- Cap Henry overcomes early race mishap to win All Star event at Fremont
FREMONT, Ohio - I get knocked down, but I get up again...you are never gonna keep me down. I get knocked down, but I get up again. You are never gonna keep me down." - Tubthumping by Chumbawamba. That describes Cap Henry Friday, Sept. 12 at Fremont Speedway presented by Gill Construction. The Republic, Ohio driver slid off the high side of turn four battling to retain the lead on lap six of the 35-lap NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions Presented by Valvoline and slid back to fifth. It looked like Henry's bid for another feature win was in jeopardy. Darin Naida took the lead and fended off several challenges from Bryce Lucius despite a hand full of cautions which necessitated a fuel stop on lap 17. Henry had raced his way back to second. When the race resumed Naida now held off challenges from Henry. With 10 laps to go Henry drove under Naida to take the lead and despite a caution with four laps to go, drove off to his fifth win of the season at "The Track That Action Built" on Kistler Engines Night over Kasey Jedrzejek, Naida, 22nd starter Kalib Henry and Cale Thomas. Henry's charge from 22nd to fourth keeps him atop the All Star championship chase heading into their last event Saturday at Fremont. It is Henry's 16 overall victory of 2025 (leads the nation), his third straight All Star win and 11th series victory of his career and his first at Fremont since 2020. He now has 26 career wins at Fremont Speedway "I watched a pretty cool interview with Bloomquist (Scott) and Stewart (Tony) a couple of weeks ago and it was talking about driver intros and nobody saying anything when they get introduced and Bloomquist going and half the field booing and half the field cheering and Tony said the same thing and Earnhardt telling him if everybody is quiet no one likes you at all. I'm just proud of my guys. That was a tough deal there losing the lead. I thought that was going to be detrimental and we go that open red and Zack (Myers, crew chief) kind of tweaked on that thing a little and we got to move around a little bit and figure the car out. To have a season like this I honestly never thought it would happen. I'm just so grateful for everybody. Fremont's always been special and the Jim Ford Classic is special to me," said Henry beside his Premier Planning Service, Jeff Ward Demolition, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Innovative Excavating, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, King Racing, Griff's Engines; Berryman Racing Shocks, Callie's Performance Products, Dyers, Power Cool Manufacturing, SCS Gearbox, Tony Elliott Foundation backed #33W. Jedrzejek, who won last Saturday at Fremont, a collapsed front wing early had him scrambling. "We were solid all night. The nose wing fell down the first lap of the race. I just tried to limp my way to the open red and stay up as far front as I could. Once we got that fixed I took a few laps to figure out where to put my top wing and we started passing some cars. Wish we could have gotten to lapped traffic to see if we had anything for Cap," said Jedrzejek. Naida was disappointed after leading a lot of laps. "We've been struggling a little on and off here all year with just difference stuff but Fremont just kind of feels like home for it. We've been really good here all year early in the night when it has moisture in it…need to get better when it dries out," said Naida. The Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks were split into two fields for two feature events. In the first 25-lap feature Craig Dippman took the lead on lap three and held off challenge after challenge from Shawn Valenti to score his second career Fremont win. In the second feature Steve fended off challenges the final three laps by Kent Brewer to score his second career Fremont win. The 18th Annual Jim Ford Classic will wrap up Saturday, Sept. 13 at Fremont Speedway for the $10,000 to win All Star event, the 139th visit of the series to Fremont. The All Stars will crown their 2025 champion as well. The 305 sprints will also be in competition. - Jedrzejek dominates at Fremont; Henry earns AFCS title
