- Marks runs down Reutzel to claim Kubota High Limit Midweek win at Lucas Oil Speedway
WHEATLAND, MO. (Oct. 15, 2025) - Brent Marks made his move on lap 18 for the lead and went on to capture his fifth Kutoba High Limit Sprint feature victory of the season on Wednesday night at Lucas Oil Speedway. Marks, of Myerstown, Pa., picked up $12,000 for the victory as he beat Aaron Reutzel of Clute, Texas, by .359 seconds in the 30-lapper that wrapped the Roto-Rooter Midweek Series. It was Marks' second High Limit win in the last three events. "We've had some speed here, but had some bad luck as well," said Marks, who started fifth moved toward the front before putting himself into position to make a decisive pass. "It's just great to be standing up here." Reutzel set sail from the front as the green flag waved and grabbed the lead. He caught lapped traffic by lap six, holding an .833-second margin over Sye Lynch. The race came to a halt at that point when 22nd running Kerry Madsen flipped his car in turn two. Marks, Justin Peck and Tanner Thorson were third-through-fifth at the time with Rico Abreu sixth headed for the restart after what would be the lone stoppage in the action. Reutzel opened a one-second lead by lap 10 over Marks as Lynch slipped to third. Marks cut the deficit to a half-second by the halfway mark on lap 15 as the top two caught slower cars. That only tightened the race for the lead even more as Marks pulled to the rear of Reutzel's car on lap 17 and grabbed the lead the next time around, passing for the top spot on the outside of turn two. "I felt that was my opportunity to get by Aaron," Marks said. "His car is really good and he's a really good driver. He's not really gonna make any mistakes at all. Any time you have an opportunity like that, you have to take advantage of it and I felt like that was ours right there. "Lapped traffic was pretty thick and they were running the bottom. So was he and so was I, and I figured at some point the top has to start coming around. I decided to go ahead and try it right there. He just got bottled up enough behind a lapped car that I was able to keep that momentum and haul around him in one and two. "After that it was just about picking lapped cars off one by one, try not to make any mistakes and run a really clean race. Once I kind of got some clean air there just not really sticking to one line. Move around a little bit and let the car float to where it wanted to go and that seemed to be the best for me." Marks' lead grew to one-second by lap 22, but back came Reutzel on lap 25 to trail by just .324 seconds. Marks found his way around lapped cars and held on the rest of the way, beating Reutzel by .359 seconds at the finish, leaving the runner-up to second-guess himself. "I kept my patience a little too much," Reutzel said. "I was a little too tight early and was nervous to jump up. I was trying to use the big arc and run around the middle. I was just a little too timid to jump up there and do what Brent did. Just a little disappointed in myself, getting the car too tight and not being more aggressive. "That's two of them I've given away in the last week. I just need to clean things up and do a better job honestly." Lynch finished third with Peck fourth, Brad Sweet fifth and Abreu was sixth. That was just enough to give Abreu, of St. Helena, Calif., the Roto Rooter Midweek Championship by one point over Reutzel. Abreu also protected his lead in the season championship standings as he will take a 28-point margin over Sweet into the championship weekend, Friday and Saturday at the Texas Motor Speedway dirt track in Fort Worth. Abreu set fast qualifying time with a lap of 12.878 seconds - just off his track record of 12.829 set at the High Limit Racing Diamond Classic on June 29, 2024. Reutzel won the dash to earn the pole for the feature. High Limit coming to Hockett-McMillin in 2026: Prior to the feature, Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Casey Shuman announced that the 16th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial will join the Kubota High Limit Racing schedule next season alongside the POWRi WAR Sprints. The Hockett-McMillin is set for Sept. 17-19, 2026 for winged and non-wing sprints. - Fennewald captures Super Stocks Big Buck 50 and Jackson takes Late Model Fall Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway
