- Hartmann closes book on 2024 with Mississippi Thunder, Plymouth IRA twin bill
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) October 2, 2024 - After entering 30 racing events contested on 19 tracks in six states over five months, the end of the long and winding 2024 410 Sprint Car racing road drew nigh for Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing Team with one final weekend of Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series action at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis. on Friday, Sept. 27 and the seventh annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships at The Plymouth, Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 28. In the IRA's first appearance at the third-mile high-banked clay oval nestled on the shores of the Mississippi River since 2012, Hartmann opened the night by qualifying 14th overall in the 27-car field with a lap of 12.131 seconds. The third-year 410 Sprint Car competitor then racked up a sixth-place finish after starting fifth in the second eight-lap IRA heat race. The Plymouth, Wis. driver started the 30-lap A-main from the 17th starting position and stayed consistent throughout on the way to a 15th place showing in a race won by Australian Scott Bogucki. One night later, Hartmann and crew hauled back home for the 2024 IRA season finale at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, Sept. 28. The 2020 Midwest Sprint Car Association - Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Rookie of the Year Award winner turned in the 19th fastest qualifying lap in the 33-car field with a time of 12.150 seconds. Hartmann then put together an inspired effort in the third eight-lap IRA heat race blasting past Will Armitage, Blake Nimee and Kelby Watt with a nifty low move in turns two and fourth of the opening lap to vault his way into second. The fifth-year Sprint Car campaigner held on to place second in the heat race and earn the right to start 14th in the 30-lap 2024 season-ending IRA main event. Hartmann put together a solid run in the final IRA A-main of the 2024 campaign to come home 16th in a race won by Scotty Thiel. "Our last weekend of the 2024 season was filled with a lot of problems but this team never gave up throughout the entire season," Hartmann said. In 33 410 Sprint Car events during the 2024 season, Hartmann tallied one top-five, six top-10 and 12 top-15 A-main showings, while recording one dash victory in seven dash appearances and winning one B-main. Following a 10th-place finish in 2022 and a ninth-place run in 2023, the third-year 410 Sprint Car competitor tallied a career-best seventh-place performance in the final 2024 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series point standings. "The 2024 season was one to remember," Hartmann said. "We've built something special to me way beyond racing. From race days to teaching Ian Schultz how to golf, and then him kicking my butt on go-karts, there were a lot of good times. Also, Eric Bergschultz got to learn more in-depth about the car throughout the 2024 season. "I truly have one amazing team," he said. "Mom [Kristine Hartmann] and Andy [Shufflebotham] have been nothing short of amazing in seeing the vision I have for this team and where we can go and how to do it. Karlee [Hartmann] is always there to support me or give me grief when I need a reality check. They say when you're having fun, time goes by quickly. Well, the 2024 race season was the quickest season I've experienced. I'm super excited for what 2025 will bring." - Arenz draws curtain on 2024 IRA campaign in fleet fashion
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) October 2, 2024 - Travis Arenz and the Travis Arenz Motorsports crew put a lid on a 2024 season complicated with motor and chassis issues by packaging together a fourth consecutive top-five performance with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series at the seventh annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 28. Early on in the night, Arenz flexed his muscle at his home track by qualifying fifth overall in the 33-car IRA field with a lap of 11.854 seconds. After starting third in the first eight-lap IRA heat race, the 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion turned in a stellar effort to earn his fourth heat race win of the 2024 campaign. Thanks to his strong qualifying and heat race runs, Arenz advanced to the first IRA four-lap dash starting second and finishing third to gain the fifth starting spot in the 30-lap main event. The 37-time Plymouth Dirt Track Racing A-main winner in four different divisions was embroiled in a heated duel at the front of the field throughout the event. After racing in the top five during the entire 30 laps, Arenz capped off the 2024 season with a fourth-place A-main showing in a race won by Scotty Thiel. The fourth-place run marked Arenz's fourth consecutive top-five main event finish. "Getting back in this car was like riding a bike," Arenz said. "Once I figured out what that chassis liked when it was a 360 car, it felt really good most of the night. We had a right rear tire leaking during the feature, which made the car a little more of a handful. I had to be cautious about where I ran." In 19 410 Sprint Car events during the 2024 campaign, Arenz collected eight top-five A-main showings, 13 top-10 main event finishes and 14 top-15 A-main runs to go along with four heat race victories, 11 dash appearances, one dash victory and one fast qualifier award. Despite missing nine