- Destination Change: All Star/IRA visit to Route 66 canceled; Wayne County Speedway to host All Stars May 14
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (April 27, 2022) - With uncertainties surrounding the opening of the Dirt Oval at Route 66 in Joliet, Illinois, the previously scheduled co-sanctioned event featuring the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 and the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series set for Saturday, May 14, has officially been canceled. Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, will now host the ASCoC on Saturday, May 14. The Series will head southeast to Orrville following Friday's Mace Thomas Classic at I-96 Speedway worth $8,500-to-win. Wayne County Speedway will award $6,000-to-win. Including the added date, Wayne County Speedway, dubbed "Orrville's Historic Oval," will now host the traveling All Stars on two occasions in 2022, the second being night four of Ohio Sprint Speedweek set for Monday, June 13. Promoter Jason Flory is certainly no stranger to taking on the All Star Circuit of Champions on short notice. In 2019, he and his staff accepted an Ohio Sprint Speedweek date on the day of the event, acting as a backup plan when another facility canceled due to weather. In addition, should the All Star Circuit of Champions event at Waynesfield Raceway Park, set for this Sunday, May 1, be subject to cancellation due to weather, the program will be moved to Sunday, May 15. The revamped Michigan/Ohio weekend featuring I-96 Speedway and Wayne County Speedway will spark a busy May stretch for the All Stars beginning with an IRA Outlaw Sprint Series co-sanctioned three-pack through the Badger State on Friday through Sunday, May 20-22 (Wilmot Raceway, Plymouth Dirt Track and Angell Park Speedway). May action will continue with a return trip to Pennsylvania Posse Country on Friday through Sunday, May 27-29, igniting with the $10,000-to-win Randy Wolfe Tribute Race at Williams Grove Speedway on May 27. The month will conclude with the two-day Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway featuring a $10,000-to-win preliminary and a $29,000-to-win finale on Saturday and Sunday, May 28-29. Those seeking additional information pertaining to the May 13-14 double at I-96 and Wayne County, such as gate times and ticket prices, can do so by visiting each facility online at www.i96speedway.com and www.waynecountyspeedway.com, respectively. - Anthony Macri outduels Logan Wagner in epic battle for Keith Kauffman Classic crown
PORT ROYAL, Pa. (April 23, 2022) - The 2022 Keith Kauffman Classic at Port Royal Speedway will go down as a race for the ages, as "Speed Palace" rivals Anthony Macri and Logan Wagner waged an all-out war on Saturday night for the $10,000 crown, exchanging challenge after challenge and slider after slider until a final lap block by Macri sealed his winning fate, ultimately securing his second Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory in three tries, now with five on his career. Lining up sixth on the feature grid by way of dash result, Macri was in a hurry right from the start, advancing his way through the running order and poking his nose into a podium position by lap nine. Meanwhile, feature polesitter and Harrisonville native, Logan Wagner, was the man in charge, setting a quick pace at the front of the field with an empty track and clean air to his advantage. The pace did not hold for long, as lapped traffic would enter the picture on lap seven creating a multi-car roadblock for the four-time track champion. Taking second from Parker Price-Miller on lap 11, Macri's aim quickly switched to Wagner, using Port Royal's extreme outer edge to rapidly reel in the Zemco Speed Equipment No. 1. By lap 17, Macri was all over Wagner for the race lead, exchanging slidejobs the very next circuit before powering around Wagner coming off of four on lap 19. Refusing to settle for second, Wagner did everything he could to power back around the "Concrete Kid," exchanging sliders yet again on lap 24 and 25 before a caution snapped the excitement on lap 26. Without saying, the war was far from over. The ensuing restart saw the pair pick up right where they left off with Wagner continuing to throw everything he could at Macri. Another slider exchange on lap 29 ultimately resulted in near contact between the two, but Macri persevered. A final lap block by Macri would seal his trip to victory lane, still with Logan Wagner in tow followed by Lance Dewease, Ryan Smith, and Mike Wagner. "After our incident, Logan and I came to the conclusion that we weren't going to give each other an inch, and with starting sixth, I knew that I had to make something happen on the start. I really didn't do the best job at making that happen...I started to drive aggressively and I think I maybe got too aggressive too soon. The car was a handful in those last few laps and I just tried to get as wide as I could," Dillsburg's Anthony Macri said in victory lane, driver of the J&S Classics/C&D Rigging No. 39M. "I gotta give Logan (Wagner) credit...he could have drove through me when I went to the bottom to block but he didn't. So I thank him for that. These guys have been giving me an awesome car all year long and it's been showing. "How about these fans...this was an unreal race," Logan Wagner said following his runner-up finish. "Anthony (Macri) is good and he drove me clean. He shut the door on me getting into one but I shut the door on him in the last Keith Kauffman Classic...that's just the way it goes. The