FREMONT, Ohio - Kasey Jedrzejek was a man on a mission Saturday, Sept. 6 at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction on Baumann Auto Group Night. The 20-year-old from Lagrange, Ohio cut a tire leading the previous night and set out to prove how fast his Ed Neumeister Racing team is, winning by over four seconds in the 30 non-stop laps of the 410 sprint A-main for his second victory of the year at "The Track That Action Built." Jedrzejek, who won the 305 sprint feature Friday at Attica, scored his third 410 sprint victory of 2025 aboard his Mr. Heater, Heat Star, Cherry's Outdoor World, Cherry's Propane, Team Line'm Up, Ronda Jedrzejek at Howard Hanna, Sips & Such Social House, Perfection Fabricators, Greber Racing Components, Dibaggio Family, Southgate Lanes, Nagy Coatings, Fisher Custom Printing, Stars & Stripes Tool, Heitmeyer Concrete backed #11N. "I got to start on the front row with my buddy Mike (Keegan) thanks to him rolling the eight inversion. We've been pretty good here all season. Once I got by the lapped cars…a few in one lap and I felt pretty good about that and didn't have too much pressure. I have to thank Ed for giving me this opportunity and John, Kent Jason… they all did a good job working on the car all week. We swapped an engine after last night," said Jedrzejek. Keegan led the first seven laps before Jedrzejek took over and drove away to his third career win at Fremont. Zeth Sabo who won the previous night at Attica came home second with Cap Henry, Keegan and Nate Dussel rounding out the top five. Henry wrapped up his fourth championship in the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group. It's his third straight series title. "It was a really good weekend. Obviously when you've been as good as we have this year (15 wins) you want to keep winning races but you can't win them all. Howdy (Zeth Sabo) was good last night and the 11N car was good tonight. I'm proud of my guys. We've put a really good season together. To come in here tonight and have the title wrapped up is pretty cool and it shows how hard my guys have worked all year," said Henry. Zack Kramer led the first nine laps of the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints feature before fourth starter Logan Riehl took over. Riehl, the division's rookie of the year in 2020, steadily pulled away while Dustin Stroup moved into second. Riehl got an excellent restart following a caution with just four laps to go and drove to his first win of the season, his second career victory at Fremont, over Stroup, Steve Rando, Kramer and Seth Schneider. "Beginning of the year we had a bunch of motor issues. We got that figured out and then we had parts failures. I don't remember last time we finished a race. I knew at the beginning of the race we had a really good car and I just had to hit my marks. I have to thank RCF Chassis, my dad and mom, my fiancée and everyone on the car," said Riehl beside his Riehl Custom Fabrication and Repair, Cornerstone Farms, Bascom Diesel Supply, Larry Riehl, Milligan's Irish Pub backed #9R. Jamie Miller wrapped up his third Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz Attica Fremont Championship Series title. "We've been struggling the past few weeks after starting the season so strong. We gained on it tonight and we will get back to where we were. It feels good to win another AFCS championship," said Miller. Chuck Roelle led the opening lap of the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck feature before Kent Brewer took over. Following a caution on lap five, eighth starter Shawn Valenti drove into second and quickly challenged Brewer. The duo put on a heck of a show battling for the lead with Valenti taking over the top spot on lap 11. Following a caution on lap 13, Valenti and Brewer again resumed their entertaining battle for the lead with Keith Sorg joining in the fun. A caution on the white flag lap set up a green-white-checker finish and Valenti held off Brewer for his seventh victory of the season. Valenti now has 89 career wins at Fremont to lead all drivers in the track's history. He hasn't finished out of the top two at Fremont all season long. Brewer, Sorg, Dan Hennig and Craig Dippman rounded out the top five." "This thing has been amazing. I never dreamed I'd get one win here let alone 89 now. I have to thank Jeff Babcock, Squirrel, my wife and kids," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Smolders Speed Concepts, Holman Drilling, S&S Hauling and Excavating backed #7B. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12 and 13 for the 18th Annual Jim Ford Classic. The dirt trucks join the NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions on Friday while the 305 sprints join the All Stars on Saturday. It's championship weekend for the All Stars. - Sabo gets 410 win, Henry Attica title; Moore takes late model win and track title; Jedrzejek gets 305 win and Schneider gets track title