WHEATLAND, MO. (Oct. 12, 2025) - After dominating most of their events, Johnny Fennewald and Tony Jackson Jr. both fought off late-race challenges to bring home $10,000-to-win features on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway. Fennewald held on to beat Richie Tosh to earn the 9th annual Hickamo Super Stocks Big Buck 50 Presented by Whitetail Trophy Hunt. Meanwhile, Jackson edged Chris Simpson for the Late Model Fall Nationals victory, leading 49 of 50 laps. The eighth-starting Fennewald, of Appleton City, took over the lead on lap 12 and held it the rest of the way in a race plagued by eight cautions. Fennewald was up to the challenge on each restart, en route to his biggest career victory despite some nerves from a possible mechanical issues midway through the 50-lapper. "We had a really good race car, but about lap 25 my fuel light started coming on," Fennewald said in victory lane. "On corner entry, every single lap. It was killing me. Honestly, those cautions kept coming out and I thought they were saving me, but that last restart it just died right there on corner entry into (turn) one. "I seen Richie's nose there and I was like 'come on, baby,' and I just backed out of the throttle and let it breath a little bit. It died again going into turn three and I just kind of let it coast in and got back on it. The good Lord was looking out for us tonight." Terry Schultz started on the pole and immediately grabbed the lead over Taylor Carver in the early going, with eFennewald rolling all the way into second by lap six. A lead that was once more than than a second was cut by Fennewald to .256 seconds by lap 11 and Fennewald took the lead the next time around with an outside pass out of turn four. Fennewald opened a one-second lead by lap 15 with J.T. Carroll third. As the leaders began dealing with lapped traffic, Fennewald continued to build on his lead and was two seconds clear of Schultz on lap 20. The top groove continued to be Fennewald's friend until a lap-24 caution, as fifth-running Neil Kemp lost a wheel entering turn one, wiped out his 2.6-second lead over Schultz. Fennewald needed only two laps to restore a 2.5-second lead, but the event's fourth caution appeared on lap 26 as Carroll slowed and had to exit the track. Just before the caution, 2017 Big Buck 50 winner Tony Anglin, who started 12th, took over third. The restart saw Anglin pass Schultz on the outside for second. Before Anglin could make a run at Fennewald, a lap-29 caution again slowed the field. Anglin slipped on this restart, falling back to fifth with Schultz driving back into second with 20 laps remaining. Fennewald took advantage of the shuffling to quickly open a 1.5-second lead before caution No. 6 flew on lap 34. Fennewald had another clean restart and was 1.1 seconds in front when another caution appeared on lap 40. Tosh got around Schultz on the restart, but green-flag action only lasted two circuits until the eighth caution of the race came out as two cars got together in turn two. Tosh stuck to the low groove with Fennewald up high after the restart. Fennewald was able to stave off the challenge and beat Tosh by 1.14 seconds at the checkers. "Man, we've been preparing for this race for quite a while," Fennewald said. "I don't even know what to say, but it's pretty awesome." Fennewald also won a spot in the Whitetail Trophy Hunt next month in mid-Missouri, with the winner of that taking home $15,000. Fennewald said he isn't sure if he or his son will take the entry. "This is pretty unbelievable," Fennewald said. "These guys put on this $10,000-to-win Big Buck 50 and it's so awesome they brought it back. This is like a dream come true. I really wish (three-time defending champion Peyton Taylor) had been here to defend it. It would have been a hell of a race if he'd have been there. I watched him come from the back to win it last year." Derek Brown finished third with Schultz fourth and Aaron Poe coming home fifth. Tosh, of Salado, Ark., was driving a car owned by Tony Jackson Jr. He made Fennewald work for it at the end, though all the restarts made it a grind for him as well. "I had a real good car," Tosh said. "It ought to have been entertaining. I was ready for it to be over with, I promise you. What a weekend." Jacob Rexing earned $500 from Alamo Arms as the first non-qualifier for the feature. Past winners of the Big Buck 50 are Peyton Taylor (2024, 2020 and 2019), Tony Anglin (2017), Tim Brown (2016), Jeremy Russell (2015) and Terry Schultz (2014). The event was rained out in 2018 and there was not a Big Buck from 2021-23. Jackson hangs on in Late