- Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour announces 2025 schedule
Placerville, CA - December 13, 2024…Russell Motorsports Inc. has officially released the 2025 schedule of events for the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour. The California based Winged Sprint Car series is set to contest its eighth overall season, which offers another exciting slate of races up and down the West Coast. "The Sprint Car Challenge Tour looks to be in for another entertaining season," commented President Scott Russell. "We did our best to work around other schedules and avoid conflicts. Some years are better than others regarding that. With how things came together on the calendar though, we know there are a few conflicts this year between the various series and tracks. When you look at it from March to November however, fans and teams have plenty of great racing to choose from. We want to send a huge thank you to Elk Grove Ford, Hoosier Tire and all the partners that make this tour possible." The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour will compete in a total of 16 events, which gets underway with the March 29th "Thrill on the Hill," marking the first of three appearances at Placerville Speedway. The tour returns to Placerville on Friday May 30th for the inaugural "Davy Thomas Memorial," which acts as a prelude to the following nights Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial featuring the NARC 410s. SCCT will also compete at the red clay on July 19th as part of Speedweek. Continuing to rise in popularity among fans and teams is Merced Speedway, which is back on the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour schedule. California's top Winged 360 Sprint Car teams will invade the high-banked quarter mile on Saturday April 19th. The Petaluma Speedway plays host to a pair of Sprint Car Challenge Tour events in 2025. Those dates will occur on June 14th with an event dubbed as "Wings Over Wine Country" and September 20th, as SCCT sanctions the $5,000-to-win "Adobe Cup" for the fourth consecutive season. The Sprint Car Challenge Tour will again sanction the 25th annual "Mel and Marlyn Hall Memorial" held on Memorial Day weekend. This year's event takes place on Sunday May 25th, as part of a busy holiday weekend in Nor-Cal. The always challenging and popular Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare hosts the SCCT 360s for the "Trophy Cup Tune-Up" on Saturday October 4th. The show held two weeks before the 31st Trophy Cup gives teams one final chance at track time prior to the big weekend. For the second straight season the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour will embark upon Western Sprint Tour Speedweek, which gets even bigger in 2025. The overall Speedweek champion will claim $4,000 with the runner up receiving $2,500 and third place getting $1,500. All main events are a guaranteed $3,000-to-win/ $400-to-start. All the action launches at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico on Friday July 18th with the annual "Tyler Wolf Memorial," followed by the $5,000-to-win/ $500-to-start "Gold Pan Rampage" at Placerville Speedway on Saturday July 19th. A travel day will be held on Sunday, before action resumes at the Douglas County Dirt Track in Roseburg, Oregon on Monday July 21st. Speedweek heads for the coast on Tuesday with a date at the beautiful Coos Bay Speedway on July 22nd and continues north to Cottage Grove Speedway on Wednesday July 23rd. Another travel day with a Fan Fest/ Kick-Off Party on Thursday sets up the SCCT debut at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Washington for the two-night "360 Summer Nationals" highlighted by a $26,000-to-win/ $600-to-start main event on Saturday. Speedweek all culminates with the "Hall of Fame Tribute-360 Battle Royale" on Sunday July 27th at Gray's Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington. "I really want to thank the staff at Skagit Speedway for coming on board and working with us on Western Sprint Tour Speedweek," said Russell. "They are offering a great purse for the racers at the 360 Nationals, which should make for an outstanding weekend of racing. We're excited to visit Skagit and Elma for the first time with SCCT, as well as visit all the tracks that are a part of the week." Jon Hager with Skagit Speedway also shared his sentiments. "We are excited to collaborate with Scott and Kami to bring SCCT to Skagit Speedway. The 360 Summer Nationals will certainly benefit from the addition of several cars from down south and such