ATTICA, Ohio - Zeth Sabo has been so close to winning a 410 sprint car feature in 2025 only to see some mechanical issues or some bizarre circumstance get in the way. The Tiffin, Ohio driver was able to put together a very solid night Friday, Sept. 5, at Attica Raceway Park to score his third career win at the track on Ferguson Waterworks/Kistler Racing Products/Custom Chrome Plating Presents the Mark Keegan Classic. It looked like Kasey Jedrzejek, fresh off his first All Star Circuit of Champions win on Aug. 31 at Wayne County Speedway, was going to get his first 410 sprint win of the year at Attica as he led the first 16 laps. A flat front tire sent him to the pits and handed the lead to Sabo, who had stayed within striking distance the first half of the race. Sabo, aboard his Level Utilities/NAPA Auto Parts/Limo Scene Limo Services/Kiser Sound/Valvoline/Linder's Speed Equipment/Adaptive OWE/BSE Fabrication backed machine, had to hold off a late race challenge in lapped traffic from Cap Henry and claimed an additional $1,000 bonus for claiming the bounty on Henry. "I can't thank my guys enough. We've been busting tail lately and just weird things have happened that we've never had happen before. I have to thank Rich and Shelly Farmer for letting me do what I've always wanted to do and letting all of us go the races every weekend. To do this on the last night of the year at Attica on the Mark Keegan Classic is pretty cool," said Sabo. Henry, who won the last four features in a row at Attica, settled for second and claimed his third straight Callie's Performance Products 410 Sprint track title, his fourth overall at the track. Craig Mintz, Trey Jacobs and Mike Keegan rounded out the top five. "I really wanted to win that race. We've never won the Mark Keegan Classic. I'm proud of my guys. It's been a really good year. Minus the Outlaw shows we had a 100 percent podium rate here," said Henry. Henry's runner-up finish wrapped up his third straight and fourth overall championship in the Kistler Racing Products/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group and its $10,000 top prize. Ken Hahn led the first two laps of the Dirt Nerds Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Model feature before Mike Bores took over for two laps surrendering the lead to Devin Shiels on lap six with fourth starter Kyle Moore taking over the lead on lap seven. Moore battled Shiels for a hand full of laps before pulling away to score his fifth Attica win of 2025 aboard his Kepling Flooring, Tye Tworg Longhorn, Joyride Transportation, Smitley Towing, Short Stop, Malcuit Race Engines, Wilson Realty, Robin Jakubick, RL Bond Septic, Hepthorn Golf Cart Sales, House of Spud, K&B Septic Service, Coffman Composites, Team Midwest Paint, Platinum Design backed #1*. His 11th career win at Attica brings his total feature win tally to 19 overall in 2025 and came over Shiels, Ryan Markham, JR Gentry and Gregg Haskell. Moore earned his second straight Attica late model championship as well. "This is a great facility. The fans are the best and thanks to Justin Liskai and the Bores family for being stand-up people. They went to bat for me this week and I appreciate it. Without Justin and John Bores I wouldn't have been here tonight. There's some stuff going on behind the scenes and it will take care of itself. I want to thank my crew, my brother Brad, Froggy, Barry, Team Skinny, my family and everyone on this car," said Moore. Jedrzejek got a little redemption in the Fremont Fence 305 A-main, leading all 25 laps for his fifth career division win at Attica. Dustin Stroup, Blayne Keckler (from 11th), Jimmy McGrath (from 18th) and Seth Schneider rounded out the top five. "Jimmy (Taddeo, car owner) brings the best stuff to the track and gives us the best chance every time we come out with this car," said Jedrzejek beside his Greber Racing Components, KMU Residential, UD Maintenance, John Wright Custom Chrome, Ronda Jedrzejek at Howard Hanna, Heat Star, Mr. Heater, Fisher Custom Printing, Northern Ohio Septic and Sewer, A+Creations, Amherst Auto Body backed #4T. Schneider, from Fremont, earned his first ever Attica track championship. "I slowed up and didn't take any chances the last part of that race…I didn't want to screw up. This track championship means a lot. I was pretty much garbage for about two to three seasons in a row coming into this season and I have to thank my wife…she could have told me to quit. Kevin put a lot of effort and money into this car and it's been bad ass. Aaron Hammer and Guy Myers put a lot of effort into this car and it's been pretty awesome," said Schneider. Jamie Miller was scheduled to start on the pole for the feature but mechanical issues forced him to the tail and he charged to a ninth place finish. However, the points battle for the Real Geese/Design Graphics Group/ Real Capz Attica Fremont Championship Series for the 305 sprints will now come down to Saturday, Sept. 6 at Fremont Speedway. The staff at Attica Raceway Park thanks all the fans, race teams and marketing partners for another fantastic year of racing and looks for to March 2026 to do it all again. - Mintz kisses the cow at Fremont for 305 fair race win