best driver won here tonight." UP NEXT: The Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will continue their 2022 campaign with a Pennsylvania and Ohio mixer on Friday through Sunday, April 29 through May 1, visiting Lernerville Speedway, Sharon Speedway, and Waynesfield Raceway Park in consecutive fashion. All three events will award $6,000 top prizes, simultaneously igniting a busy May slate comprised of nine events throughout Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. In response to the concern for limited right rear tire supply resulting in the potential for a very low car count, Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 and Bedford Speedway officials have made the mutual decision to postpone the Bedford Speedway event scheduled for Thursday, April 28, until a date later in the year that has yet to be determined. An announcement will be made when it becomes available. - Brent Marks unchallenged for Tommy Classic All Star victory at Williams Grove Speedway
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (April 22, 2022) - Brent Marks and Murray-Marks Motorsports made it look easy on Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway, not only leading every lap of the annual Tommy Hinnershitz Classic for a $6,000 payday, but securing his first Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory of the 2022 season in the process, the fifth of his open wheel career and a first at famed half mile. Relatively uncontested during the 30-lap program, Marks' only real challenges were in the form of an early segment of heavy lapped traffic, as well as a trio of single-file restarts, surviving all of the above while keeping well-known speedster and National Sprint Car Hall of Famer, Lance Dewease, in his rearview mirror. A fast closing Danny Dietrich, who advanced four spots, finished third on Friday night, followed by defending All Star Circuit of Champions champion, Tyler Courtney, and Bloomsburg Fair Raceway winner, Anthony Macri. "We had a really good car all night. I could pretty much move around to wherever I wanted to, especially down in one and two where I could run the top and the bottom," Brent Marks expressed, ace of the M&M Painting and Construction/BAPS Auto Paint and Supply/No. 19 sprint car. "I started to feel the top go away when I was racing in traffic, and after that last restart, I felt like I needed to start running the bottom. One thing about Lance, I know where he's going to be around this place. To be able to beat a guy who is so strong here is pretty special. "Just hats off to this whole team," Marks continued. "We had a rough last few days with losing a race at Bridgeport due to a parts failure, and fighting gremlins all night last night at Bloomsburg...the guys just refuse to give up and continue to give me a great car. And here we are tonight." "Brent was definitely the class of the field tonight," Lance Dewease said of Brent Marks. "We weren't very good there and I tried a lot of different lines. We just decided to duck in behind him and hope to get lucky in traffic. He's becoming a really good racer and for sure one of the fastest in the country." UP NEXT: The Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will conclude their first Central Pennsylvania sweep of the 2022 season with a visit to the "Speed Palace" at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday, April 23. The Keith Kauffman Classic, honoring National Sprint Car Hall of Famer and 13-time Port Royal Speedway track champion, Keith Kauffman, will be the main attraction headlined with a $10,000-to-win main event - the first of six All Star blockbusters at the Juniata County Fairgrounds this season including the historic Tuscarora 50 in September. (April 21, 2022) - For the first time in the facility's history, Bloomsburg Fair Raceway in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, hosted 410ci sprint car competition, welcoming the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 to sanction the historic event, simultaneously initiating another edition of the Pennsylvania Posse and All Star rivalry. Defending his home state proudly, Dillsburg, Pennsylvania's Anthony Macri earned top honors in the inaugural event, scoring a $6,000 payday in the process while padding his All Star stat sheet that now includes four Series victories, earning his first at Port Royal Speedway in 2020. Impressive enough, Macri has been victorious in his last four sprint car starts, aiming to keep that streak alive in Friday's Tommy Hinnershitz Classic at Williams Grove Speedway. Although top dog at the end of the 30-lap program, Macri had his work cut out for him. In fact, a jumped start during the initial green forced Macri to go back a row, commencing the All Star main event from the third position rather than the pole where he was scheduled to start. Despite the setback, Macri eventually rebounded, getting by race leader and All Star full-timer, Bill Balog, with a bold move through traffic on lap 17. Macri pulled even will Balog at the exit of turn two, and by the time the duo drag-raced off of four, Macri was the one to lead the pair back to the flagstand. "The pressure keeps adding up," Macri said of his consecutive victories, ultimately attempting a weekend sweep. "I guess we have a huge target on our back now. This is pretty remarkable. We've won four in a row at Port Royal before, but to win four in a row at four different tracks is pretty incredible. My guys work their butts off and I couldn't be more proud of them. All I can do is keep trying