Lakeside, CA — September 10, 2026 — After a week away from the track, Sexton Gatlin Racing heads to California's agriculture-rich Central Valley for two nights of racing this Friday and Saturday, September 11th and 12th. On Friday, Brent Sexton will compete in the grand reopening of Kings Speedway in Hanford. Twenty-four hours later, he will be back in action at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway. His youngest son, Grant, will join him at Bakersfield. Both events will be sanctioned by the Ultimate Sprint Car Series.
This weekend will mark SGR's first action since the August 29th program at Ventura Raceway. Brent competed in both the Ultimate Sprint Car Series and California Lightning Sprints that night. He was joined on the CLS side of the program by current USAC Western States Midget point leader Drake Cardey and rookies Adam Jones and Parker Drottz.
When the lights went out at the tiny oceanside oval following the final race, Cardey had recorded the team's best finish of the night. After missing qualifying, the teenage star started eighth in the Lightning Sprint main event and charged forward to finish third. His five-position advance also earned him the race's Hard Charger award.
Not to be outdone, Sexton, who did not start the Lightning Sprint main, advanced from seventh to fourth in his Ultimate Sprint Car Series heat race. The three-time Lightning Sprint champion then started 11th in the 30-lap USCS main event. He turned in a sterling performance, slicing his way through the field to finish fourth.
Young teammates Jones and Drottz finished 11th and 12th, respectively, in their Lightning Sprint debuts.
Fans wishing to see SGR in action Friday at Kings Speedway can enter when the gates open at 5:00 p.m., with racing scheduled to begin at 6:00. Adult tickets are $20.00, while seniors and students are $15.00. Children 6 and under, military personnel and first responders are admitted free. The 3/8-mile clay oval is located at the Kings Fairgrounds, 801 S. 10th Avenue, Hanford, California.
Twenty-four hours later at Bakersfield Speedway, gates will open at 5:30 p.m., with racing beginning at 7:00. Adult tickets are $25.00, children ages 6-12 are $12.00, and kids 5 and under are free. The track is located at 13500 Raceway Blvd., Bakersfield, CA 93311.