Model Fall Nationals: Tony Jackson Jr., of Lebanon was holding a comfortable lead as the laps clicked away in the 50-lap Late Model Fall Nationals. But a late-race caution - just like in the Super Stocks race - presented some drama and Jackson was up to the challenge. Jackson held off Chris Simpson of Oxford, Iowa, for a half-second victory in the unsanctioned Late Model event. He led all but the opening lap. "I've got like a love-hate relationship with this place," Jackson said, noting an 11th-place finish on Friday night. "I either run really good or really bad. We worked it over today." Jackson grabbed the lead on lap two after Mason Oberkramer paced the opening circuit. Jackson forged a 1.8-second lead when the first caution flew on lap nine when Tyler Wolff, running third at the time, spun and grazed the wall in turn four. Simpson took second away from Oberkramer on the restart as Jackson quickly opened a 1.5-second lead. The leader's margin reached 1.8 seconds on lap 17 before Simpson began to cut into the gap as a sustained green-flag run continued. As the leaders began to navigate lapped traffic, Jackson extended his cushion to 2.4 seconds by the midpoint on lap 25 and pushed it to more than three seconds by lap 28. He kept cruising from there as the race stayed caution-free. Jackson's lead was a comfortable 3.5 seconds with just 10 to go with Simpson well ahead of Oberkramer. That's how they stayed until lap 47, when caution came out as Brandon Conkwright spun in turn three right in front of the leaders. Jackson, with a 2.4-second lead, avoided Conkwright. But that gave new life to his pursuers for a three-lap sprint when action resumed. "Chris is one of the best racers you'll race with," Jackson said. "Any time you restart with him behind you, there's a chance he's going to slide by you. We just stuck with the lane we'd been running that got us to the lead and hoped for the best." Simpson made a run at Jackson on the inside as the green waved, but Jackson was able to hold him off and win by .557 seconds. Simpson settled for second for the second straight night with Oberkramer third, Dillon McCowan fourth and Gordy Gundaker taking fifth. "We were good," Simpson said. "Just the way the lapped traffic laid out, it seemed like Tony would get by 'em and they would all come up to the top and block me, but it's a part of it. It sucks running second, but I can't complain. A lot of guys wish they could be standing here. "This is our last race of the year. We'll take a second and move on." Frank Heckenast Jr. had the fast qualifying lap at 15.932 seconds, out of Group B. Jaxon Ertel paced Group A at 16.050. - Arenz drops curtain on remarkable 2025 campaign
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) October 1, 2025 - Travis Arenz and the Travis Arenz Motorsports Team crew capped a highly memorable 2025 season with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series curtain closer as part of the eighth annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis., on Saturday, Sept. 27. The 18th-year racer began the night by qualifying a strong third in the 33-car field with a lap of 11.554 seconds. Arenz then placed fifth in the third IRA heat race to earn a dash spot. The 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing champion then placed fourth after starting third in the second four-lap dash to gain the eighth starting position in the 30-lap Rick Schmidt Memorial main event. Arenz's participation in the main event proved to be short-lived, as he was involved in a four-car incident in turn two on lap three, which ended both his night and the 2025 season. "The night started out on a positive note as I ran a third quick qualifying lap, but the night quickly started to take a turn in the opposite direction," Arenz said. "With hurting the equipment I have in the last few weeks, I had to run my backup car again. I describe that car as temperamental and it really challenges my skills as a driver. It requires very technical adjustments and really makes you work for it. We fell back a few spots in the heat race, but I was able to get back into a transfer spot, which allowed a starting position in the dash. Very early on in the feature, I was, unfortunately, caught up in a wreck with nowhere to go, ending our night early." Arenz capped the 2025 campaign with three A-main victories, five podium showings, 14 top-10 finishes, six heat race victories, 13 dash appearances, three dash victories, and one fast qualifier