my best when I'm behind the wheel." Scott Bogucki, who inherited the lead when Macri was sent back a row, led the first nine circuits before surrendering his power to Balog. Unfortunately for Bogucki, in his attempt to reclaim the lead from Balog, he made contact with the turn one wall and rolled to a stop; he was OK. Balog held on to finish second at Bloomsburg Fair Raceway, followed by Justin Peck, Tyler Courtney, and Zeb Wise. UP NEXT: The Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will continue their weekend sweep through Pennsylvania Posse Country with Williams Grove Speedway's annual Tommy Hinnershitz Classic on Friday, April 22. The $6,000-to-win program will be flanked by Port Royal Speedway's $10,000-to-win Keith Kauffman Classic on Saturday, April 23. - Pennsylvania triple on deck for Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (April 20, 2022) - Ready to battle head-to-head with the notorious Pennsylvania Posse, the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will continue their 2022 campaign with a three-race slate through the heart of the Keystone State, activating the extended weekend with a stop at Bloomsburg Fair Raceway in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, on Thursday evening, April 21. An evening for the history books, the visit to Bloomsburg will not only be a first for the All Star Circuit of Champions, but a first for winged 410 sprint cars in general, as the facility has yet to host the state's premier dirt division. The one-night program will award a $6,000 payday, as well as additional incentives including a $200 bonus for each heat race victor courtesy of Packer's Concessions. The All Star Circuit of Champions will return to Bloomsburg Fair Raceway in late August. Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, will welcome the traveling All Stars on Friday, April 22; the first of four appearances at the famed half-mile in 2022. The $6,000-to-win Tommy Hinnershitz Classic is on Friday's agenda, honoring the winner of Williams Grove Speedway's first-ever race held on May 21, 1939. At the time of his death, the 87-year-old Hinnershitz was ranked second behind Steve Kinser on the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame's Top Sprint Car Drivers of All Time list. The "Speed Palace" at Port Royal Speedway will be the final stop for the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 during the coming weekend, hosting "America's Series" on Saturday, April 23. The Keith Kauffman Classic, honoring National Sprint Car Hall of Famer and 13-time Port Royal Speedway track champion, Keith Kauffman, will be the main attraction headlined with a $10,000-to-win main event; the first of six All Star blockbusters at the Juniata County Fairgrounds this season including the historic Tuscarora 50. "Sunshine" Tyler Courtney and Clauson Marshall Racing will lead the All Star charge into Central Pennsylvania, on top of the current Series driver standings with a perfect 300-point score. Courtney, who swept the All Star Circuit of Champions' points season opener at Attica Raceway Park one weekend ago, holds a 26-point cushion in the title chase over a three-way tie between Bill Balog, Cap Henry, and Hunter Schuerenberg. Parker Price-Miller will enter the weekend fifth in the driver standings, followed by Cory Eliason, Zeb Wise, Justin Peck, Scott Bogucki, and Kevin Thomas Jr. WEEKEND AGENDA: Thursday, April 21 Bloomsburg Fair Raceway Pit Gates: 4:00 p.m. Driver's Meeting: 5:45 p.m. Hot Laps: 6:15 p.m. www.racing.bloomsburgfair.com Friday, April 22 Williams Grove Speedway Pit Gates: 5:00 p.m. Driver's Meeting: 6:20 p.m. Hot Laps: 7:00 p.m. www.williamsgrove.com Saturday, April 23 Port Royal Speedway Pit Gates: 3:00 p.m. Driver's Meeting: 4:40 p.m. Hot Laps: 5:15 p.m. www.portroyalspeedway.com For those who can not witness the All Star Circuit of Champions live and in person, FloRacing.com, the official media partner and broadcast provider of the All Stars, has you covered. - Tyler Courtney leads every lap of Attica Spring Nationals finale to secure weekend sweep
ATTICA, Ohio (April 16, 2022) - The lights were on, but it was all "Sunshine" this weekend at the home of "Ohio's Finest Racing," as Tyler Courtney, ace of the Clauson Marshall Racing/NOS Energy Drink No. 7BC, earned his second victory in as many days at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, officially sweeping the Core & Main Spring Nationals with another $6,000 triumph on Saturday evening, April 16. Blasting ahead from the outside-pole position, Sunshine led all 30 circuits of the weekend finale, surviving a pair of red flag stoppages, as well as numerous waves of heavy traffic, to secure the 11th Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory of his young career. Impressive enough, Courtney's final margin of victory reached nearly four seconds, outrunning fellow All Star Circuit of Champions competitor and Angola, Indiana, native, Zeb Wise, to the final checkers, followed by Ohio hot shot, Cole Duncan, Rudeen Racing's Cory Eliason, and "Hunter Percent" Hunter Schuerenberg. "It was kinda tricky tonight. The wind changed directions on us a few times and it made it hard to not want to blow off the top of the race track. Determining where the lap cars were going to go made it tricky, too," Courtney said in victory lane, who is chasing a second consecutive All Star title in 2022. "Jake and all the boys have been working their tails off all winter. To start our All Star title defense with two wins, and putting this NOS Energy Drink