IRA events primarily due to motor issues, Arenz posted an 11th-place finish in the final 2024 IRA point standings. "The one word to describe this season would be 'frustrating.' Arenz said. "A lot of things this year didn't go as planned. On a positive note, I learned a lot this season and I was able to get more comfortable. Missing a handful of weeks due to the engine failure we experienced is not something I wanted to happen. That's racing though. It was out of our control. "As for the 2025 season, I haven't thought about it yet," he said. "We'll see." The Travis Arenz 25T Motorsports Team continues to seek crew members to assist the team. Those interested can send a direct message to Travis through the Travis Arenz Motorsports Facebook page. "I am still looking for another set of crew hands to help out," Arenz said. "Those interested can reach out to me for more info." - Post closes 2024 campaign with truncated Plymouth run
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) October 1, 2024 - The 2024 season was one filled with some major highs and several disappointing lows in Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing - Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car action with the curtain closing event falling into the latter category for Randy Post and the Randy Post Racing Team during the seventh annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships held Saturday, Sept. 28 at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. With 25 PDTR-MSA Sprint Cars signed in for the final program of the 2024 campaign, Post qualified 19th overall with a lap of 13.246 seconds. The third-year Sprint Car racer started fifth and came home sixth in the third eight-lap PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car heat race before rolling off 20th in the 24-car A-main field. However, the main event was short-lived for Post as an incident in turn two on lap 4 ended his night and season with substantial damage to his No. 54 machine. The Oostburg, Wis. driver was the first driver to retire from the race and scored with a 24th place finish. "We made a lot of changes to our car for this weekend," Post said. "Kristian Wagner and Travis Arenz have been on my case for quite some time about trying some different things to learn what works for me. In qualifying, I couldn't see at all in turns 3 and 4 due to the sun. There were cars in front of me, so I didn't get a true feel of how it handled because I was pretty much coasting to make sure I didn't hit anyone. "In the heat race, we made even more changes," he said. "Once we got a few laps into the heat race, I felt really comfortable and felt like I was gaining ground on the people in front of me. Our night ended early in the A-main when a car spun in front of us, hit the gas instead of the brake and drove into us. We broke a lot of things in that small hit." Post ended the 2024 season with a 22nd place finish in the final PDTR 360 Sprint Car point standings after competing in nine of the 13 events held at The Plymouth Dirt Track during the 2024 season. Overall, Post recorded one top-10 and two top-15 A-main showings, along with one heat race victory in 11 MSA events to end up 20th in the final 2024 MSA point standings. "This was the most challenging but rewarding year we've had," Post said. "I can't thank my crew guys and partners enough for sticking with us in the 2024 season as we have mostly returning partners. At this point, we are looking forward to doing it again in 2025." Sponsorship partners and supporters of Randy Post and the 2024 Randy Post Racing Team include Luedtke Electric, Sunset Auto, Akright Auto, Oostburg Automotive and Progress Manufacturing Inc. The fifth-year Sprint Car driver opened the final event of the 2024 season by qualifying second overall in the 25-car field with a lap of 12.663 seconds around the venerable third-mile clay oval. The West Bend, Wis. competitor started and finished third in the second PDTR-Midwest Sprint Car Association eight-lap heat race to earn the seventh starting spot in the 25-lap main event. Pokorski, who earned the 2023 PDTR and MSA Most Improved Driver Award, moved up to fourth on lap 9 and later fell to sixth following a pair of caution flags on lap 12 and 13. Over the final 10 laps, Pokorski worked primarily the high groove of the smooth, slick and multi-groove racing surface to move back into fourth place on lap 18. He held strong in the final seven laps to register a fourth place finish in a race won by 2024 PDTR and MSA champion Ben Schmidt. After collecting his sixth top five A-main showing of the 2024 season, Pokorski nailed down the runner-up spot in the final PDTR 360 Sprint Car point standings, 50 points behind Ben Schmidt. - Arenz deposits runner-up showing in Wilmot 410 Sprint Car special event