award in 24 completed events. The clear highlight of both his 2025 season and his entire racing career was a highly improbable $26,000 victory against the biggest names in the Winged Sprint Car business with Kubota High Limit Racing at the Rayce Rudeen Foundation event at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, Wis., on Thursday, June 4. Arenz also tallied two IRA A-main victories at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, May 17, and 141 Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 13, to finish 2025 with a career-high three 410 Sprint Car victories in a season. On the downside, mechanical issues and on-track incidents forced Arenz to retire from a handful of main events early and to miss IRA events at Cedar Lake Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 6 and Jackson Motorplex on Saturday, Sept. 20. He ended the 2025 campaign eighth in the final IRA point standings. - Arenz tallies 2025 victory No. 3 at 141
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 17, 2025 - Although it may not be his home track, 141 Speedway is the next best thing for Travis Arenz. After earning the signature win of his racing career on June 5 with the Kubota High Limit Racing Series, Arenz backed it up with his first career Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series A-main triumph at the unique third-mile semi-banked egg-shaped clay oval in Francis Creek, Wis., on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. competitor opened the night by qualifying 10th in the 25-car field with a lap of 11.232 seconds. After winning the first eight-lap heat race, Arenz won the first four-lap dash to claim the pole of the 30-lap main event. The 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing champion fell to second on the opening lap and trailed race leader Danny Schlafer until using a low move to seize the top spot on lap 17. Arenz, who claimed the 2016 Northern Sport Mod title at 141 Speedway, would not be denied the rest of the way en route to his second IRA A-main victory of the 2025 season, third overall main event triumph of the current campaign, third career IRA A-main win, and 74th overall A-main victory in 17 seasons of competition. He opened the doubleheader weekend by qualifying 12th in the 29-car field at Wilmot Raceway on Friday, Sept. 12. After finishing third in the third heat race, Arenz advanced from the 11th starting spot to claim a fourth place showing in the 30-lap main event. "I ran our backup car this weekend," Arenz said. "This car tends to react to changes differently than my other chassis do, so we made what he had work. The car was not very good at Wilmot early in the night. However, it got better, and we had a respectable fourth place finish. We weren't as competitive as we should have been, but I knew finishing was important. "At 141, the car was decent in the heat race and dash, but again I had to make it work," he said. "The car was much better in the feature. After making a few adjustments, I was able to move around the track as I needed to earn another victory at 141." Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports Team are set to enter the 47th annual Jackson Nationals at the four-tenths-mile semi-banked Jackson Motorplex dirt oval in Jackson, Minn., on Friday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 20. The 410 Sprint Car portion of the event is co-sanctioned by the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association, Northern Outlaw Sprint Association, and Midwest Sprint Touring Series. RaceSaver 305 Sprint Cars are also on the card both nights. Racing program on Friday, Sept. 19 features the Tweeter Memorial presented by Joel Pingeon Trucking for $5,000 to win and $500 to start. The Bank Midwest Jackson Nationals presented by Wyffels Hybrids will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20, for $12,000 to win and $1,200 to start. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m. both nights. All 2025 IRA events are streamed live on floracing.com. - McFADDEN TAKES NARC LOUIE VERMEIL CLASSIC OPENER AT CALISTOGA
