- Tripleheader Ohio Weekend Ahead for Great Lakes Super Sprints
Merrill, MI - Celebrating 249 years of Independence, the Ohio CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP are headed into the Holiday weekend with three races and three tracks on the schedule. Waynesfield Raceway Park kicks off the weekend on Thursday, Limaland Motorsports Park holds the middle of the weekend on Friday, with the quarter-mile at Millstream Raceway wrapping up the tripleheader. In the first visit to Waynesfield Raceway Park in May, Devon Dobie dominated from the front of the field. Collecting his first win of the 2025 season, nearly 10 years to the day since his first career win, Dobie executed precision around "The Field of Speed" alongside timely cautions to get the win over Bryan Sebetto, Kasey Jedrzejek, Max Stambaugh, and Jared Horstman. Limaland Motorsports Park has hosted four GLSS races in 2025, three of which have seen Stambaugh go to Victory Lane. Jedrzejek was the lone driver who interrupted the Stambaugh winning streak back on May 23rd. As for Millstream Speedway, a trip to the quarter-mile awaits on Saturday after the first trip to the half-mile was cancelled in May. The Great Lakes Super Sprints were the first ever sanction to race on the quarter-mile when track conditions on the half-mile resulted in the event being moved to the quarter-mile. Zane DeVault, who won both visits to Millstream last season, held off Greg Wilson, Kasey Jedrzejek, Chase Dunham, and Narin Naida for the first ever Millstream quarter-mile win. The 2025 Championship Points battle remains tight for the Great Lakes Super Sprints Tour. Max Stambaugh and Jared Horstman both collected their fifth win of the season with wins at Tri-City and Crystal respectively. Horstman holds an 18 point advantage over Stambaugh heading into the weekend with Dustin Daggett third 181 points back. In the Ohio CAT Division, Stambaugh has a 106-point advantage on Jared Horstman, but the top six in points remain one night's full-points away from the lead. With 225 points available per night, Devon Dobie sits third 114 back, Phil Gressman fourth 168 behind, defending Ohio CAT Champion, Dustin Daggett sits 169 points behind Stambaugh, and Chase Dunham is 171 points back. Gates open at 4:00 PM on Thursday at Waynesfield, 5:00 PM Friday at Limaland, and 4:00 PM Saturday at Millstream. - Horstman Matches Stambaugh, Earns Fifth Win of 2025 with GLSS
Crystal, MI - As drivers with the MacAllister CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP unloaded at Crystal Motor Speedway on Saturday night, most were preparing for a track unlike what we'd seen to this point in the 2025 season. A track that slicked off through the center, had a small cushion up top, and a technical yet fast bottom groove, put on a thrilling show for fans! Mike Keegan and Jared Horstman led the field to the green flag ahead of the 25 lap main event. On the start, Horstman instantly found the moisture at the top of the race track and had the lead by the exit of turn two. Dustin Daggett moved into the second spot before the first and only caution of the night on lap five. On the restart, Horstman continued to use the top of the race track as his preferred line around the speedway. Meanwhile, Keith Sheffer, Jr was charging from his sixth starting spot and was on the tail of Daggett before setting up a slider that wouldn't clear, forcing Sheffer to regroup after losing several car lengths on Daggett. The top of the race track was fading fast in turns three and four, forcing Horstman to find the rough bottom of the track instead of missing his mark and going over the turn. Heavy lapped traffic brought Daggett and Sheffer back within striking distance in the final five laps, but Horstman was able to drive away once again as Sheffer completed the pass on Daggett for second. Keegan and Chase Dunham rounded out the top five. "This thing was awesome," Horstman said in Victory Lane. "I've gotta thank the crew for this one without them we wouldn't be here. The top got a little treacherous down there in two, and three and four got pretty narrow so I moved it back to the bottom. We were good. I think Max mentioned it last night, this is what this series needs. It's fun racing with Max every night… To go back and forth like this, this is pretty cool." Keith Sheffer, Jr earned the Ti22 Performance Fast Qualifier Award Sheffer, Jr won Engler Machine and Tool Heat Race Number One. Mike Keegan won Beacon & Bridge Markets Heat Race Number Two. After having a 12 point deficit coming into the night, Horstman leaves Crystal with an 18 point advantage in the Great Lakes Super Sprints Tour and opens up a 118 point advantage in the MacAllister CAT (Michigan) division over Dustin Daggett. Meanwhile, Stambaugh continues to pace the Ohio CAT division by 106 points over Horstman. The next event for the Great Lakes Super Sprints will be Thursday, July 3rd at Waynesfield Raceway Park for the Let Freedom Ring Night. Racing begins at 7:00 PM. Then, Limaland Motorsports Park hosts GLSS on Friday, July 4th, and Millstream Speedway wraps up the weekend on Saturday, July 5th. - Grants gets 1st Fremont win as USAC returns