talented drivers. The partnership has the potential to elevate an already great scene of 360 Sprint Car racing in the Pacific Northwest for years to come. We look forward to building a long-term relationship with the SCCT series." As is the norm, the Stockton Dirt Track wraps up the SCCT campaign with the "Tribute to Gary Patterson Part II" on Saturday November 8th. The event is part of an expanded two-week run for the GP race, which includes the NARC finale now taking place one week earlier. The Sprint Car Challenge Tour will be paired with the always exciting Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprints at the finale. Thanks to the generous support from Elk Grove Ford, Hoosier Tires and RMI the SCCT champion once again pockets $10,000 cash. If a driver/team wins both the SCCT and Placerville Speedway titles, they will walk away with $20,000 total thanks to the Russell Motorsports Inc. Double Down Bonus. - JEFF AND SETH DYER FINISH THE 2024 SEASON THIS WEEK
(Yucca Valley, CA, November 26, 2024) With the holidays beckoning just around the corner, Jeff Dyer and his teenage son Seth are set to finish their 2024 racing seasons this Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Wednesday's show will be the 8th annual Western States Lightning Sprint Car Championship for the California Lightning Sprint Cars at the Bakersfield Speedway. Both Jeff and Seth will be racing in that one. Friday and Saturday, Jeff will compete in the Inland Rigging Ultimate Sprint Car Series portion of the 83rd Turkey Night Grand Prix at the Ventura Raceway. Wednesday's race had originally been scheduled for Tuesday night. However, heavy rainstorms on Monday and Tuesday forced the event's postponement until Wednesday. It will be the final race in the 30th season for the California Lightning Sprint Cars. Jeff, a California Highway Patrol Officer, when he is not racing, sits comfortably in third heading into the finale. Seventeen-year-old Seth is seventh in the CLS championship standings, but he is only 10 points out of sixth. Jeff's best finish with the CLS on "The West's Fastest 1/3 Mile High Banked Clay Oval" in 2024 came on March 16th when he placed second. Seth's best showing at the "Okie Bowl" came when he finished fourth on May 18th. However, in June the teen led the first nine laps of the main event and seemed to have the field covered until he slowed with a broken engine. After Wednesday, the team will slap restrictors on the Cal Smith Racing/Dyer Motorsports yellow #39 410 sprint car and head to the prestigious Turkey Knight Grand Prix at Ventura. It will be Jeff's first appearance in one of the USA's most famous dirt track races. On Friday night, he will be one of 60 cars trying to race their way into Saturday's finale. Only the top 42 in points on Friday will race again on Saturday. The two nights of racing at the track, which is located at the beach on the Ventura County Fairgrounds, will be Jeff's first time in a full-size sprint car at Ventura in 2024. However, he has been a force on the tiny track this year in lightning sprints. In five starts, he has two runner-up results, two third-place finishes, and he came home ninth once. Adult general admission tickets at Bakersfield are $25.00. For kids 6-12, general admission tickets are $15.00. For children 5 and under, general admission tickets are free. For seniors 65+ and military (ID required), general admission tickets are $22.00. The track is located at 5001 N. Chester Ext., in Bakersfield (93308). The track website is http://www.bakersfieldspeedway.com/ and the office phone number is (661) 393-3373. At Ventura, spectator gates will open at 3:00 p.m., with cars on the track at 3:30 on both days. Advance tickets can be purchased at www.venturaraceway.com. Additional information is available at 805-648-7223. The famous track is located on the Ventura County Fairgrounds at 10 W. Harbor Boulevard in Ventura (93001). For fans who cannot make it to the track, all three nights will be streamed live on Flo Racing. Seth wrapped up the GAS Chassis Young Gun portion of his 2024 season at Perris Auto Speedway on November 9th. A clogged fuel line between the tank and the filter forced him to drop out of the race early. In 2024, the following marketing partners will help keep the Dyers on track. Dependable Machine Inc., Haircuts By Susie, Jobu Racing, LBA Investigations, Straight Time Stirrups, Justice Brothers, Fonseca Racing, Specialty Fasteners, and Blud Racing Lubricants. If you would like to be a part of Dyer Motorsports in 2024, call (760) 550-7237 or send an email to mailto:dyermotorsports4@gmail.com. - NARC NEWSLINE - OCTOBER 1, 2024