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 25, 2024 - Travis Arenz has seen plenty of ups and downs while planted firmly in the seat of a roller coaster thrill ride during the 2024 racing season. After enduring chassis and motor failures throughout his second full season of 410 Sprint Car competition, Arenz put together one of his strongest performances of the year as his 25T machine fired on all cylinders in a non-sanctioned 410 Sprint Car event held during the 2024 Falls Classic at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 21. The 17th-year racer opened the night by qualifying third in the 22-car field with a lap of 13.452 seconds. After starting fourth in the third eight-lap 410 Sprint Car heat race, the 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion raced to victory to secure a spot in the six-lap dash, which set the top starting positions in the evening's A-main. Arenz went on to win the six-lap 410 Sprint Car dash from his outside front row starting position to claim the pole position for the 25-lap A-main. The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver, who owns a total of 71 career A-main victories across four different racing divisions, held the top spot throughout the first half of the race before Blake Nimee slipped past to secure the top spot. Nimee retained control all the way to the checker as Arenz went on to tally his seventh top five main event showing of the 2024 season with a second place run. "The car felt very good in qualifying," Arenz said. "I was very pleased to have a strong lap time. We made some small adjustments with this different car and so far they seem to be working. In the heat and dash, the car worked well and I was able to hit my marks. I knew I had the best starting position to win the feature. As the laps progressed and we got into lapped traffic, the car kind of went away a bit. I should've gone further in snugging the car up for the feature than what I did. I just didn't want to over do it." The Travis Arenz Motorsports is preparing to compete in the final Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association event of the 2024 season at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 28 as part of the seventh annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships. In addition to the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series, the Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships will also feature the Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Cars, Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Cars and IRA Lightning Sprints, which will close out their 2024 points seasons at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, Sept. 28. Spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps at 5 p.m. All 2024 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events will be streamed live on FloRacing. The Travis Arenz 25T Motorsports Team continues to seek crew members to assist the team. Those interested can send a direct message to Travis through the Travis Arenz Motorsports Facebook page. "I am still looking for another set of crew hands to help for the remainder of the season and, hopefully, for seasons to come," Arenz said. (PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 24, 2024 - Alex Pokorski and the members of the Akright Auto Racing Team took on the challenge of competing in two different cars in two different divisions on back-to-back nights of competition and delivered a pair of rock-solid finishes in Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car competition on Friday, Sept. 20 and non-sanctioned 410 Sprint Car action on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. On the second night of the Wilmot Fall Classic at the historic three-eighths-mile semi-banked facility, Pokorski opened the MSA 360 Sprint Car program by qualifying second overall in the 21-car field with a lap of 13.864 seconds. After lining up fourth in heat race one, the 2023 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Most Improved Driver Award winner wound up second to nail down the fifth starting position in the 25-lap MSA main event. The West Bend competitor found the going to be on the challenging side in the initial laps of the A-main as he was shuffled back to 11th after a caution on lap 4. Over the final 15 laps of the event, Pokorski skillfully steered his way back through the field to cross the line in fifth place in a race won by Brandon Berth. "In the main event, we just needed more restarts on the outside," Pokorski said. "We kept losing spots on restarts due to being on the inside lane." One night later, Pokorski and the Akright Auto Racing Team crew returned to Wilmot Raceway for the final night of the Wilmot Fall Classic for a non-sanctioned 410 Sprint Car event on Saturday, Sept. 21. In his fourth appearance in the seat of a 410 Winged Sprint Car, Pokorski qualified seventh in the 22-car field in 13.695 seconds. The fifth-year Sprint Car racer started second in the first eight-lap heat race and went on to post his first career 410 Sprint Car heat race victory and secure a spot in the six-lap dash. After starting and finishing fourth in the dash, Pokorski nailed down an outside second-row starting spot in the 25-lap 410 Sprint Car main event. Pokorski drove a smooth and consistent race to record his first career top-10 410 Sprint Car A-main finish with a 10th place showing in a race won by Blake Nimee. "The night went as well as we could've asked for," Pokorski said. "It was great to get a heat race win. We missed the setup a bit for feature time, but if you would've offered us a 10th place finish at the beginning of the night, we would've taken it. Overall, it was a solid night." Pokorski and the Akright Auto Racing Team are set to cap the 2024 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car campaign at the seventh annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis., which will also feature the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Cars, Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Cars and IRA Lightning Sprints. Spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with "on-track action" scheduled to commence at 5 p.m. The event will be available to view via live stream at floracing.com. - Arenz rebounds with sterling top five Cedar Lake Richert run