FREMONT, Ohio - Craig Mintz started racing sprint cars 25 years ago in the 305 sprint division. He's not sure he ever got a win in that class but he is sure not. Mintz, from Gibsonburg, Ohio, drove to the win Monday, Aug. 18 on Fremont Fence Kiss the Cow Night in the 305 sprint feature at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction. The race opened the 173rd Sandusky County Fair. Bryan Sebetto led the first seven laps of the 30-lap Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint feature before Mintz took over. Mintz, a four time 410 sprint champion at "The Track That Action Built," built a substantial lead before a caution flew at the half-way mark. He pulled away when the green came back out while Sebetto soon surrendered second to Kasey Jedrzejek and third to Kalib Henry. Another caution with just four laps to go kept Mintz out of heavy lapped traffic. Mintz pulled away for his 19th career Fremont win over Jedrzejek, Sebetto, Henry and Dustin Stroup. Mintz donated the $1,500 top prize to the Liberty Center, which helps individuals, families with children, the homeless and domestic violence survivors. "This is a blast. I have to thank Gressman Powersports for putting a pretty good bullet under this thing. I don't know…I'll have to look back…but I don't think we've ever won a 305 race here. I have to thank my dad…it's just me and him tonight with my family," said Mintz beside his Real Geese Decoys, Elite Wings, Post 733 Bettsville American Legion, Design Graphics Group, Kistler Racing Engines, Keizer Wheels, Linder Speed Equipment backed #09. In the ladies powder puff dirt truck race, Shelly Farmer took her second career win a Fremont Speedway. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 6 for championship night for the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group for the 410 sprints and the Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz AFCS for the 305 sprints with the Burmeister Dirt Trucks also in action. - Brubaker breaks year drought with 410 Fremont win; Moore gets 1st non-wing victory
FREMONT, Ohio - It's been over a year since Stuart Brubaker last visited the Beaverdam Fleet Services Victory Lane at Fremont Speedway presented by Gill Construction. The Helena, Ohio driver threw that gorilla off his back Saturday, Aug. 2, claiming his 10th career victory at "The Track That Action Built" on Chamber of Commerce of Sandusky County/Sandusky County Visitors Bureau Night. Brubaker, who started fourth in the 30-lap feature, took the lead from TJ Michael on lap four and picked his way through heavy lapped traffic to earn his first 410 sprint car win since July 6, 2024. Current Fremont point leader Cap Henry, Jamie Miller, Darin Naida and DJ Foos rounded out the top five. "It's been forever…and it's not for lack of effort. These guys have been busting their asses. I think we've switched cars every two or three weeks. Actually I came to the shop Monday and they were putting this car together. We've been working on it…we've just been rolled up for the last year. This is an X1 and I've been talking to Ryan Linder on the phone…today for probably 45 minutes. I have to thank Ashton, Brad, Bill and Ron…if not for them we couldn't be here," said Brubaker beside his Pit Stop of Tiffin, Black Swamp Heating & Cooling, Story Equipment, Gary Holland Trucking, Seamless Gutters by Josh Kromer, Finish Line Fuel, Handy Grafix backed #35. Shawn Valenti looked to be heading to victory lane for the 89th time of his career at Fremont in the non-wing American Sprint Car Tour, but a tangle with a lapped car with just six laps to go handed the lead to Mike Moore. Moore, from Fostoria, drove a perfect six laps to score his first career win at Fremont Speedway. "Since they had this race on the calendar last year I marked it. I texted Rich (Farmer, track promoter) last year and told him thanks for bringing this series out here. This whole steel block deal is perfect for somebody like me. We don't have deep pockets…try to run with the 305 guys but they are just so tough. To be able to pull this off is so awesome especially at my home track. I was just trying to be smart. I knew if we hugged the bottom we were good. I had nothing for Shawn but it all worked out for us," said Mike Moore beside his Ridez Restored, Subway Restaurants, Bodnar Detailing backed #5M. ATTICA, Ohio - Leading the 37th Annual Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic Presented by dac® Vitamins and Minerals Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park wasn't easy. The race featured five different lead changes and at the end of the 40 laps it was Lemoore, California's Carson Macedo scoring the $15,000 payday for his first Brad Doty Classic victory. There was an old saying in the early days of the Brad Doty Classic - the driver leading at lap 30 did not win the race. That held true Tuesday except three different drivers lead the final 10 circuits. Buddy Kofoid lead the first seven laps of