seen success in Tulare over the years, including winning the 2015 edition of the Faria. Netto hopes his past success at Thunderbowl Raceway will continue as he seeks his second NARC championship. After winning six NARC races during the summer with Australian ace James McFadden in cockpit, the Tarlton Motorsports team will welcome back Oregon's Tanner Holmes, who piloted the car back in the spring. Holmes was victorious in NARC competition with the Tarlton team in May when he took the first of the Twin 20's at the Morrie Williams Memorial in Tulare. After piloting his family's car during the summer, Holmes will rejoin the Tarlton's and is hoping for a repeat of May this Saturday. Between Holmes and McFadden, the seven NARC wins by the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21 team are tied for the most this season with the Mittry Motorsports No. 2x, all of theirs with Justin Sanders behind the wheel. The second of the Twin 20's in May was won by Caeden Steele, and it was the young Fresno-area driver's first NARC win. Steele is another driver hoping that past history will repeat itself on Saturday. Sean Becker, despite running second in points, is winless this season, but has been competitive all season and is coming off a podium run at the last NARC race at Placerville Speedway on September 6th. Another driver expected this Saturday include Campbell's Bud Kaeding, a winner in August at the Johnny Key Classic at Ocean Speedway. Kaeding enters the night third in the points, just 23 tallies back of Netto with four races remaining. Also expected this Saturday are Dominic Scelzi of Fresno, Dominic Gorden of Clovis, Mariah Ede of Fresno, Gauge Garcia of Lemoore, Shane Golobic of Fremont, Billy Aton of Benicia, John Clark of Windsor, Kaleb Montgomery of Templeton, Tanner Carrick of Lincoln, Landon Brooks of Rio Oso, Oakley's Dylan Bloomfield and Cannon McIntosh from Bixby, OK. Arlington. Washington's Jesse Schlotfeldt will be making the journey from the Pacific Northwest also to join NARC for its remaining races. Schlotfeldt won his first career NARC event in June at Cottage Grove Speedway. FAN INFO It will be ALL sprint cars for the fans on Saturday as NARC will be joined by the 360 Sprint Car Challenge Tour. Tickets will be available at the front gate. Grandstand tickets are $35, and $33 for seniors. Bleacher seats are $30 for adults, $28 for seniors and $15 for kids 12 and under. Pit passes are $45. Front gates open at 4:00 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled for 5:45 with qualifying at 6:00 and racing beginning at 7:00 p.m. Thunderbowl Raceway is located along K Street at the Tulare County Fairgrounds. The Northern Auto Racing Club is the premier 410 winged sprint car series in the western United States. Since 1960, the traveling organization has thrilled fans at dirt tracks up and down the West Coast and crowned a "King of the West" champion. - Landon Brooks and Hamilton Racing claim opening night of the Fall Nationals
Chico, CA…Landon Brooks made the move by Dominic Gorden early and fended him off for the duration of the feature to bring home opening night of the Fall Nationals at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. The 21-year-old drove a magnificent race through lapped traffic to tally his second win in three weeks aboard the newly formed Hamilton Racing with Tiner-Hirst Enterprise No. 21L Sprint Car. "Lapped traffic was definitely treacherous in the feature," Brooks commented afterwards. "It was hard to tell where everyone was going to go at times. Luckily it worked out and we are standing up here in victory lane to open the Fall Nationals." Brooks began the evening by qualifying fourth in Group B time trials at the helm of the Lippert Construction/ Dan Ewart Sales/ VinylTech PVC Pipe No. 21L mount. He would get the jump in the night's final heat race and lead flag to flag, locking up a spot in the evening's Dash. At the waving of the green flag in the six-lap contest, Brooks got an exceptional start from row two, moving into second and then attempted to challenge the leader. He had to get out of the gas slightly though and it allowed Max Mittry the chance to get back by. He went on to cross the stripe in third, placing him on the inside of row two for the main event. When the 30-lap feature began Brooks immediately hopped up to the second spot and then began to hound leader Dominic Gorden. With seven circuits complete the Yuba City driver made his move to rocket past Gorden and assume the point. Racing through thick lapped traffic Brooks picked his spots wisely and went on to grab his second career Silver Dollar Speedway victory. "I want to send a big thanks to Steven Tiner and Kyle Hirst for getting me comfortable again," Brooks said. "We have gelled well again right off the bat and that's been great. Thank you to Dave Lippert for all his support along with Roger and Lori Hamilton for believing in us. We have a lot of great partners with this team and couldn't do it without all of them as well." Brooks and Hamilton Racing with Tiner-Hirst Enterprise will now get set to tackle Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare for the 31st running of the Trophy Cup on October 16th, 17th and 18th. "I am really happy with our speed right now going into Trophy Cup," he stated. "I look forward to the event, as I've ran well in Tulare with Steven and Kyle previously, so hopefully we can continue that in a few weeks." - NARC BEGINS HOME STRETCH WITH CHRIS & BRIAN FARIA MEMORIAL AT TULARE