FREMONT, Ohio - Justin Grant is having a great month of June. The Ione, California driver drove to his third consecutive USAC Amsoil Sprint Car National Champion Series win Saturday, June 28 on Sandusky Bay Remodeling Night at Fremont Speedway presented by Gill Construction. Grant inherited the lead when Robert Ballou, who had a nearly three second lead, flipped on lap 13. Grant held off many challenges from defending USAC sprint car champion Logan Seavey to score his sixth wingless feature win of 2025 and his 60th career USAC sprint car victory. It's his 10th overall USAC win this year as he leads the National Silver Crown and Midget series points and sits second in the sprint car division. Should Grant be able to pull off winning all three USAC titles he would garner $500,000. It was Grant's first career win at Fremont as USAC returned to "The Track That Action Built" for the first time in 22 years. Current USAC sprint car point leader Kyle Cummins finished third with Mitchel Moles and early race leader Chase Stockon rounding out the top five. "To be honest every time I came in I told my guys I feel terrible. I don't feel good. I didn't feel like I was putting great laps together. I was just trying to keep myself hard to pass. I kind of was in a little bit of conserve mode there at the end. I just really didn't feel good all night. Jeff Walker and Kevin, Jerry, Nick and NOS Energy Drink and MPV Logistics, Indy Custom Stone, all the employees at TOPP Industries that makes it possible for me to drive this thing…I'm just so appreciative," said Grant. Fremont's Paul Weaver, a five time Fremont Speedway track champion, took advantage when early race leader JJ Henes spun on lap five in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 feature. Weaver, who came into the night uncharacteristically winless in 2025, drove to his 82nd career win at Fremont, placing him second on the track's all-time win list. Zeth Sabo, Bryan Sebetto, Jamie Miller and Dustin Stroup rounded out the top five. "We tried a newer car this year and last year I was used to running used tires and these newer compounds have thrown me for a loop. We went back to the old car and the track got slick for us tonight," said Weaver beside his Steve Brown's B&B Drain Service, Hampshire Racing Engines, M&L Excavating, Seagate Sandblasting backed #1W. In the USAC D2 Thunder Midgets, Zach Wigal lead the first 15 laps before Luke Hall took over, leading until just five laps to go when Bryce Massingill took over. Massingill held off several challenges from Wigal to claim his third win of the season. Wigal, Hall, Jakeb Boxell, and Tyler Nelson rounded out the top five. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, July 5 for Family Fun Night with the Attica Fremont Championship Series 410 and 305 sprints and dirt trucks in action. - Tripleheader Weekend on Tap for Great Lakes Super Sprints
Merrill, MI - The Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP are geared up for a tripleheader weekend as summer unofficially begins with Memorial Day Weekend. The best 360 sprint car drivers in the Midwest will converge on Limaland Motorsports Park Friday, Millstream Speedway Saturday, and Waynesfield Raceway Park on Sunday. The third appearance this season at Limaland Motorsports Park opens the door for someone to try and take down the three-time and defending GLSS Champion, Max Stambaugh. The Smith Motorsports No.71H found Victory Lane in dominating fashion in the first two visits of the season after starting on the front row and leading every lap. Dustin Daggett and Mike Keegan eyed Stambaugh in the May 2nd contest, while Jared Horstman and Chase Dunham chased Stambaugh during last Friday night's contest. Millstream Speedway is set to host the Ohio CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints on Saturday night for the first race in Findlay, Ohio this season. On the historic 4/10ths mile oval, GLSS teams will try to navigate the fast track for just the second time in history. In October of 2024, Zane DeVault launched from the pole in his Lane Racing No.44 alongside Phil Gressman. DeVault went on to hold off Kasey Jedrzejek and Van Gurley, Jr for the win. Alongside GLSS on Saturday, the Great Lakes Traditional Sprints Presented by MacAllister CAT will also be in action - this will be the first time GLTS has contested an event on the 4/10ths mile at Millstream. Ricky Lewis held off Korbyn Hayslett in August of 2024 on the inside track for the first GLTS win at Millstream. Sunday, "The Field of Speed" welcomes GLSS for the first time in 2025. Waynesfield Raceway Park hosts the first event of the 2025 season on Sunday with the high-flying GLSS alongside DIRTcar UMP Modifieds and Dirt Pro Trucks. In three visits last season, Jedrzejek outdualed Dustin Daggett for the win in July, Gressman found victory lane in August, and Nate Dussel went to GLSS Victory Lane in October. Advanced tickets for Saturday and Sunday's shows are available online at GreatLakesSuperSprints.com. Fans who can't make the trip to the track can catch the action all weekend long online at GreatLakesSprints.Tv. For more information on the Great Lakes Super Sprints, visit www.GreatLakesSprints.com. - Stambaugh Wires Run for the Rabbit at Limaland