NARC NEWSLINE - OCTOBER 1, 2024, By Jim Allen ... Imagine if the NFL played their first 12 games of the season and then took off two months before another game was played? Or just when the baseball pennant races heated up in July, the MLB didn't play another game until October? Well, welcome to the NARC 410 Sprint Car season! The last time we played in the dirt was July 27th at Santa Maria Speedway, a race won by Chase Johnson and the top three in the NARC championship standings somehow managed to crash out or break in three separate incidents. Unpredictable as a WWE match. At that point on the calendar, 18 races were in the books and the excitement and momentum was at a fevered pitch. We had a tight points chase, 12 different winners, four rookie drivers in the top 15, and open wheel competition that has been off the charts. In fact, we still have those things, we just had to fast forward 70-days for the High Limit and World of Outlaws shows to come through. Along those lines, California continues to be a powerhouse and hotbed of creating top national sprint car talent. Of the 15 combined High Limit and Outlaw shows on the West Coast, eight were claimed by California drivers (Michael Kofoid - 3, Carson Macedo - 2, Rico Abreu - 2, Corey Day - 1). Fresno car owner Dennis Roth scored five wins between the two series with Kofoid and Aussie James McFadden. Honorable west coast mention goes to Trey Starks, who scored not one, but two HL feature victories (Grays Harbor & Skagit) helping to prove my point that he is one of the most underrated drivers in the country. Justin Sanders, Shane Golobic, Cole Macedo, and DJ Netto fared the best among the NARC locals with 17 top five finishes combined. Sanders and Golobic both scored a pair of runner-up finishes. Tim Kaeding even nailed down an impressive runner-up finish at Merced Speedway. CHASE JOHNSON: While all that was going on, we have been talking and thinking and praying about Chase Johnson a lot lately. Who would have thought his scenario was even possible? Chase's crash at the High Limit Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway didn't appear to be any worse than others we have witnessed, but the physical damage was painful to read. Chase broke his back in several spots which required a nine-hour surgery. Throw in additional setbacks like a rough bout of pneumonia, a collapsed lung, and a finicky feeding tube and you have a life-changing scenario. The 28-year-old driver, who always possesses a positive outlook and a million-dollar smile, is a fighter and one of the toughest guys we know. After five long weeks in the ICU at UC Davis in Sacramento, Chase had stabilized enough to be airlifted to the Shepard Center in Georgia. It is a highly-renown facility that specializes in spinal cord rehabilitation injuries. We will continue to monitor social media posts from wife Haley Johnson and the Johnson family during this process. On another note: The good news is Chase has medical insurance. The bad news is he has medical insurance. They say that the best insurance to have .., is insurance you never have to use because it seldom pays or covers the enormity of the expenses or allows coverage into premium world-class rehabilitation facilities. However, due to the amazing outpouring of support by fans, friends, and family of Chase, the Shepard Center became a reality and the best option for recovery. It's a super expensive ordeal and he will be there for at least 11 weeks. Please keep those positive vibes, thoughts, and prayers coming for the entire Johnson family, but also continue with the helmet passes, track barbecues, and t-shirt and decal sales. Or contribute to their house-payment program or make donations to the NARC Benevolent Fund and/or the GoFundMe account. His recovery requires a long-term plan of attack. He needs ongoing treatment so that one day soon, he can skip out of that facility under his own power. We know Chase is positive, strong-willed and is willing to fight with every inch of his soul. Please help him in the process. By the way, you can donate to Chase's GoFundMe account at … https://gofund.me/7ddbc02c Want to send Chase a get-well card? Here's the address: Johnny Franklin's Muffler ATTN: Chase Johnson 128 Bellam Blvd San Rafael, CA 94901 United States In hindsight, it's been a rough year on the NARC driver's roster. It closely resembles a weekly NFL injury report. Let's not forget that Ryan Robinson was forced to retire after his violent crash