car where it belongs, is a really good feeling. Hopefully this is momentum we can carry into the summer." Wise, commencing his third season as an All Star full-timer, started from the pole position for the 30-lap contest, and although Courtney was able to snag the point at the drop of the green, the former Rayce Rudeen Foundation Race champion hung tough and did all that he could to keep the Clauson Marshall Racing entry within reach. "I feel like the '7' was better than us, especially through one and two," Wise explained. "He could roll the top a lot better than I could. At times, it was hard to see getting into one so I just took my time getting through lapped traffic. When Tyler would get by a lapped car, the lapped car would switch lanes because they knew that was the faster way, so it made it tricky to get by them. Everyone on this car belongs back here on the podium. This feels really good after some disappointment last night." UP NEXT: The Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will continue their 2022 campaign with a three-race swing through Central Pennsylvania on Thursday through Saturday, April 21-23. Series regulars and the infamous Pennsylvania Posse will collide in visits to Bloomsburg Fair Raceway, Williams Grove Speedway, and Port Royal Speedway in respective fashion headlined with Port Royal's annual Keith Kauffman Classic awarding $10,000-to-win. The visits to Bloomsburg and Williams Grove will award $6,000 each. - Satterlee wins at Port Royal
On Sunday night, Gregg Satterlee picked up a $10,000 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory Sunday on a chilly evening at the Port Royal Speedway for the River Valley 40. Satterlee took advantage of ...
- Satterlee Back to Lucas Oil Victory Lane at Port Royal
Port Royal, PA (April 10, 2022) - Gregg Satterlee inherited the lead in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned River Valley 40 at Port Royal Speedway on Sunday evening when the top two running cars of Kyle Larson and Earl Pearson Jr. both ran into difficulty on the 25th lap of the race. Satterlee dominated the remainder of the race to get his third career win in the series. Brandon Sheppard finished in second with Tim McCreadie rounding out the podium in third. Jimmy Owens was fourth with Tyler Erb, the previous night's winner at Hagerstown finishing fifth. Larson and Pearson ran in the top two spots at the drop of the green with Larson grabbing the early lead. The duo put on a show in the race for the lead as they started to encounter lapped traffic by the 14th circuit. That didn't matter as Larson and Pearson continued to race hard for the top spot slicing and dicing through lapped cars. The top two were starting to be reeled in by Sheppard and Satterlee as a four-car battle for the lead was ensuing. Suddenly heading off turn four after some close quarters racing, Larson and Pearson made contact resulting in Larson spinning in front of the field and a broken steering component on Pearson's car; drawing a caution and ending Pearson's night. Satterlee had closed on the race leaders before the caution but inherited the top spot during the single caution of the event. In the final 15 laps of the race Satterlee pulled away from the field for a 3.8 second advantage at the finish line over Sheppard and McCreadie to score his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win since 2018. The 37-year-old Pennsylvania native became the eighth different winner this season with the series. "Honestly from the center of turn three until you get to turn four you can't see anything, so I don't know happened down there. I could see one of them spinning, but luckily Larson was far enough around the corner because I wouldn't have seen him. I guess this is our lucky day. I thought with that deal in the heat race I had ruined our night. Everything fell our way tonight. I have always wanted a Lucas Oil win here; this is definitely our favorite track to race at and it's always nice to win here in front of these fans." "The track was really in good shape. We could race from the inside to the outside wall and every inch in between. Hats off to Steve O'Neal, the promoter. We love coming here to Port Royal, they put a lot of effort into this place and there is no other race track around like this one." Sheppard, four-time Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series winner this season, came home in second to Satterlee. "It was a good track and a good race going on there for a while. I was hanging on as good as I could, I don't know if I could have passed any of those guys. It was unfortunate was happened to those guys (Larson and Pearson). Gregg got out there and he had a really good run. We are working really hard to get this thing up front and it's paying off. We are very excited for the rest of the year." McCreadie, who ran second to Erb at Hagerstown on Saturday night came back with another podium finish on Sunday evening at Port Royal. "Hats off to my guys, they work so hard to try and get me feeling competitive again. We took big steps this weekend. I hate it for Earl and Kyle they were up front in Longhorn cars, and they were doing really well. We were there, the longer we ran the better we got. I had a little issue running off of four and I couldn't run the outside like I wanted to." The winner's Rocket Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Satterlee Motorsports, Keyser Manufacturing, and Integra Shocks. Completing the top ten were Ashton Winger, Ross Robinson, Colton Flinner, Matt Cosner, and Max Blair.