(8/30/25 - Andrew Kunas) Calistoga, CA ... Sometimes, a change of scenery will do you good. Just ask James McFadden. After a hard week elsewhere, McFadden and the Tarlton Motorsports team decided to change plans and hurried down to join NARC at the reopening Calistoga Speedway. The decision resulted in a $5,000 victory on the opening night of the Louie Vermeil Classic. McFadden led all 25 laps and picked up his fifth NARC victory of the season aboard the American Rock & Rent-sponsored Tarlton Motorsports No. 21 TRD-powered Maxim, and it was his sixth career triumph with the series. It wasn't always easy as Australian star was challenged for the lead at the midway point by Indiana visitor Spencer Bayston. After completing the 13th circuit, Bayston passed McFadden for the lead as they raced in traffic on the big half-mile. An untimely caution flag though negated Bayston's pass and put McFadden back out front. McFadden successfully fended off Bayston on a pair of restarts before Bayston then pulled off the track with mechanical issues. Shane Golobic later moved into second place but could not challenge McFadden. Pulling into the winner's circle in his first visit to the historic Calistoga Speedway, McFadden celebrated with his patented "shoey", taking a drink of beer from one of his racing shoes, the fifth time he'd done that this season in NARC competition. McFadden had won four of out five races in NARC's Fastest Five Days in Motorsports up in the Pacific Northwest in June before traveling out east with the team for the summer. After the tough Thursday and Friday night with High Limit Racing at Skagit Speedway up in Washington, the Tarlton Motorsports team was no doubt feeling much better with the bounce back NARC win Saturday night at Calistoga. After starting eighth and moving up six spots, Golobic finished runner-up aboard the NOS Energy-sponsored Matt Wood Racing No. 17w Kistler-powered KPC. NARC points leader D.J. Netto earned a podium finish aboard the Penny Newman Grain-sponsored Netto Ag No. 88n Rider-powered KPC. Outside pole sitter Sean Becker was fourth in the D&J Construction Rental-sponsored Bjork Construction No. 7b Shaver-powered Maxim and was followed by Colby Copeland in the Hansen Machine-sponsored Nick McColloch No. 17 Don Ott-powered Maxim. Rounding out the Top 10 were Tanner Carrick, Dominic Gorden, Bud Kaeding, Chance Grasty and Andy Forsberg. Forsberg earned the Williams Roofing Hard Charger nod, advancing eight positions from 18th to finish tenth. Heat races earlier in the evening were canceled due to concerns about time and track conditions, specifically regarding tire wear. NARC officials and drivers agreed to make the event show-up points only. The feature event was lined up by qualifying times with the top six subjected to an invert draw, which turned out to be a zero and put McFadden on the pole for the event, this coming after he paced the 19-car field in qualifying with a time of 18.027 seconds around the big half-mile clay oval. Hoosier Racing Tires Feature (25 laps): 1. 21 James McFadden (1), 2. 17w Shane Golobic (8), 3. 88n D.J. - Justyn Cox strikes for first Placerville Speedway win of season on Red Hawk Casino Night
Placerville, CA…Clarksburg's Justyn Cox, Oakley's Nick Baldwin, Auburn's Ray Trimble and Lotus' Shawn Whitney snagged Placerville Speedway victories on Saturday during Red Hawk Resort + Casino Night. Cox ended up leading flag to flag in the Thompson's Family of Dealerships Winged 360 Sprint Car finale aboard the Berco Redwood No. 42x mount. It marked his initial triumph of the season, and the 13th of his Placerville Speedway Winged 360 career, giving him sole possession of 14th all-time. Extra money was on the line for the top three finishers in the race in memory of Don London, who we paid tribute to in opening ceremonies. The 25-lap Winged Sprint Car finale took a total of five attempts to complete one lap. When things finally got going, Cox moved out front and scooted away, while the action behind him turned out to be particularly entertaining. Several drivers fought it out including championship contender Tony Gomes, who did exactly what he needed to do in the battle for the title. The Modesto competitor moved into third on lap 13 and then snagged second a few laps from the finish. The runner up result gives Gomes a three-point lead atop the standings heading into the Forni-Humphreys Classic championship finale on September 13th. Placerville's Shane Hopkins motored his way from 12th to third to earn the Hard Charger Award, with Auburn's Andy Forsberg and Sacramento's Austin Wood rounding out the top five. It was a marvelous rebound for Wood, who went to the rear at one point after being in a turn four collision. His charge back forward keeps him just three markers behind Gomes going into the finale. Completing the top 10 in the feature were Cole Schroeder, Dylan