during the Mini Gold Cup back in March. In the good news department, Angelique Bell is almost fully recovered from her fiery June 12th crash at Southern Oregon Speedway. The burns have healed, but she still needs an occasional steroid shot in her vocal cords to get her voice back to 100%. She has managed to keep her sense of humor and upbeat attitude throughout the process. By the way, and this is a big "BY THE WAY," Angelique will be making her second season debut at Hanford on October 5th in a new family-owned race car. We plan to work in an opening ceremony interview with her. Then there was two-time NARC champion Dominic Scelzi, who was hearing church bells ringing in his head after his Super Dirt Cup crash at Skagit. Not to mention rib injuries of the type you would normally get in a fight with a Mike Tyson or Jake Paul. That took almost two months to recover from, but he is back to consuming tacos at his usual pace and frequency, so he is back to normal. Justyn Cox, who is currently third in NARC driver points, is expected to be out for the rest of the season in the Bates-Hamilton 42X with a back injury. He was hurt at a High Limit race, this one at the Douglas County Dirtrack in August. He is trying to nurse a broken and compressed T3 vertebra back into shape. Unfortunately, he will drop completely out of the top ten in points during the healing process. It's been one of those years. CALISTOGA SPEEDWAY: Yes, it's hard to believe, but movement is finally being seen, or at least scheduled, at the Napa County Fairgrounds. There is a Fairgrounds Community Clean Up Day scheduled for October 19th. Unfortunately, that is Trophy Cup weekend so racer participation may be limited. The good news is that there is a buzz at the fairgrounds with the hiring of Shelly Wright as the Fair Revitalization Director. She is a former fair manager at Lakeport and is a fan of motorsports, which is a huge plus for reopening the historic ½ mile oval. Tommy Hunt is excited at the possibilities and feels that the Louie Vermeil Classic should become a reality in 2025. NARC NOTES: Here is a strange fact for you. The October 5th race at Hanford will be the first visit by the NARC sprint cars this season. The first two shows, the Dave Helm Memorial and Peter Murphy Classic rained out. … Although we are not expecting to see Willie Croft at any of our final five NARC events, he will be at the Trophy Cup. Give the 53-year-old driver a proper send off for an entertaining and successful racing career. … Among the drivers who still are looking for a NARC 410 win in '24 include Bud Kaeding, Caeden Steele, Gauge Garcia, Dylan Bloomfield, Nick Parker, Kaleb Montgomery, and Tanner Carrick. … Kalib Henry, who has been enjoying sprint car success racing in the Midwest, will be competing at the next two NARC shows …The numerical stat lines of Justin Sanders and Cole Macedo are almost identical with 80% of the season complete. The only real difference is Sanders has five wins to Macedo's three. There is a three-point premium for winning (42-39), compared to second place. Sanders leads this horse race by only three-points. Stay tuned! … Speaking of identical, Sanders and Macedo both have seven heat race victories this season to lead all NARC drivers. The hot shoe with the most pockets $500 from Kimo's Tropical Car Wash at the year-end banquet. … The NARC top wing wickerbill rule was changed to match the High Limit and WoO rules. … … Gauge Garcia is attempting to zero in on the Williams Roofing season-long Hardcharger title, which pays $1,000 at the banquet. To date, Garcia has advanced 66 cars in the Keller Motorsports sprint car, to lead Nick Parker (57) and Cole Macedo (53). There is no prize for second place. … Special thanks to Ashley Smith, Katie Smith-Williams, Roth Motorsports, EMADCO, Southern Pacific Farms, and Hoosier for their financial support of this Saturday's Morrie Williams Memorial. … Each 20-lap feature pays $3,000 to win and $300 to start., plus a $1,000 bonus to the overall champion. No tire changes are allowed. The intermission between the two mains is about 10-minutes. Only the first race is a NARC points race. The second one is for victory lane glory. … The NARC season finale at Stockton, will feature a racing Legends autograph session. That should kick off around 4:30 p.m. … The upcoming Friday night show (October 25th) at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway will blend asphalt and dirt track events. ARCA will be practicing and qualifying on the ½ mile paved oval in the afternoon, followed by the