- Andy Forsberg surges to another Adobe Cup win at Petaluma Speedway
Petaluma, CA…Andy Forsberg got by Justyn Cox in lapped traffic and went to grab his second consecutive Adobe Cup triumph with the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday at Petaluma Speedway. The Auburn veteran piloted the familiar Pacific Highway Rentals No. 92 Sprinter to his eighth career SCCT victory, which ranks fourth on the all-time win list. "The track was hooked up tonight and that is right up my alley as everybody knows," Forsberg said after his third Sprint Car Challenge Tour win of the season. "I grew up racing on tracks like this, so I think it definitely gives me an advantage. Thank you to the entire PHR 92 team for doing a great job and giving me a rocket ship in the feature." The 35-lap Shop Kyle Larson main event got off to a ragged start when Tyler Cato went upside down on the front stretch. He emerged okay but was done for the night. When the Scott Erwin green flag waved for a second time it was outside front row starter Justyn Cox jumping to the early lead. Cox had a fantastic night going and held command over Sean Becker and Andy Forsberg during the early stages. Once traffic came into play it became a high-speed chess match between the top trio as they kept fans on the edge of their seats. With 10 laps complete Forsberg carved his way past Becker and then set his sights on the leader. Cox was working traffic to perfection up till that point, but got caught behind a car on lap 18 and that's all Forsberg needed to slice his way by to assume the point. At the same time Becker slipped under Cox to claim the runner up spot. Forsberg ultimately withstood a few more slowdowns and went on to accept the checkered flag over Cox, who got back by Becker on lap 25. The Clarksburg native had been one of the hottest drivers at Placerville Speedway to end the season and parlayed that into a strong night at Petaluma, where he qualified second, ran second in his heat race, the dash and the main event. Becker, who began the evening by setting the Sierra Foothills Wine Services Fast Time Award, rounded out the podium, with High Sierra Industries Dash winner Brad Bumgarner and Livermore's Travis Labat rounding out the top five. Completing the top 10 in the feature were Pit Stop USA Hard Charger John Clark, Gilroy's Kurt Nelson, point leader Austin Wood of Sacramento, Yuba City's Seth Standley and Marysville's Carson Hammes. The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour will head next for Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare on Saturday October 4th. The Chris & Brian Faria Memorial acts as the official Trophy Cup Tune-Up race. - Petaluma Speedway Adobe Cup welcomes SCCT this Saturday
Petaluma, CA…With the season winding down the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour is prepared to sanction the $5,000-to-win "Adobe Cup" at Petaluma Speedway this Saturday September 20th. The evening of family fun at the 14th annual Adobe Cup marks the final appearance of the season for SCCT at Sonoma County's longest running entertainment venue. Following this Saturday's outing the Sprint Car Challenge Tour will have just two events remaining in 2025. Adding to the excitement at the event will be the annual Bob McCoy Super Stock Memorial, along with the BCRA-WMR Midget Super Series. The familiar Petaluma 3/8-mile oval routinely produces thrilling wheel-to-wheel racing, as lapped traffic can create some of the most frenetic competition of any venue on tour. Please note the facility features an earlier start time, with the Pit Meeting at 3:45pm and cars on track around 4. "We look forward to having the Sprint Car Challenge Tour as part of the 14th annual Adobe Cup this weekend," said Petaluma Promoter Rick Faeth. "Petaluma Speedway doesn't hold as many Winged Sprint Car shows nowadays, but the fans have certainly flocked to the track when we have. The Bob McCoy Memorial has also become a big stock car race, and the Midget Super Series has been successful this season, so we think this will be a superb program for everyone to attend." This Saturday's 14th annual Adobe Cup marks the first event for the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour since finishing WST Speedweek in