the race with Kyle Larson leading laps 8 and 9 before Kofoid regained the lead and looked headed to the win. But, Kofoid was the first driver to fall victim to the turn four cushion on lap 31. Sheldon Haudenschild then took over and also appeared to be heading to victory lane until turn four bit him as well on lap 36. Macedo led the final four laps for his sixth World Of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink win of 2025 aboard his Jason Johnson Racing/Albaugh Your Alternative/Mesilla Valley Transportation/Tarleton & Son/Saich Family/Scott Boyd Family/Complete Parts/Border International backed #41. Macedo, whose brother Cole who won the High Limit race the previous night at Fremont Speedway, now has six career wins at Attica Raceway Park. Kofoid, Donny Schatz (from 16th), Logan Schuchart and Larson rounded out the top five. "A lot of the race I really didn't know where to be. I was just kind of went where I felt the most decent. I was playing a lot of defense…I felt like you had to get really good runs off the corners to get away from somebody not to actually run the top on either end without somebody dirtying up your line and getting in front of you. A lot of races at Attica get won or lost in the last stages of the race. I just really tried to pace myself," said Macedo. A scary incident during the Micro-Lite Last Chance Showdown resulted in Kalib Henry being transported via helicopter to a Toledo Hospital. Attica Raceway Park, the World of Outlaws and all the race teams and fans are praying for Henry's recovery. Attica Raceway Park will be back in action Friday, July 25 with the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group 410 sprints, the Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz AFCS 305 Sprints and the Dirt Nerds Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Models in action. - Cole Macedo wins drama filled High Limit Racing event at Fremont
FREMONT, Ohio - Most racers like to do victory donuts. Not Cole Macedo. The Lemoore, California native won his first national touring race Monday, July 14 at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction and after taking the checkers hopped the right rear of another car and flipped. But, the win against the Kubota High Limit Racing Series Roto-Rooter Midweek Series stood for Macedo, who moved to Fremont, Ohio a few years ago to pursue a career in sprint car racing. Macedo, who is vying for the rookie of the year honors with the World of Outlaws aboard the 2C racing owned by Todd and Kelly Carlile, served notice he was the car to beat on Kistler Racing Products Night. He set fast time in qualifications, then driving from fourth to his heat race win, and dominating he dash to start on the pole of the 35 lap, $12,000-to-win feature. Macedo led every lap of the A-main, though it wasn't easy as Kyle Larson pressured him the final nine laps and he had to deal with very heavy lapped traffic from lap 10 to the end. After the flip at the end of the race, the team held their breath as the car had to be lowered onto the scales by a wrecker, creating a tense few minutes before it was announced Macedo had made weight. "I thought I had lost the race when I flipped. I didn't see the checkers. This is so awesome to do this in front of the friends and family I made here…I grew up here. I love this race track. I had to really push the team to come to this race and it paid off," said Macedo beside his Outlaw Wings, Rod End Supply, Wedge High Performance Karts, Keizer Wheels backed machine. "Wayne and all the guys have been working so hard this year. We've had speed but just couldn't seal the deal. This gives me a huge burst of confidence and hopefully we can get a lot more of these national series wins," added Macedo of his 11th career win at Fremont. Rounding out the top five were Larson, Tyler Courtney, Brad Sweet and Brent Marks. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, July 26 on Pirate Invasion Night featuring the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group 410 sprints, the Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz AFCS 305 Sprints and the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks. - Cap Henry earns 3rd straight 410 win; Rando gets 1st 305 victorty of 2025, Sorg stops Valenti's truck win streak