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 11, 2024 - Six days after crashing out of contention for a top finish at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., Travis Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports team bounced back in a major way with a sterling performance in the prestigious 24th annual Jerry Richert Memorial at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 7. After forgoing the IRA's stop at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis. on Friday, Sept. 6 to allow extra time to button up his 25T entry following The Hill wreck, Arenz opened the $7,000-to-win Richert Memorial event by qualifying 24th in the 32-car field with a lap of 11.787 seconds. The 17th-year competitor then advanced from the sixth starting position to nab a fourth place showing the fourth eight-lap IRA heat race and secure a spot in the 30-lap headline event. "After finding significant frame damage on our main car, we used the spare car at Cedar Lake," Arenz said. "One of our other motors got completed on Friday as well, so I was able to pick that up to put in the spare car. I was pretty frustrated with our qualifying results at Cedar Lake. I'm not used to driving the backup car as much as my main car and it handles differently. "In the heat race, I knew I needed to at least pass one car and stay in that position," he said. "The track kept having more and more moisture come out as the night progressed, so I needed to be strategic with what lines I ran and when. I did make a mistake and spun during the heat, but I was able to come back and earn a transfer position to the feature." The 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion started 16th and wasted little time moving to the front of the top quality-filled field. True to his hard-charging style, Arenz utilized every available racing line to slice his way to the front of the pack. In the closing stages of the race, the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. competitor found himself dueling with several 410 Sprint Car racing heavy hitters, including Scotty Thiel, Joel Myers Jr., Kerry Madsen and Justin Henderson. Arenz used strong restarts in the closing stages of the race to pull out a strong fourth place showing and earn hard charger honors after advancing 12 spots in a race won by Danny Sams III. The fourth place finish marked Arenz's fifth top five and 10th top 10 showing in 15 IRA events during the 2024 campaign. "I thought a lot about what changes I wanted to make for the feature," Arenz said. "With the amount of moisture, the track still had come feature time, there were different things I could adjust to achieve similar reactions of the car. My biggest goal for the night was to finish a feature with this car. In all the times it has raced, I have never finished a race with it. So, it was huge to not only complete a feature but also earn the hard charger award." The 25T Travis Arenz Motorsports Team is scheduled to compete with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 14. Following a rain out on May 26, the event is set to be the lone scheduled IRA appearance at 141 Speedway in 2024. The IRA Lightning Sprints, IMCA Sport Mods and Pro Legends are also on the card with spectator gates opening at 3 p.m. and racing slated to begin at 6 p.m. - Hartmann experiences highs, lows in IRA northwestern jaunt
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 11, 2024 - Austin Hartmann and the members of the 87A Hartmann Racing crew traversed the twists and turns of life on the road with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series to the broadest extent with a shimmering start and a disheartening finish in a two-race tour of northern and western Wisconsin at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior on Friday, Sept. 6 and Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond on Saturday, Sept. 7. The weekend opened at the four-tenths-mile high-banked Gondik Law Speedway in Superior for the annual Northern Nationals on Friday, Sept. 6 where Hartmann began the night with the 13th fastest qualifying time in the 25-car field with a lap of 15.531 seconds. The Plymouth, Wis. driver then started and finished fifth in the first eight-lap IRA heat race to earn the 13th starting position in the 25-lap main event. Hartmann survived an attrition-filled main event, which saw just 12 competitors cross the finish line, with a solid sixth place effort behind race winner Danny Sams III. It was Hartmann's eighth top 10 A-main finish of the 2024 season and fourth straight IRA main event in which he improved positions from the start to the finish of the race. The 87A Hartmann Racing Team traveled to three-eighths-mile high-banked Cedar Lake Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 7 for the prestigious 24th annual Jerry Richert Memorial with a $7,000 first-place prize on the line. On the way to the track, the 87A Hartmann Racing Team encountered misfortune when the team's transport rig collided with horses gathered on the road. While the collision caused damage to the team's truck and trailer, all team members escaped injury. Once on track at Cedar Lake, the 2020 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car Rookie of the Year Award winner qualified 20th in the 32-car field with a lap of 11.568 seconds before placing sixth after starting fifth in the fourth eight-lap heat race. Hartmann then advanced to