Bloomfield, Chance Grasty, Kenny Wanderstadt and Steel Powell. The Red Hawk Resort + Casino Pure Stock feature saw Placerville's Tyler Lightfoot jump out front and set a quick pace over the early stages. Point leader Nick Baldwin carved his way into second after not too long and began to hound the leader. Lightfoot had captured the Carnett Clash during the previous week and looked to fend off Baldwin to make it back-to-back wins in the division. With just a handful of laps remaining however, Lightfoot slowed with issues down the back stretch. Baldwin had nowhere to go and contacted the rear of the No. 23j machine but was able to continue. Following that the six-time Placerville Speedway champion cruised away to collect his 38th career Pure Stock win, putting him one shy of tying Dan Jinkerson. Kevin Jinkerson, Ryan Peter, Michael Murphy and Colton Arbogast finished second through fifth respectively. The Nor-Cal Dwarf Car Association put on a tremendous show in the main event, during what could be described as an instant classic. Multiple different leaders and side-by-side racing was prevalent during the 20-lapper. Shawn Whitney moved out front at the waving of the Ed Entz green flag, with the action behind him as hot as the blistering summer weather during the day. Several movers and shakers were seen as positions changed regularly. Lincoln's Dylan Shrum then marched to the front with he and Whitney putting on a show for the fans on hand. The pair split a lapped car with eight laps remaining, but Whitney got sideways and stalled to draw a caution. After restarting at the tail Whitney proceeded to blast all the way back to the front and challenge Shrum over the final circuits. The thrilling finish saw Whitney beat out Shrum by 0.002 seconds at the scoring loop. Ben Wiesz, Brenden Shrum and Brandon Aylesworth completed the top five. The Dwarf Cars also went home with extra money in memory of Don London. The Kings Meats Ltd. Late Model main event was all about Ray Trimble, who snagged the win over Tyler Lightfoot, Chris Mcginnis and Rod Oliver. Placerville Speedway returns to action this coming Saturday with the 49er Gold Rush Classic featuring Kubota High Limit Racing and BCRA Lightning Sprints. - HOT POINT BATTLE TAKES SHAPE AT PLACERVILLE SPEEDWAY
Placerville, CA…The championship fight is heating up and nearing its conclusion at Placerville Speedway, with the penultimate point race of the season taking place during Red Hawk Resort + Casino Night this Saturday August 9th. Following Saturday's event, the final point race of the campaign will occur during the 20th annual Mark Forni/ CJ Humphreys Classic. The much-anticipated show on September 13th will hand out a solid $8,500-to-win for the Thompson's Winged 360 Sprint Cars. Sandwiched between the final point races are a pair of special events featuring Kubota High Limit Racing next week and the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series on September 6th. Reserved tickets can be purchased for the High Limit 49er Gold Rush Classic via https://www.eventsprout.com/event/psr081625 "We are getting down to the wire on the season but still have some pretty large events remaining at Placerville Speedway," said Promoter Scott Russell. "Our entire staff looks forward to Red Hawk Casino Night on Saturday and then the High Limit Racing show on August 16th. We hope everybody can make it out and help us finish the season in style." Just eight slim points separate the top four drivers in the Thompson's Family of Dealerships Winged 360 Sprint Car standings going into Saturday. Modesto's Tony Gomes has put together a consistent campaign and possesses a one-point lead over last season's Rookie of the Year Austin Wood. Gomes has piloted the C&M Motorsports No. 7c to a pair of wins, while Wood is searching for his initial triumph of the year at Red Hawk Casino Night. The driver of the CR Wood Motorsports No. 2a has racked up several qualifying points in recent weeks with multiple ADCO Driveline Fast Time Awards. Previous point leader Andy Forsberg hopes to rebound after issues sidelined him while sitting out front last week. The Auburn driver has guided the Pacific Highway Rentals No. 92 to a trio of point race wins and is tied with Gomes for the most top five efforts, having accumulated seven in the 10 events. Suisun City's Chance Grasty also has the Friends & Family Racing X1 within striking distance of another track title. The 18-year-old goes into Red Hawk Casino Night sitting eight