  Moran Goes Back-to-Back in Melvin L. Joseph Memorial at Georgetown

  GEORGETOWN, DE (April 24, 2026) - Devin Moran captured the Melvin L. Joseph Memorial for the second consecutive year Friday night at Georgetown Speedway, taking home the $21,049 top prize in the feature event honoring the track's founder. The defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion started fifth and charged to the lead on lap seven, passing Hudson O'Neal before pacing the remainder of the 49-lap event for his fifth Series win of the 2026 season. O'Neal finished second, while ninth-starting Max Blair rounded out the Big River Steel podium in third. Brandon Sheppard finished fourth, and Josh Rice impressed in his Georgetown debut, advancing from 16th to complete the top five. O'Neal grabbed the early lead with Ricky Thornton Jr. in pursuit. After leading the first six laps, O'Neal was overtaken by Moran, who made a decisive move to the front on lap seven. Thornton's night came to an abrupt end shortly after when a broken driveshaft forced him to retire to the infield. Following the restart, Moran steadily extended his advantage over O'Neal and Blair. He ultimately crossed the finish line 0.570 seconds ahead of O'Neal, extending his championship points lead to 35 as the Series heads to Hagerstown Speedway on Sunday after Saturday's event at BAPS Motor Speedway was canceled due to weather. Moran's victory marked the 29th of his Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series career, capping off a challenging night filled with adversity. "Today was pretty much what racing is like sometimes—we went from low to high, then back to low again," said the Dresden, Ohio native. "We couldn't hot lap, had to pull out a backup car, set fast time, and even had an oil line come off that caused a fire under the hood. To come back from all that and win is pretty special." "I want to thank Garrett Alberson—he offered us one of his cars if we needed it—and the Rocket 1 team for helping us throughout the night. It was a tough one, but we kept fighting." "I wasn't sure how good the top would be. This is a brand-new car and motor, but we overcame a lot tonight. I was excited to go to BAPS tomorrow, but unfortunately that's canceled. We'll be ready for Hagerstown." O'Neal, who entered the race as the nation's winningest dirt late model driver with 11 victories, came up just short of his fourth Series win of the year. "He showed us a different part of the racetrack," O'Neal said of Moran. "I thought the top would dominate early, but by the time I realized he was making the bottom work, he was already by me. He did a great job, and his car was really good. We just need to be a little better to start the race." Blair's third-place finish moved him up to fourth in the championship standings. "I thought I had a shot—I had just passed Garrett (Alberson), but we didn't get that lap in," Blair said. "I wish we had one more lap so I could've lined up in the second row, but it all worked out. We weren't great in the heat race, but we improved for the feature."   Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Event at BAPS Rained Out; Hagerstown Speedway Event Still On

  YORK HAVEN, PA (April 24, 2026) - Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing officials, in conjunction with BAPS Motor Speedway, have announced that the event scheduled for Saturday, April 25 has been canceled due to the unfavorable weather forecast. The event will not be rescheduled during the 2026 season. Fans and teams can look ahead, however, as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is set to return to BAPS Motor Speedway in 2027. "Based on the current forecast and the high likelihood of continued rain throughout the day, we felt it was in the best interest of teams and fans to make this decision early," said track officials. "We look forward to hosting the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2027." Tickets that have been purchased online through MyRacePass will be refunded. Anyone that has purchased a suite will have the option to request a refund or hold it for 2027 season. The series will continue its weekend schedule, with the event at Hagerstown Speedway on Sunday proceeding as planned.   Tommy Classic For 410 Sprints Kicks Off Diamond Series At Grove Friday

  Mechanicsburg - Honoring the first winner ever at Williams Grove Speedway, the Tommy Hinnershitz Classic for Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars is on tap this Friday night, April 17. The Tommy Classic will serve to kickoff the 2026 Hoosier Diamond Series at Williams Grove and it will be another race in the overall PA Posse 410 Sprint Series. The first big event of the season for the sprints at Williams Grove Speedway, the Tommy Classic will pay the 410 sprint drivers $8,000 to win the 30-lap main event on Friday night. Time trials will be used to set lineups for the 410 sprint cars with the driver who sets quick time earning the $300 Fast Tees Fast Time Award. Action gets underway at 7:30 pm. Anthony Macri is the defending Tommy Classic champion. No driver has won more Tommy Classics since the race began in 2007 than Lance Dewease. The Fayetteville driver owns three career victories in the event. Extreme Stocks are also on the April 17 racing program, competing under BAPS Motor Speedway rules. All Drivers who compete in both the April 17 Williams Grove program and in the April 18 BAPS Extreme Stock program will be eligible for one of three randomly drawn $100 bonus prizes. Adult general admission for April 17 is $30 with youth ages 13 - 20 admitted for just $10. Kids ages 12 and under are always FREE at Williams Grove Speedway. Williams Grove Speedway will host the Spring Sprint Special on April 24 when the oval spins off a program of 410 sprints, wingless super sportsman and the PASS IMCA 305 sprints.   Limited Late Models ready to take on Big Diamond Speedway on JRL Emergency Services Night, May 8

  (Minersville, Pa. 3-20-26) There's no question that the weekly divisions that run every Friday evening at Big Diamond Speedway make for an outstanding program. The BQ Concrete 358 Modifieds, USS Achey Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman, Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Roadrunners and the Big Creek Concrete Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman all provide fans with thrilling close racing week in and week out. But there is diversity as well when it comes to the 3/8-mile Schuylkill County dirt oval when you add in the occasional touring groups who periodically roll into town and when they do it elevates an already good show with even more excitement. Friday, May 8, for JRL Emergency Services Night will be one of those dates on this year's schedule for sure as it marks the return of the Limited Late Models to Big Diamond Speedway. "We ran there about three years ago and the turn-outs where okay and there were some factors on that, one being the weather with some thunder storms in the area which may have deterred some people from coming and another issue was a few other tracks running at the same time," said Jennifer Marie Lesher, who races with the Limited Late Models and worked closely with track owner/promoter Jake Smulley to bring back the class this season. "This time we've reached out to the majority of everyone and from what I gathered we feel we'll have a strong field of cars for this show in May." With $1500-to-win the feature being offered Lesher senses that along with other enticements that she is working on for that night it will have a good influence on drawing cars. "It's a good purse and we're also looking at adding some things like a Hard Charger award and some other things to help out," she added. Teams will be coming in from regional tracks such as BAPS Motor Speedway, Clinton County Speedway and Selinsgrove Speedway. The last time the Limited Late Models ran here was in 2022. Gregg Satterlee took the win over Tyler Hershey and the year prior it was Travis Mease who scored the victory ahead of Dylan Stake. "I've been going to Big Diamond since I was young, and I do love that track. Years ago, my husband Travis Mease raced there and he's won there too," said Lesher. The Limited Late Models won't be the only group visiting that night as the Xcel 600cc Modifieds will fill out a well-rounded race card that will include the BQ Concrete 358 Modifieds and Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Roadrunners. Lesher also noted the her along with several others are making plans to attend the pre-season Open Practice session slated for Sunday, March 29 from noon to 4:00 pm in preparation for their May 8 show. Opening Day, Friday, April 3, is right around the corner. The "Thaw Brawl" will feature all four regular track classes in action which include the 358 Modifieds, 602 Crate Sportsman, Roadrunners and Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman.