the 24-car Jerry Richert Memorial main event with a second place showing in the 12-lap IRA B main after starting the pole. After starting 22nd, the fifth-year Sprint Car competitor moved up seven spots and was running in 15th position when the motor in his 87A machine expired on lap 28. He was credited with a 17th place finish in the 30-lap event, which went to Danny Sams III. "Friday at Gondik Law didn't start the greatest with a bad qualifying performance, but we were able to pass some cars in the feature and come out with a good finish," Hartmann said. "On the way to Cedar Lake, we got into a road accident, which was not a good experience. I'm glad everyone walked away alright and nobody was hurt. We blew up a motor in the A main at Cedar Lake on Saturday night. We will get things figured out for Saturday at 141." Austin Hartmann and the members of the 87A Hartmann Racing Team are scheduled to compete with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 14. - Arenz duels for IRA win finishes runner-up at Plymouth
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 4, 2024 - After claiming his first and, so far, only Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series A-main victory last season at a track he knows better than any other, Travis Arenz came oh so close to racking 410 main event victory No. 2 with a large Sheboygan County Fair crowd on hand to spur on the home track driver Saturday, Aug. 31 at The Plymouth Dirt Track. Arenz opened the night by qualifying 14th in the 27-car IRA field with a lap of 12.552 seconds. He then moved up three spots to place second from the fifth starting position in the second IRA heat race to advance to the 30-lap headliner. The 2021 and 2022 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car champion started 11th in the main event and moved up quickly utilizing the high and low lines around the smooth, wide and multi-groove racing surface. The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver worked his way into the top five on lap 12 and moved into second on lap 18 before tracking down race leader Joel Myers Jr. in heavy lapped traffic to steal the lead on lap 21 just before a red flag appeared on the following lap for Shelby Bosie's flip. The 17th-year driver held the lead on the restart and paced the field for the next four laps before Myers Jr. regained the lead with a slide job on lap 26. Arenz had to settle for second and his fourth top five showing of the 2024 IRA season. "Our night at Plymouth didn't start off the best but we have definitely had worse," Arenz said. "Starting outside of the top 10, I knew if I wanted any chance of winning, I needed to set the car up to run where I needed, find the fastest lane and make smart moves. Unfortunately, lap traffic killed my momentum with a few laps to go and I gave up the lead. It was a fun battle and I'm happy to bring home a strong podium finish." Arenz's fortunes weren't nearly as good in the IRA's debut appearance at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. on Sunday, Sept. 1 He opened the night with a solid second place qualifying with a lap of 12.427 seconds before moving up from fourth to second in the second IRA heat race to earn a spot in the dash for the eighth time during the 2024 campaign. After improving from fourth to third in the four-lap IRA dash, Arenz fired off from the sixth starting spot in the 30-lap main event. Arenz's luck went sour on lap 3 when he flipped his 25T machine in turn four while battling with Jake Blackhurst. With little visible damage, Arenz retreated to the work area and managed to return to the race at the rear of the field with a taped-up top wing, which had taken the brunt of the damage during the flip. Following the restart, Arenz advanced quickly from 19th to 12th on lap 15 before the sideboard of the wing collapsed, which severely impeded the handling of his car. He held on the rest of the way to post a 16th place showing as Joel Myers completed the weekend sweep. "At The Hill, we qualified well and felt good in the early part of the night," Arenz said. "We had a good starting position in the A, but I made an error and ended up rolling the car. The damage to the top wing and other parts definitely made the car a handful and caused a bit further damage to some front-end components, but we survived the race. We also found some frame damage. However, we are still hoping to compete in Superior and Cedar Lake this weekend." The Travis Arenz 25T Motorsports Team continues to seek crew members to assist the team. Those interested can send a direct message to Travis through the Travis Arenz Motorsports Facebook page. "I am still looking for another set of crew hands to help for the remainder of the season and, hopefully, for seasons to come," Arenz said. "Anyone with an interest can reach out to me for more info." The WISSOTA Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Mods will also be on the card. Spectator gates open at 3 p.m. and hot laps are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. with racing underway at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 7, Arenz and team will travel to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. for the prestigious 24th annual Jerry Richert Memorial. - Hartmann charges ahead, banks top 10 at The Hill