FREMONT, Ohio - Cap Henry is ready to take on the stars of the Kubota High Limit Sprint Car Series when they come to Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction on Monday, July 14. The former Fremont track champion picked up his third straight win at "The Track That Action Built" on Crown Battery Night, Saturday, July 12. Henry, who has eight total wins in 2025 led all 30 laps of the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints to earn his 25th career victory at the track and the fourth of the year at Fremont. Henry, from Republic, Ohio, has seven podium finished at Fremont out of eight events in 2025. Henry, who started fourth, won by over three seconds over Cole Duncan, Kalib Henry, Daison Pursley (from 16th) and Chris Andrews. "I felt pretty good on the opening lap and saw everyone leave the bottom open and I saw how sticky it was and knew it was one of those one shot deals. I hate leading that long but Zack (Meyers) told me what to do under those cautions. The last five I kind of felt I was hanging and maybe a sitting duck. I tried to move around on the white flag lap. I'm proud of my guys. We changed engines this week getting ready for the big week we've got coming," said Henry beside his Premier Planning Service, Jeff Ward Demolition, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Innovative Excavating, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, King Racing, Griff's Engines; Berryman Racing Shocks, Callie's Performance Products, Dyers, Power Cool Manufacturing, SCS Gearbox, Tony Elliott Foundation backed #33W. It's been a few years since Steve Rando visited Beaverdam Fleet Services Victory Lane at Fremont Speedway. The Lindsey, Ohio driver put on a dominating drive in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 30 Sprints to score his 12th career win at Fremont. Jimmy McGrath, Jamie Miller, Seth Schneider and Blayne Keckler from 16th rounded out the top five. "We've been struggling a lot lately with this car and we're finally figuring some things out. We got a second here last week," said Rando beside his Bill Tool & Machine, Davis Fabricators, Wolf Pack Tree Service, Attitudes Hair Salon, Triple L. Logistics, Foster's Auto Body, Pub 400, Gressman Powersports, Dynamic Coatings #19R. Keith Sorg and Shawn Valenti battled side by side lap after lap in the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck feature, swapping the lead multiple times. Sorg, a three time truck champion, held on for his first win of the season, stopping a six win streak for Valenti. It was Sorg's ninth career win at Fremont and it came over Valenti, Jamie Miller, Kent Brewer and Steve Miller. "It's great to beat Shawn. It was fun and tiring," said Sorg beside his Fremont Fence; M&L Excavating, Westend Tire, Great Lakes Garage Door backed #4S. - T.J.’s Notebook: Storylines Going Into Eldora Weekend
The week of the 42nd Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway will be the busiest in event history for race teams and fans with racing throughout the start of Ohio kicking off tonight at Fremont Speedway with the High Limit Sprint Car Series and culminating in the $200,000 to win finale on Saturday night at Eldora Speedway.
- Finally Fremont!
Persistent rain showers on May 14 delayed Kubota High Limit Racing's debut at Fremont Speedway by exactly two months. But now, it's time for the High Rollers to invade Northwest Ohio for race No. 7 of the Roto-Rooter Midweek Series!
- Cap Henry gets 3rd Fremont win; Stroup earns 305 victory; Valenti gets 6th straight truck win
FREMONT, Ohio - With several big events coming up in the region with national touring series and stars in winged 410 racing in competition, Cap Henry is serving notice the "regular" drivers at Fremont Speedway are ready for the challenge. Henry scored his third win of the year at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction Saturday, July 5 on Willie's Sales and Service Pack the Stands Night. Henry, who started sixth in the 30-lap Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint A-main, took the lead from Zeth Sabo on lap nine and drove to his 24th career win at "The Track That Action Built." It is his seventh overall victory of 2025. Sabo, Chris Andrews, Bryce Lucius and Joel Myers Jr. rounded out the top five in front of a standing room crowd. The win also pads Henry's lead as he looks to claim a second straight All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group. Henry finished second on Friday in the AFCS event at Attica Raceway Park, getting passed on the last corner of the last lap while leading. "I couldn't really see the scoreboard the last couple of laps and I got boxed in there in turn three coming to the white flag and I messed up getting in three and I had no momentum and I thought here we go again. I got to that moisture spot off of four and just matted it. I really proud of these guys. Zack (Meyers) was just turning knobs and wrenches in staging right before the race. Usually that means it's going to be really good or really bad and he got it right," said Henry beside his Premier Planning Service, Jeff Ward Demolition, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Innovative Excavating, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, King Racing, Griff's Engines; Berryman Racing Shocks, Callie's Performance Products, Dyers, Power