NARC sprint cars on the dirt oval. … Congrats to Brad Sweet on winning the inaugural High Limit Series championship - something he accomplished with four races still remaining on the HL schedule. NARC BANQUET: The NARC Championship Celebration awards banquet will be held the day after the November 2nd season Tribute to Gary Patterson season finale at the Stockton Dirt Track. The venue is the Brookside Country Club in Stockton, located about 10-minutes from the track. Brookside has hosted the event five-times and is a first-class facility. The brunch, highlight show, NARC Benevolent Fund auction, and awards gets underway at 11:30 p.m. The food is good, and video-producer extraordinaire Mike DeHoogh always puts together entertaining videos. This event is open to not only race teams, sponsors, and promoters, but to race fans as well. For more information contact Jim Allen. So, with all that, the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series will finish with a flurry of October events. It's October 5th at Kings Speedway for the Morrie Williams Memorial Twin-20's and October 12th for the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial at the Thunderbowl. A rare October doubleheader takes place on October 25-26th with a Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway October Classic and the Anthony Simone Classic back at Hanford. The season ends up with a Triple Crown event at the Tribute to Gary Patterson on November 2nd. The Stockton Dirt Track will host the NARC 410, SCCT 360, and Hunt Wingless Series season finales. Coming to you live from Auburn, CA. Get well Chase Johnson. See ya!
- JEFF AND SETH DYER BACK IN ACTION THIS SATURDAY AT VENTURA
(Yucca Valley, CA, September 25, 2024) Dyer Motorsports will be back on the road this Saturday night, September 28, when the father and son team of Jeff and Seth Dyer make the 165-mile trek from Yucca Valley, California, to the Ventura Raceway. The California Lightning Series race will be the family team's fourth night of action in three weeks. Two weeks ago at Ventura, both the #4 and #4JR were in action. In only his second night back after two months off due to a broken arm and concussion he suffered in a violent crash in a USAC/CRA race at Perris, Jeff, a California Highway Patrol Officer by day, placed third in the main. Seventeen-year-old Seth finished three spots behind his father in sixth. Earlier that night, Jeff recorded the second-fastest qualifying time with a lap of 12.363. Seth, who gets faster with each passing race, was fourth at 12.695. Matched together in the second heat, Jeff captured his lead-tying fourth heat race win of the season. Seth took third in the same race. Those finishes came 24 hours after Jeff placed eighth and Seth finished 11th in the CLS main at the Bakersfield Speedway. Last Saturday night, Seth was representing Dyer Motorsports/Cal Smith Racing in the Perris Auto Speedway Young Gun Series. At the last Young Guns race, Seth swept the show, winning both his heat and the main event going away. Things started out the same last weekend when he won his heat race with a full straightaway advantage. His main event fortunes looked bright. However, his shifter cable broke when he was bumping off for the main event, denying his chance to make it two in a row. In addition to Seth racing with the Young Guns last Saturday, longtime veteran Cal Smith drove the same #39 car in the USAC/CRA portion of the show. Unfortunately, Smith left the action early and finished 18th. Fortunately, his early exit meant he had no chance of being involved in the multitude of accidents that saw several cars destroyed. After Saturday, Jeff and Seth will head north for the final round of the Civil War Series that matches the CLS with Northern California's BCRA in the 10th Albright Memorial at Doug Lockwood's Merced Speedway on October 5th. To see Jeff and Seth take on the CLS' finest this Saturday on the "Best Little Dirt Track In America," adult tickets are $18.00. For seniors 65 and over, it is $15.00. Military and students with ids also get in for $15.00. Kids 12 and under are free when an adult accompanies them. Spectator gates will open at 3:00 p.m., and the first race will get the green flag at 5:30. The track is located on the Ventura County Fairgrounds at 10 W. Harbor Boulevard (93001). The website is http://venturaraceway.com/, and the office phone number is (805) 648-RACE. If you have a Facebook account, Seth did an interview before last Saturday's race. You can hear it here https://www.facebook.com/reel/1019188306156799.