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 4, 2024 - Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing Team completed a two-race weekend of Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Cars competition with both speed and consistency tucked firmly in their back pocket after a pair of forward-moving showings at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 31 and The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. on Sunday, Sept. 1. With a large Sheboygan County Fair Night crowd looking on, Hartmann kicked off the doubleheader weekend with a 19th place qualifying effort in the 27-car field based on a lap of 12.768 around the Plymouth, Wis. driver's home track. The fifth-year Sprint Car competitor started and finished seventh in the first eight-lap IRA heat race before starting third and placing fifth in the 12-lap IRA B-main to gain a transfer position to the evening's 25-lap main event. Despite being mired in the 23rd starting spot, the 2020 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association Rookie of the Year Award winner negotiated his way through two cautions and a red flag period to charge up eight spots and tally a 15th place finish in a race won by Joel Myers Jr. One night later, the 87A racing team made the trek north to Sturgeon Bay for the first-ever IRA 410 Sprint Car event at The Hill Raceway. Before a near-capacity crowd, Hartmann took an immediate liking to the slightly banked third-mile clay oval ripping off the sixth fastest qualifying lap in the 21-car field with a tour of the track in 12.667 seconds. After starting and finishing third in the third eight-lap IRA heat race, Hartmann advanced to the IRA dash for the sixth time during the 2024 season. A fifth place showing in the first IRA dash gave Hartmann the ninth starting spot in the 30-lap main event. The A-main saw Hartmann mix it up at the front of the field throughout the event. He pulled off several key passes along the low groove of the smooth and slick racing surface to come home with a sixth place showing behind race winner Joel Myers Jr. The strong sixth place result marked the seventh top 10 A-main finish of the 2024 campaign for the 87A Hartmann Racing Team. Throughout the two-race weekend, Hartmann advanced his 87A car 11 positions in A-main action. "We felt like we had a good recovery going from a rough start to the night at Plymouth until the tires sealed over on a late race red in the A," Hartmann said. "Coming into Sunday at The Hill, we didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be a great night. We were a few spots short of a top five, but it was still a strong run. We'll keep building on this momentum and work toward moving up a couple more spots this coming weekend." Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing team are set to head north and west for a big weekend of Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series action starting Friday, Sept. 6 at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis. for the annual Northern Nationals. - Alex Pokorski takes 10th top 10, eyes MSA final two
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 3, 2024 - Akright Auto Racing Team driver Alex Pokorski overcame the challenge of steering an uncooperative car to pull out a top 10 finish in a 25-lap Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing - Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car main event held during the annual Sheboygan County Fair Night at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 31. The West Bend, Wis. competitor qualified eighth in the 27-car PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car Association field with a lap of 12.660 seconds to earn an outside front-row starting spot in the second eight-lap heat race. The fifth-year 360 Sprint Car racer grabbed the lead from the outside front row starting spot and rolled to his fourth PDTR-MSA heat race victory of the 2024 campaign. The West Bend, Wis. competitor got off to a tough start in the 25-lap PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car main event as he fell back to eighth in the running order by lap 5. After dropping to 11th around the halfway point of the event, Pokorski advanced to ninth when Bill Taylor and Tyler Davis dropped out of the event following damage incurred during an incident in turn one on lap 21. Following a single-file restart, Pokorski came home ninth in a race won by Justin Erickson. "We had a pretty solid car for the heat race and it was nice to get a win," Pokorski said. "We tried a different setup in the feature and it missed the mark. I had to fight the car most of the race. We will learn from it and move on to the next race." Alex's father, Paul, also took another turn behind the wheel of Spyder Akright's 53A machine on Saturday, Aug. 31 qualifying seventh overall with a lap of 12.557 seconds before starting third and placing second one spot behind race winner Alex Pokorski, who started third. In the 25-lap PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car main event, Paul started fifth and quickly moved into third on lap 2 after sweeping past both Alex and Brandon Berth in the early going. Following a caution flag on lap 5, Paul's machine suffered a flat right rear tire in an unusual fashion following slight contact on the restart, which forced him to the work area. After rejoining the field in the 19th spot, Paul held his own over the final 20 laps to post an 18th place showing. "The car was very comfortable in qualifying and the heat race," Paul said. "We made some small changes for the feature and it was feeling pretty good. I had a little help from behind and hit the back bumper of the car in front of me. I think our bumpers hooked and my