Cool Manufacturing, SCS Gearbox, Tony Elliott Foundation backed #33W. Fremont, Ohio's Dustin Stroup spun late in the race Friday at Attica as he tried to get the win. He redeemed himself Saturday at Fremont, taking the lead on lap 14 and driving to his first victory of the year at Fremont in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints. It's his 13th career win at the track. Paul Weaver led the first 12 laps before Steve Rando took over for a lap with Stroup taking the top spot a lap later. A late race caution with just three laps to go gave Rando a shot at the leader but Stroup drove away to the win, his third overall in 2025, over Rando, Weaver, Jamie Miller and Seth Schneider. Miller's fourth place run adds to his lead in the Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz AFCS standings as he looks to repeat as the series champion. "I had a little fire under my ass tonight. Me and Jamie (Miller) raced real hard last night at Attica and coming down for the white flag I made a mistake. I was pretty ticked off about it. Tonight we got it done," said Stroup beside his Pizza House Clyde, Mama Dukes TRP, GCE LLS., Myer's Racing Engines, Midwest Dyno Services, Sulphur Town Pub, The Bowman Family, Warwick Entertainment, Bobby's Truck, Auto and Bus Repair, Wear A Print LLC, TME Services, Advance Auto Parts, Eye Candy Custom Cycles #10X. Fostoria, Ohio's Shawn Valenti took the lead from Dustin Keegan on lap seven of the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck A-main and drove to his sixth straight win at Fremont after opening the season with a runner-up finish. The four time truck track champion sits atop Fremont's all-time win list with 88 career victories. Valenti had to deal with heavy lapped traffic the last third of the feature but he held off Jamie Miller with Keegan, Kent Brewer and Scott Milligan rounding out the top five. "I wasn't sure which way I needed to go and luckily I picked the right holes…I about got held up here on the last lap in three. Heck of a crowd here tonight and hopefully we put on a good show for them," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Smolders Speed Concepts, Holman Drilling, S&S Hauling and Excavating #7B. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, July 12 for Crown Battery Night with the 410 and 305 sprints and dirt trucks on Date Night. The Kubota High Limit Sprint Car Series will be at The Track That Action Built Monday, July 14 with NASCAR star Kyle Larson and series stars Rico Abreu, Aaron Reutzel, Brad Sweet and others in action. - Grants gets 1st Fremont win as USAC returns
FREMONT, Ohio - Justin Grant is having a great month of June. The Ione, California driver drove to his third consecutive USAC Amsoil Sprint Car National Champion Series win Saturday, June 28 on Sandusky Bay Remodeling Night at Fremont Speedway presented by Gill Construction. Grant inherited the lead when Robert Ballou, who had a nearly three second lead, flipped on lap 13. Grant held off many challenges from defending USAC sprint car champion Logan Seavey to score his sixth wingless feature win of 2025 and his 60th career USAC sprint car victory. It's his 10th overall USAC win this year as he leads the National Silver Crown and Midget series points and sits second in the sprint car division. Should Grant be able to pull off winning all three USAC titles he would garner $500,000. It was Grant's first career win at Fremont as USAC returned to "The Track That Action Built" for the first time in 22 years. Current USAC sprint car point leader Kyle Cummins finished third with Mitchel Moles and early race leader Chase Stockon rounding out the top five. "To be honest every time I came in I told my guys I feel terrible. I don't feel good. I didn't feel like I was putting great laps together. I was just trying to keep myself hard to pass. I kind of was in a little bit of conserve mode there at the end. I just really didn't feel good all night. Jeff Walker and Kevin, Jerry, Nick and NOS Energy Drink and MPV Logistics, Indy Custom Stone, all the employees at TOPP Industries that makes it possible for me to drive this thing…I'm just so appreciative," said Grant. Fremont's Paul Weaver, a five time Fremont Speedway track champion, took advantage when early race leader JJ Henes spun on lap five in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 feature. Weaver, who came into the night uncharacteristically winless in 2025, drove to his 82nd career win at Fremont, placing him second on the track's all-time win list. Zeth Sabo, Bryan Sebetto, Jamie Miller and Dustin Stroup rounded out the top five. "We tried a newer car this year and last year I was used to running used tires and these newer compounds have thrown me for a loop. We went back to the old car and the track got slick for us tonight," said Weaver beside his Steve Brown's B&B Drain Service, Hampshire Racing Engines, M&L Excavating, Seagate Sandblasting backed #1W. In the USAC D2 Thunder Midgets, Zach Wigal lead the first 15 laps before Luke Hall took over, leading until just five laps to go when Bryce Massingill took over. Massingill held off several challenges from Wigal to claim his third win of the season. Wigal, Hall, Jakeb Boxell, and Tyler Nelson rounded out the top five. - Racing icon Bert Emick passes away