Lima, OH - For the third time this season, Max Stambaugh went wire-to-wire with the Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP, and for the second time this year he was crowned a winner with the Ohio CAT Division at Limaland Motorsports Park. Stambaugh, who was originally set to roll off third for the 2025 Run for the Rabbit Memorial event, was able to slide to the front row after a penalty was handed out to the original pole. Stambaugh led the field to green alongside two-time Run for the Rabbit and GLSS Champion, Jared Horstman. The only two drivers to win so far this season were the class of the field once again. With heavy storms breathing down the neck of fans and drivers, Stambaugh quickly reached lapped traffic with well over a straightaway lead on Horstman, who was forced to deal with a pesky Devon Dobie and Chase Dunham early for the second spot. Once Horstman shook Dunham and Dobie he was able to chase down Stambaugh in lapped traffic. With five laps to go, no cars separated the pair at the front. Horstman was able to draw within two car lengths of Stambaugh in the final two laps, but couldn't get close enough to make a move on Stambaugh. The Smith Motorsports No.71H went on to collect the win over Hortstman Dunham, Dobie, and Dustin Daggett. The win, Stambaugh's third of the season, is the 21st of his career and keeps him third on the all-time GLSS wins list. Stambaugh now takes a 55-point advantage in the Ohio CAT Division Championship lead, and a slim two-point advantage over Horstman for the GLSS Tour Championship lead. Chase Dunham earned the Ti22 Performance Fast Qualifier Award. Chase Dunham won Engler Machine & Tool Heat Race Number 1. Max Stambaugh won Howard-Johnson of Lima Heat Race Number 2. Kobe Allison won Miami Paint Heat Race Number 3. Luke Griffith was the Operating Engineers 324 Hard Charger advancing eight positions from 15th to 7th. The next event for the Great Lakes Super Sprints is back at Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday, May 23rd, before heading to Millstream Speedway on Saturday, May 24th, and Waynesfield Raceway Park on Sunday, May 25th. - I-96 Speedway Next for GLSS; Doubleheader weekend for GLTS Opener
Lake Odessa, MI - The Michigan CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP (GLSS) are back in Michigan Friday night, returning to I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, MI for a Breast Cancer Awareness/Mother's Day Weekend that also features the Great Lakes Traditional Sprints Presented by MacAllister CAT as they open the 2025 season with a doubleheader that also features a stop in Quincy, MI at Butler Motor Speedway. The fourth race for GLSS in as many weeks takes teams back to one of the fastest tracks on the circuit for the second time this season. In the first visit on April 25th, Scotty Thiel set fast time with a 13.813 as one of the later cars to take time. Mike Keegan, Jared Horstman, and Max Stambaugh grabbed heat race wins before Stambaugh went on to lead flag-to-flag for his first win of the season. Stambaugh doubled up his 2025 win total by grabbing another Friday night win at Limaland Motorsports Park on May 2nd. Thanks to his back-to-back wins, Max Stambaugh now holds a slim two-point advantage in the GLSS Tour Points standings over Jared Horstman and Dustin Daggett. However, in the Michigan CAT Division, a DNF to open the season keeps Hortsman out front with a 43 point advantage over Daggett and Stambaugh. Horstman was on the move in the last race at I-96, taking second at the line after starting fifth. He was also credited as the Hard Charger at Limaland Motorsports Park. The evening at I-96 will also feature the start of the 2025 season for GLTS. Steve Irwin is expected to return after another championship-winning season with GLTS in 2024. The Fenton, MI native grabbed one win last year in the season opener at Butler Motor Speedway before finishing in the top 10 in the rest of his starts, and top five in all but one. Brian Ruhlman and Max Frank, two of the historic thorns in Irwin's side, are also expected to unload their non-wing 410s on Friday night. Last season, Max Frank was the one to beat with three feature wins, one of just two drivers to win multiple times with GLTS. Frank found victory lane at Tri City Motor Speedway and Silver Bullet Speedway twice. Ricky Lewis was the other driver who took multiple trips to GLTS victory lane with a win at Waynesfield Raceway Park and Millstream Speedway. The weekend begins on Friday, May 9th at I-96 Speedway for both GLSS & GLTS. Advanced tickets are available at GreatLakesSprints.com. Gates open at 5:00 PM with racing set to begin at 8:00 PM. Fans who can't make the trip Friday night can catch all the action live at GreatLakesSprints.Tv. Saturday, the Great Lakes Traditional Sprints continue to Butler Motor Speedway alongside Winged 410 Sprint Cars and Compacts. Gates open at 4:00 PM with racing set to begin at 7:30 PM.
- FAST, BOSS & USAC Midwest Midgets at Millstream are soggy
Yes, it sounds crazy, but this Saturday's event at Millstream Speedway will have to wait! The Findlay, Ohio area has seen over 4 inches of rainfall in the last week. As of yesterday morning, there were still flood warnings issued for the local area.