front bumper came off and I ran it over. That flattened the right rear tire. The spare bumper the crew put on in the work area was a different size, which offset the car. It was not as good after the incident. The last half of the race was just trying to finish. It was a disappointing end to an otherwise really good night." With one event remaining in the 2024 PDTR 360 Sprint Car season, Alex sits second in the points race 43 points behind points leader Ben Schmidt and five points ahead of Justin Erickson. Alex currently stands fourth in the MSA Sprints standings nine points behind the third place car of Justin Erickson, 48 points behind present runner-up Brandon Berth and 90 points in the rear of point leader Ben Schmidt with two races remaining in the 2024 season. With the PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Cars off for the next two weekends, the Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team's next scheduled race is an Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car event as part of the Fall Classic at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Friday, Sept. 20. The Winged Crate Sprint Cars, Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Cars, A Modifieds, Street Stocks and Bandits are also on the card. Pokorski and the team will then close out the 2024 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car campaign at the seventh annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships at The Plymouth Dirt Track, which will also feature the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Cars, Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Cars and IRA Lightning Sprints. Spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with "on-track action" scheduled to commence at 5 p.m. The event will be available to view via live stream at floracing.com. - Post approaches Plymouth A, 2024 season finale on tap
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 3, 2024 - In what has been a grab-bag type of season, Randy Post and the crew of the Randy Post No. 54 Racing Team came tantalizingly close to advancing to their sixth Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association main event of the 2024 campaign on Saturday, Aug. 31 at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. held during the 2024 Sheboygan County Fair. The third-year 360 Sprint Car campaigner opened the night by qualifying 18th in the 27-car field with a lap of 12.929 seconds. From there, Post started eighth and finished seventh in the second eight-lap PDTR-MSA heat race. "The car felt okay to start the night, but it was a bit tight in both qualifying and the heat race," Post said. "I wish we would have started off looser. I'm still adjusting to having more power with this new motor." Post launched from the sixth starting spot in the 12-lap PDTR-MSA B main needing to finish in the top seven to earn a spot in the 25-lap main event. The Oostburg, Wis. resident endured a pair of caution flags and hovered in and around the seventh position throughout the race. On the final restart with two laps to go, Post's No. 54 machine got shuffled back from seventh to ninth to miss out on an A-main berth by two spots. It was the second consecutive week Post missed transferring to the PDTR-MSA A-main. On Friday, Aug. 23, Post was running sixth in the PDTR B-main with an A-main transfer position in sight when he was forced to retire from the race due to a throttle linkage issue. "The B-main was very disheartening," Post said. "While in a transfer spot with two laps to go, we restarted on the top, got freight trained, and missed the transfer. Although we were faster than a few cars that made the A, I can't do anything but congratulate them. We need to figure out how to be faster earlier in the night because this whole 'not making features two nights in a row' thing is completely disappointing and hard to bring to terms. I've lost sleep on how to make that second groove work in our favor." Following three weeks off, Post is scheduled to put a lid on the 2024 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car campaign at the seventh annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, Sept. 28, which will also feature the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Cars, Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Cars and IRA Lightning Sprints. - Alex Pokorski scores top five Plymouth-MSA run, Fair Night race on tap
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 27, 2024 - With the final laps of the 2024 season in sight, Alex Pokorski and the Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team crew strung together a strong top five A-main showing in a 25-lap Plymouth Dirt Track Racing - Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car main event Friday, Aug. 23 at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. The West Bend, Wis. competitor opened the night by qualifying eighth in the 29-car PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car Association field. After starting second in the first eight-lap PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car heat race, Pokorski came home third to earn a berth in the 25-lap headliner. The 2023 PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car Most Improved Award winner fired off from the outside front row starting spot in the 25-lap main event and fell back to fourth in the early going before being cycled back to fifth near the halfway point of the event. Following a red flag and two yellow flags, Pokorski