markers back in fourth. Grasty earned his initial Placerville Speedway win during SCCT Speedweek recently. Yuba City's Rod Oliver has extended his Kings Meats Ltd. Late Model point lead to 27 digits heading into the penultimate race. Oliver is in search of his first track championship at Placerville Speedway. Oakley's Nick Baldwin is looking for a sixth straight Red Hawk Casino Pure Stock track title and number seven overall. He leads Kevin Jinkerson by 35 points going into Saturday. The Nor-Cal Dwarf Cars will round out the card, as they also make their next to last appearance of the season. Voted Sacramento's Best Casino, Red Hawk boasts magnificent views and a natural setting and provides a first-class gaming experience. Located on a beautiful hilltop less than 20 minutes east of Sacramento on Highway 50, Red Hawk is the gamblers oasis with more than 2,500 slots, a variety of table games and award-winning dining. - Placerville Speedway opens big month of August with Carnett Clash this Saturday
Placerville, CA…Placerville Speedway is set to launch the month of August with one its special nights of the year for the Kings Meats Ltd. Late Models and Red Hawk Casino Pure Stocks, with the annual "Carnett Clash" taking place this Saturday. The Carnett Clash presented by Ford's Only will hand out a stellar $500-to-start the Pure Stock main event. As noted in a previous release, the event will be show up points only, with local track divisions welcomed in. The extra money is thanks to several gracious people that have lent their support including Ford's Only, Shelton Racing, Galvan Construction, Heath's Construction, Murphy's Concrete, TKO Recycling, Nick Baldwin, Tan Central in El Dorado Hills and in memory of Sabrina Preszler. The Ltd. Late Model winner will also go home with an extra $1,500 bonus at the show. The 60th season of competition presented by Berco Redwood/ Hoosier Tires/ Coors Light continues its summer run with an event showcasing all four of the track regulars. Along with the Ltd. Late Models and Pure Stocks, we also welcome the Thompson's Family of Dealerships Winged 360 Sprint Cars and the Mountain Democrat Mini Trucks. Bryan Carnett was a true fan of the stock car divisions at Placerville Speedway while racing, owning, and sponsoring both Pure Stocks and Late Models throughout the decade he spent at the track. Bryan had a knack for storytelling. He could carry on a conversation with anyone and oftentimes had people in tears laughing from his sense of humor. He was known for his generous, caring personality and was always willing to give of himself to help someone in need. On October 18, 2015, after a short but aggressive battle with brain, bone and lung cancer, Bryan passed away at his home in Placerville surrounded by his family. "Placerville Speedway has always been our home track, and I am thrilled that Scott Russell and Kami Arnold were willing to host the Carnett Clash once again," said Forryst Carnett, son of the late Bryan Carnett. "I am hoping we can build upon the success we've had and have another exciting night of racing, which is the best way to remember the competitive spirit of my dad." Oakley's Nick Baldwin is in search of a seventh Pure Stock championship at Placerville Speedway and heads into the Carnett Clash sitting atop the standings. Baldwin is fresh off his fifth triumph of the season at the most recent race and looks to add the Carnett to his fantastic campaign thus far. The Kings Meats Ltd. Late Models continue to be anybody's race up front. Yuba City's Rod Oliver and Live Oak's Matt Micheli stand just five points apart at the top of the charts. Oliver has two wins, while Micheli will be searching for number one on Saturday. Rookie driver Noah Lapoint brings the Mountain Democrat Mini Truck point lead into the Carnett Clash. The Camino driver has put together a consistent year and is 13 points up on Luke Costa in the standings. Auburn's Andy Forsberg is in search of a record 11th Thompson's Winged 360 title this year. The 76-time Winged Sprint Car winner at Placerville Speedway holds an 18-point lead in the standings over Chance Grasty with three races left. Tickets and Details: Grandstand seating during the Carnett Clash will be General Admission on Saturday August 2nd, except for the reserved seats allocated to season ticket holders that are marked. Adult tickets cost just $18, while seniors 62+, military and juniors 12-17 will be $16. Kids 6-11 cost $8 and those five and under are free.