July. Sacramento's Austin Wood goes into Petaluma sitting atop the standings, as he looks to become the youngest SCCT champion in its history. Wood hopes to secure his first win of the season at the Adobe Cup. Yuba City's Seth Standley has moved to second in the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour standings following Speedweek. Standley finds himself 46 points back of Wood and will be gunning for a solid night at the Adobe Cup to help close the gap. Cole Schroeder has also been a common sight this year and has positioned himself third in the points with three shows remaining. The Bozeman, Montana driver stands 50 markers out of the top spot heading into the $5,000-to-win Adobe Cup. Western Sprint Tour Speedweek champion Max Mittry of Redding and Marysville's Dawson Hammes complete the top five in the Sprint Car Challenge Tour standings with three rounds left. The remainder of the top 10 in SCCT points is filled out by Santa Rosa's Tyler Cato, Brentwood's Adrianna Demartini, Elk Grove's Bubba Decaires, Marysville's Carson Hammes and El Cajon's Braden Chiaramonte. Multi-time Adobe Cup winner Andy Forsberg will be one of the favorites in the field on Saturday. The two-time SCCT champ ran second to first time Sprint Car Challenge Tour winner Chance Grasty during the visit in June. Tickets and Details: Grandstand seating is general admission this Saturday September 20th at Petaluma Speedway. Adult tickets cost $25; while seniors 65 and older, juniors ages 12-16 and military are $22. Kids 6-11 cost $10 and those five and under are free. - Visiting Drivers Join USAC/CRA Regulars at Perris Auto Speedway Saturday
Perris, California — August 13, 2025 — When Heimark Distributors/Anheuser Busch presents the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, August 16th, the series regulars will have company. Five series non-regulars — Max Adams, Marty Hawkins, Heath Holdsclaw, Chris Gansen, and Brody Roa — will take on the fastest traditional sprint cars west of the Mississippi. Also on the card are the PASSCAR Super and Street Stocks. Adams, a Loomis, California native now based in Indiana, will pilot a Dwight Cheney-owned car. The 2016 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year and 2020 Gas City Speedway champion owns four career USAC/CRA wins. He posted single wins in 2017 and 2018 at the Santa Maria Speedway. His last series triumphs came four years ago when he scored wins two weeks apart at Kern and the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare. Hawkins, from Santa Rosa, which is about an hour north of San Francisco, returns to The PAS for the first time in over a decade. While he is from Northern California, he is no stranger to the area, as he attended college in Azusa. The likable driver has one win with USAC/CRA. That came at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville in 2013. He'll be driving for Cheney and Hawkins Motorsports on Saturday. Holdsclaw makes the long trip from Meadow Vista, located between San Francisco and Reno, for his second PAS start of the year. On his first trip to the Riverside County half-mile clay oval in July, he qualified 17th and placed eighth in his heat. He wrapped up the night by steering his dad, Tony's sharp #33 Maxim Chassis/Don Ott Engine from 16th to 13th in the 30-lap main event. Veteran Gansen will make his 2025 season debut on Saturday. A past series regular, the Verdemont Heights driver has been focusing on his 10-year-old son Landon's quarter midget career for the past two years. The longtime USAC/CRA competitor's family has deep roots at the track, competing in lightning sprints, midgets, sprint cars, and now quarter midgets at the track located just behind the PAS main grandstands. While Roa, the 2023 USAC/CRA champion, is considered a track regular, he missed the last PAS race as it fell on the same day as his daughter Rylee's second birthday party. Earlier this season, he posted finishes of 6th, 7th, 8th, and 21st. The latter came on June 21st. After steering his bright green #91R into the lead, the 34-year-old was knocked out of the race after contact with another car. They'll all face stiff competition from PAS regulars, including point leader Ricky Lewis, defending champ RJ Johnson, "The Big Game Hunter" Austin Williams, A.J. Bender, David Gasper, July PAS winner Tommy "Thunder" Malcolm, Matt Mitchell, and more. Tickets: Adults (13+) $35, Kids (6-12) $10, Children 5 & under free. Fairgrounds parking $20. Advance Tickets: tix.com/ticket-sales/pas/7 — Walk-up sales available at the gate. The famous track is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds at 18700 Lake Perris Drive in the City of Perris. Tickets for the September 13th World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Cars and Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car doubleheader are available at https://bit.ly/42Dssil.