utilized the third and final caution flag restart to bolt past T.J. Smith into fourth on lap 20. Pokorski maintained the fourth spot the rest of the way in a race won by Scotty Thiel. "We had a fuel leak issue in qualifying, which we fixed for the heat race," Pokorski said. "Following the heat race, we tuned up the fuel some more for the feature to get it right, along with some other adjustments to the car. The track was very nice again, which made for good racing. We lost a spot on the first two restarts by being in the wrong lane. We then got one spot back on the final restart when we started in the preferred lane. It was a solid night, just not what we needed to close up points on the guys ahead of us in the point standings." With two races remaining in the 2024 PDTR 360 Sprint Car season, Pokorski stands second, 34 points behind point leader Ben Schmidt in the chase for the season points title. Pokorski also sits third in the MSA 360 Sprint Car point standings, 34 points behind second-place Brandon Berth and 85 behind point leader Ben Schmidt with three races left in the 2024 MSA campaign. - Post returns to PDTR-MSA field, mechanical gremlins linger
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 27, 2024 - After a month-long absence from Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing - Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car competition, Randy Post returned to the seat of the Randy Post Racing No. 54 machine at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Friday, Aug. 23 with hopes of building off a career-best sixth place A-main showing in his most recent PDTR appearance on Saturday, July 20. After suffering motor issues, which prevented him from turning a competitive lap in an MSA event in his most recent outing at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Friday, July 26, Post had been out of action for three consecutive weekends before getting back at it on Aug. 23. The third-year PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car campaigner opened the night by qualifying 20th overall in the 29-car field with a 13.194-second tour of the 74-year-old third-mile clay oval. From there, Post lined up seventh and came home seventh in the first eight-lap PDTR-MSA heat race, which put him in the 12-lap B-main needing a top six finish to lock into the 25-lap PDTR-MSA main event. Post rolled off sixth in the 12-lap PDTR MSA B main and was holding his own in the sixth position until the halfway point when he was forced to retire from the race due to a throttle linkage issue. The night came to an early end for the Oostburg, Wis. driver with an 11th place B-main finish. "The beginning of the night was a little weird because we had some issues originally that I had fixed, but we never started the car again to make sure that was the issue," Post said. "In qualifying, I was more worried about watching the temperature and listening to the motor to make sure it was running well while knowing we were in a stacked heat and starting in the back. I just wanted to try to move up as far as we could since I knew our chances of making it into the feature through the heat were very slim. "The car was handling very well in the B-main and we were holding the transfer spot," Post said. "Then the throttle linkage broke, ending our night. That's fixed now and we will work on our regular maintenance this week to be better for my favorite race night of the year during the Sheboygan County Fair." The Randy Post Racing Team is set to compete in an Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing - Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car event, along with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Cars, during the 2024 Sheboygan County Fair at Sheboygan County Fair Park in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 31. (PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 20, 2024 - Alex Pokorski and the members of the Akright Auto Racing Team tacked on a few more pages to their 410 Sprint Car notebook during the team's third start of the 2024 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series season on Sunday, Aug. 18 in the annual Corn Fest event at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. The 2023 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Most Improved Driver Award winner fired up the night by qualifying 22nd in the 27-car field after circling the historic third-mile clay oval in 13.858 seconds. After rolling off eighth in the first IRA eight-lap heat race, Pokorski placed ninth, which put him in the 12-lap B main needing to finish in the top six to earn an A-main berth. The West Bend, Wis. driver responded by advancing two spots from the eighth starting position to gain a berth in his second career 30-lap IRA 410 Sprint Car Series main event with a sixth place showing. Pokorski survived four race stoppages, including a red flag leading to an open red period, to move up six spots from his 24th starting perch and claim an 18th place A-main finish in a race won by Joe B. Miller. The result equaled Pokorski's 18th place showing in his first career IRA 410 Sprint Car Series A-main at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, May 24. "It was a fun night," Pokorski said. "I feel pretty comfortable in the 410 car. We battled with engine heat issues all night. Hopefully, we can fix that." Pokorski was scheduled to compete in a Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car event on Saturday, Aug. 17, which was cancelled due to rain.