FLORIDA - The dirt track racing community lost an icon Thursday, June 26. Former head of the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series Bert Emick passed away at Halifax Hospital in Daytona, Florida after a brief illness. He was 84-years-old. Emick was surrounded by his loving wife Brigitte, whom he married in 1962, and his daughter Kristi. Bert often said his greatest accomplishment in life was taking care of "his girls." His heart was filled with gratitude for the love and respect of the racing community and he was so looking forward to attending the All Star reunion in September and he will be watching from above. Born in Columbus, Ohio, to Betty and Bert "Pop" Emick Sr., Bert became interested in auto racing through his father who enjoyed racing photography as a hobby. Bert later joined his father as a photographer by the time he was in his early 20s. Bert began his working career in the automobile service industry, eventually owning his own muffler shop in 1975. Because of his upbringing, Bert and Brigitte were regulars at races in Ohio and the surrounding states in the 1960s and 1970s. Bert and Brigitte had racing photo stands at tracks in Ohio and West Virginia in the mid-to-late 1970s. The All Star Circuit of Champions was formed in 1970 by C.H. "Bud" Miller with partners Paul Waite, William Baieri and George Yobe. Eleven races were run in 1970, mostly 100 lappers on Wednesday nights in New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio, each paying $1,000 to win. Ralph Quarterson won the first All Star point title over Bobby Allen, Lee Osborne and Lou Blaney. Due to Miller's business commitments, no All Star events were contested in 1971 or 1972. However another season began in 1973 with 11 shows scheduled with Jan Opperman winning the series title. Because of those early All Star successes and the renewed enthusiasm in "outlaw" sprint car racing generated by Ted Johnson's World of Outlaws in 1978, racing photographer friends Jerry Clum and Emick decided to start their own series in 1979. Five events under the Midwest Outlaw Super Series (MOSS) were held in Ohio and West Virginia with Dub May winning the point title. Bert got involved because of his admiration for the grass-roots, low budget traveling racers. Bert's goal was to help these type of racers out with good purses without a lot of travel. By 1980 the MOSS series was growing quickly with 22 events scheduled and the addition of a MOSS late model series. Bert sold his muffler shop that year. MOSS events paid $2,000 to win with a point fund champion taking $10,000 claimed by Bobby Allen and Jim Dunn taking the late model title. However, unbeknownst to Bert and Jerry, a track promoter who had booked MOSS events in 1980, copyrighted the name and following an unsuccessful battle in court, the duo lost the MOSS name. Bert rededicated himself to the sport and the All Star Circuit of Champions moniker was used again starting in 1981 for both the sprint car and late model series. An All Star Board of Directors was created with Bert and Brigitte at the helm. As the series grew, Bert turned over the day-to-day operations of the late model series to Bill Moore in 1982. The late models series declined in the early 1990s before being disbanded in 1993. In 1983 Ohio Sprint Speedweek was started featuring six races in six nights under the All Star Circuit of Champions banner. The brainchild of Eldora's Earl Baltes, speedweek has been imitated in several other regions. In fact, Attica Raceway Park kicks off the annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek with the Bert and Brigitte Emick Classic each year. Bert gives all the credit for the growth in purses and points funds for the All Stars over the years to his wife, Brigitte who worked tirelessly on financials, statistics and running the series souvenir trailer. She was always at Bert's side. Bert was loved and respected by drivers, car owners, track promoters and the fans. He was voted the inaugural recipient of the National Sprint Car Poll's Outstanding Contribution to the Sport Award in 1985 and has been ranked in the top five of the most influential leaders in the sport every year since the poll's inception in 1991. He was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame in 2012. A memorial will be held at a later date and a full obituary is pending.
